Not ready for "prime time"

BOTTOM LINE No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

After turning the unit on it takes an inordinate amount of time to "load" and be ready to play the music! The albums/songs are stored in chunks and not associated with the album. I have seven and more album covers for one album and only two/three songs on each one??? Makes playing the whole CD a real chore!

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

I researched this unit after having miserable experiences with several other products claiming to produce the same results, including the Denon dock. The product does as describes. I use it with a Denon 2805 and a Panasonic Viera 1080i 50" plasma. Hook up is easy...I use the HDMI (to TV for best audio/video), optical (to Denon for best audio), and composite hookups (to Denon Zone 2....analog only output, thus the use of the composites). The key attribute of the product is it's ability to function as a DAC (digital to analog converter). The DAC in a itouch/phone is inferior for use with a typical home theater set up. The DLO has its own DAC, thus reproducing excellent audio quality, even with compressed MP3/4 files. If you think you are getting great audio with a Y split analog composite line, whoa, think again. The DLO provided the solution to a 6 month quest to find the right interface for my itouch. It does the job well, although romote is extremely slow to respond, which is typical of all the docks I've tested. The unit is a high quality build. I've had it for over 9 months and am happy with the purchase and the price is right at Abt's. IF you have setup problems, see your ipod/touch/phone manual to initiate a reset of your player...this may be necessary to get the DLO to recognize your device for the first time. Just ensure you are backed up on itunes to you can resych. This is a quality product and worth the $'s if you want to reap the benefits of your ipod with a higher end home audio/video system.

Not what I expected for the money

BOTTOM LINE No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Initially I connected this to my receiver using the provided 3 into 1 into 3 cable. The cable fit very loose on the composite inputs of the docking station and actually fell off when I moved the unit into place on my audio rack. The right channel kept going in and out and I decided to pull out my best StraightWire connectors and ran these from the dock to the CD input on the receiver. The right channel was no longer working so I switched to Optical input and there was still no right channel. I spoke with the Tech team at ABT and explained to him what happened and that the composite connectors on the back of the docking station were smaller than normal. Usually with my StraightWire cables I have to be careful not to pull the cap off of the composite inputs, but even this was loose? I returned the product!
