Only problem we had with this range is the standard size in my 25+ year old home was 29" wide, so a bottom cabinet had to me moved over an inch. Otherwise, very happy with the purchase. I really like the fact that there are very few cracks or crevices on the top of the range where food and drips can hide and be hard to wipe up. So far, cleaning has been a breeze. The huge window in the over door is great. Haven't broiled with this yet, but the baking went well and the Cook and Hold feature is great. Really like the all black sleekness and design of this range. It was not easy to find a "slide-in" range, they are far and few between. This meets all my hopes at this early stage of use.

I especially wanted to buy an American-made product, so was happy to find this Whirlpool. It is very easy to use and clean. I like the self-cleaning feature. Two negatives are that the digital temperature display did not match the interior temperature from the first use. Two service visits were required to fix this. And the white model has a noticeable gap between the bottom of the oven door and the top of the drawer. The color of the metal in the gap is black, which I find unattractive, with the white color.

Comments about Whirlpool 30" Black Slide-In Electric Range:
We recently ought this stove as a replacement for a 1990 Jenn-Air. Due to limited space, here is a brief summary of each problem instead of an in-depth exploration of the issues:Inaudible timer, beeps once instead of repeatedly, does not show time elapsed since timer went off.Almost impossible to cancel the timer, easy to turn the oven off by accident while trying to cancel timer.Poor display design, user should be able to choose whether they want the display to show clock, timer or oven temp by default, and toggle between them and have the oven respect their choice.Oven temp indicator does not show a drop in temperature even when one has occurred, a below-temperature reading is only shown at the time the oven is first turned on and has not come up to temperature for the first time yet. Over-temperature is NEVER shown, as if by conscious choice, to fool the consumer into not noticing their oven has gotten too hot. The only way to see the actual temperature is to cancel "Bake", and start it again, with a temperature goal well in excess of the temp you wanted. If you do this you will find the oven was 10 or 15 degrees too hot all along but was not willing to let you see it.Should be able to toggle display, to see either desired temp or actual current temp. The oven temperature cannot be adjusted in the range of 100 to 140 degrees F (145F is the lowest setting in the "Keep Warm" cycle). Why not???? Bread, yoghurt, yeast baking, all require mild warm temperatures and long cycle length (4-16 hours or more).Flimsy stovetop, buckles when heated; also, elements in holders warp somehow and get badly out of level so that frying oil all runs to one side.Door is uniquely permeable to spatter & staining, so that all layers of the door glass get filthy and oven window can only be cleaned by dismantling door.Black stovetop surface shows every fingerprint and smear as clearly as if it was spraypaint graffiti, looks awful even when clean by any normal standard.

We're not fans of the glass heating plates so went with this model as it was one of the few electric coil island ranges on the market still. We've only had it installed for a couple weeks and the stovetop is efficient. Does seem that having the large burners on "medium" heat though is closer to "high" heat, but I like how quickly the small burners heat up. Stove also works well. The only issue we have so far is that is that the only color our local appliance store had was in black and we definitely didn't realize how hard that color is to keep clean!
This electric range is just what we wanted it's great.

We bought this a little over a monyh ago and we love it. Easy touch oven control much better than other models with complicated controls. The coils heat up faster then our old stove. thank you so much.
Timer too quiet
from San Jose, CA
The timer only sounds one low volume beep and that's it. Terrible! Timer should be much louder and continue until it is turned off.Electric burners are smaller than the electric stove I replaced which was 25 years old. They don't make them like they use to.Stove burner dials are nice and big and easy to use.Oven controls could be simpler.Seems like a lot of money to pay for a basic stove.

If we went out to get our own stove we would look for gas and a few other features we care about a lot. This stove came with the house we bought, so we didn't get to choose. The good news is that we've been very happy with it anyway. Even though it isn't gas, it heats up very quickly and manages temperature better than I assumed it would. The self cleaning feature is nice, and along with a pizza stove everything we've baked has cooked fairly evenly. The buttons are easy to figure out (I hate when the timer and the clock features or the cancel button get mixed up), and it doesn't require the cleaning the glass-top unit in our old place did. This has been a nice stove for us so far.
