Breville Smart Toaster Oven - BOV800XL

The cooking is even and toast is perfect.

Use this Oven everyday, breakfast, lunch and dinner!! Waffles, toast, chicken tenders, pizza, cheesy bread etc. And we don't heat up the whole house. Very easy to clean. My only complaint is how very Hot the top and sides get, have to be careful to not leave anything on top or next to oven!

Great product. Does everything we asked for and more.

Expensive, but it seems to be a quality product. I have had this oven for 3 weeks now. Ordering was easy and delivery was prompt and free. It comes with a broiling tray and pan, pizza tray, and wire rack. A good accessory would be the Pizza Crisper Pan (perforated). The automatic wire rack reject operates simply with magnets in the door that pull the rack partially out when one opens the door, provided the rack is in the center position. Simple, but effective. The oven has 3 different shelf levels depending on baking or broiling and the size of the food. The LCD shows the functions. The oven reaches operating temperature quickly, which seems to be accurate based on cooking frozen foods at the recommended temperature on the carton. It also has a convection (fan) feature that can be turned on and off. The controls are easy to understand. The product feels to be well built and the outside doesn't get overly hot, which minimizes heat loss and burn risk; although the top of the oven is designed to be used as a warming tray. Finally, the Instruction Book is very informative and easy to understand, so be sure to heed the one-time "Before Use" instruction.

Overall the oven works well, but for the price point I would expect it to. There are just a few annoyances I have: 1. The controls are finicky... they jump around and are very difficult to pinpoint. for instance: for time, just a slight turn and you will go from 10 seconds to 20 minutes... its very sensitive. 2. No clock when the oven is off. 3. there is a magnet that pulls out the cooking grate when opening but it only works in the middle. I know most other ovens don't have this, but if you're going to put one in, why not do it so it works across the board? 4. The additional accessories (pizza cooking thing...) don't work well and warp under simple heating (like to 350). Very cheap accessories.

I have used this oven about 10 times already. It is great and I it looks and feel very well built. The only thing I wish it would have is a user created setting for stuff other than presets (pizza, bagel, etc). I know I could take one of those settings and adjust the time and temperature but then I would have to change it back when I'm done with cooking the other food.

My wife and I are very pleased with this product, as it is very easy to operate and the temperature controls are very accurate. It seems to be built well,and if it holds up like I think it will,I give it 5 stars.

I use this Toaster Oven for toasting Bagels, reheating Pizza, toasting more than 2 slices of bread. It's convection oven is outstanding and provides very even and quick cooking and heating

I've just gave my parents my Krups FC12 toaster oven which I loved for two years. Now after using the Breville 800 series I can say that this is a much better oven, not only in size but also in its features, like pre-heating mode and alarm. Presets for various types of cooking. The difference in price it's worth the additional size and features. I would recommend this to any serious and amateur chef.

Mostly baking pizza

This is an excellent toaster oven for the money. The convection oven feature is a great addition. It allows you to bake without needing to turn on the regular oven especially during the hot, humid summer. We've baked in it, toasted bread and bagels and all come out perfect. Its a little big for a toaster oven, but if you have the counter space I highly recommend it.

All that it says and more! I love it and my kids love baking their individual cookies...it's that easy.

Besides toast every morning, this oven is great for finishing seared salmon, grilled steaks, etc.

Although seemed expensive, and a little large, it had the best recommendations on multiple sites and in reliable cooking magazine. Debated smaller one, but wanted flexibility of larger one. I have not been disappointed!! Perfect for toast, baked potatoes, pizza. Haven't tried much else yet.

Beautiful appliance in and out and proud to have in my kitchen. Performs excellent and very easy to keep clean. I highly recommend.

I use it to bake cakes, toast bread, resuscitate bread (sprinkle water and toast), roast, keep pizzas warm, cook pizza. I've just started with this oven, but what impressed me the most was its ability to cook perfectly. Somehow it selects the correct combination of temperature and time. The controls are the easiest to use of any electronic product I've used.

I think my title says it all...have used this oven everyday since I received it. Fabulous broiler element, my husband is a real cheese on toast kinda guy and he loves it! I have not baked in this yet but have done a whole chicken, roasted potatoes, toasted buns etc. Performed beautifully and so quiet! Am baking a cake this weekend!

I love the even heating with convection. I did my research and this item has all the features I want and need. Also, the display is large enough to read without glasses and I love the compact frame when compared to other brands. It looks beautiful on my counter, too.

I bought this because our main (full sized) oven was broke and our toaster oven was about to go as well. I thought I would try replacing them both with a quality toaster/convection oven. With the Breville oven I can cook almost anything I was able to cook in the full size oven. It cooks things faster and more evenly than the full size oven did plus it's more economical to use. So far I haven't found the need to replace the full size oven.

Cooks very well however I have found I have to cut preparations times in half. So if a recipe calls for 20 minutes then I use 10-15 minutes top! Otherwise, you may burn your food.

Great product

We bought this for our daughter who is living in an apartment with no oven. Since it will serve as her primary source for making meals, it was important that she have a reliable and versatile toaster oven. So far, it has not disappointed!

This oven truly lives up to all it's claims. The controls are easy to use and understand, the unit seems well made and it heats foods up very quickly. The versatility is a big factor and the convection fan works well. Perhaps the most pleasant surprise is the dimensions. Of course the specs are accurate (18x16) but the perceived depth is only about 12.5 inches because the top mounted handle takes up a couple inches and the unit wants an inch of clearance for the back. In short, it looks smaller than it is.

Better than expected! Not much need for heating up the main oven anylonger.

While the BOV800XL is a bit pricey, you do get what you pay for. Not to be confused with a simple "toaster-oven", this IS a Counter-top Oven. The quick pre-heat is one big thing that sets this apart from a conventional oven. The digital controls complete the picture. A must-have for any 'party of one'.

I mostly cook for just me. Heats up fast, is more than large enough. Easy to use and see controls. Turns itself off every time which is great when I am in another room Easy slide out front crumb try Cooks evenly, even when not using the convection Good for just toasting. Love the warm option The only SS appliance I have, but it looks good among everything else Wouldn't want to be without it

Finally, a toaster oven that is well built and EASY to control while allowing a birds eye view of what is happening inside. We have two kids in colege, are not wealthy and watch our dollars but THIS is worth spending little more.

The Breville BOV800X seems to be a great oven overall! I am impressed with it's so called IQ as it seems to really work. Toast comes out perfect, maybe a tad lighter though than the way the setting reads. I reheated some pizza and it was like it was JUST made fresh from the Pizzeria..great! In Convection mode it is VERY quiet unlike my prior cheapy Oster Toaster Oven I had that died in about a year. The overall feel and look of this Breville is that it is a high quality product. The knobs though are pretty, but feel very light and cheap for an oven so expensive. [...] .easy returns. Now the problem, I had my Breville about 3 days..and then suddenly even on the darkest setting for toast, I could barely make bread INTO toast. Something must have happened to the IQ as 3 days after my purchase..the Breville IQ was no longer SMART,it became DUMB, and in the end I had to return it. A defective unit can happen to any brand..so I can't really say it's poorly made. I actually bought a second one..and it has been working PERFECTLY for about 3 weeks now..so maybe I just had a lemon, first time. One thing though..it's made in CHINA, I'm not anti China made really,matter of fact my wife is Chinese..BUT I do wonder if perhaps there may be an issue with quality control. That being said almost anything you buy these days..even many fine Japanese cameras are also made in China..but just thought I'd mention that. Overall.if you don't get a defective unit as I did..This Breville truly is a wonderful oven..it's even fun to use with it's informative beautiful blue display.

Happy to report my search for a larger convection oven has ended, and it's so easy to clean. I use this applicance daily and it saves me a lot of money on energy when I don't have to use the entire oven in my range.

With the quality and versatility of this oven it makes no sense to look elsewhere. I bought the first one as a "gift" and took it out of the box to check the fit for my counter. It never left my counter. I ordered another one for a gift.

Very glad I paid more and got something I'm proud to have. Works great, and easy to use. Excellent manual, but don't really need it. Excellent design.

This is our first convection oven and couldn't be happier with it. It's quiet, fast and so far has done an excellent job in cooking all the food items we've thrown at it.

I Love this oven, I see only one thing that concerns me is the wire rack comes completely out to fast and I'm afraid some one will get burned bad. It needs to stop at a certain spot.

Solid, roomy toaster oven - we use it more often now instead of our wall oven. Received as a gift for Christmas, we've used it for frozen pizza, baking bread, warming and, of course, toast. Programming is intuitive.Very impressed with the convection function. I've not experienced any problems with being too hot. Door does get hot and improper use will result in a burn. Baking with heat does require common sense techniques such as using hot pads.[...]

Easy to use and more important it is very easy to clean.

Best toaster oven - easy to use, easy to clean.

I use it mostly for toast, but also as an oven when I'm baking a small amount, so I don't have to use my large oven which takes a long time to preheat. So far I've baked cookies in it using parchment paper on the baking tray, they came out great. I've also baked potatoes, rubbed with olive oil, using the baking tray lined with aluminum foil - also came out great, no cleanup required of the baking tray. There are many more settings that I haven't tried yet. The toasting settings seem to be a little low - maybe it's set for fluffy white bread. I eat heftier, whole grain breads, so I always turn it way up towards the dark end of the setting to get my bread toasted properly.

This Oven is perfect. I have other small ovens and they do not stand up to this one. Example: This will bake large baked potatoes as well as you buy in restaurants. Preheats very fast. The amazing thing is I baked a pound cake in this using a angel food pan and the cake rose, almost touching the top elements. The elements only burned one spot of the entire cake and that was because I opened the door quite often to check and make sure the batter did not rise to much and overflow. Amazing, as anyone knows something placed too close to elements should burn completely. I did reduce the temperature near the end of baking from 350 to 320. It also baked corn bread perfect, the best I have had. This is the first item I have ever took the time to review!!!!!

The spring-loaded slide out tray is wonderful.

So far this toaster oven has cooked a pizza and done toast just as the 5 star ratings suggested. My long term concern is I paid a very high price for a toaster with electronic controls that has only a one year warranty and gets very hot. Because of the price/warranty issue I'm not making any recommendations.

I had a giant Delonghi that lasted 10 years that broiled baked and had lots of room. Had a hard time finding an Electric oven that was large and not just a glorified toaster oven. The Breville toasts garlic bread with cheese, bakes pies, cakes and roasts, and makes great home made pizza all to my satisfaction. I read reviews that the outside got hot. The top does but I find this to be a great place to warm my dishes before serving as I hate cold plates and cold food. It was mentioned in other reviews that the manual says not to use tinfoil in it. I have and had no problems. I imagine they are worried about it coming in contact with the heating elements. If one is careful this is easily avoided. The only issue I have had is getting off some burned on cheese just above the door opening. Tried every which way but cannot get stain off. I'm what's known as a picky person and details matter. I am totally satisfied with this oven and hope it stands the test of time. I have had it about 4 months.

We've just received this toaster oven, so I can't address things like cleaning, but so far it's a wonderful addition to the kitchen. The adjustable racks are a real plus, and the ability to do so many things (bake, roast, broil, toast) is very welcome. We have a large commercial range, so heating up that great big stove for a pot pie seems like a real waste. This little oven holds a decent amount and seems great for day-to-day cooking of anything smaller than a Thanksgiving turkey.

Cooking for one it's great to have a quality reliable safe toaster oven. I love to cook, and bake. I enjoy cooking even if it's just for me. This big little oven is amazing and saves me electricity as I do not have to turn on either of my two built-in ovens every day. The toaster oven has performed amazingly well, saved me from burns (because the tray pops out when the door is opened)! It is is a quality product that will outlast three or four of the ineffcient, tinny toater ovens costing under $100.00. I know because I have tried all of the others and wind up either throwing them out or giving them to goodwill. I consider this Breville Toaster Oven a very good investment.

Does basic toasting very well. Has a bagel setting which toasts the cut side, but barely toasts the bottom. Can also replace oven for most baking -- heats up quicker than an oven and doesn't heat up the kitchen as much as a full size oven. Only drawback is the big size.

Great for simple items like chicken nuggets and fries, pizza and toast and bagels. It can also do a small roast and a small roast chicken. I have two Viking Professional ovens and the Breville can compete with them as far as small items go.
