Big bang for the buck

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Our Toshiba DVD Recorder is connected to a DVR "set top box" and is used to archive the video items we wish to keep. The recording is easy, fast and high quality. Color rendering and resolution are as good as any DVD player I have ever owned (Mitsubishi and Sony brands)and perhaps the best among low price "up converter" DVDs I like that it automatically formats a NEW disk.

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Easy to setup and use. However, I would have liked to see an overall Title Generation Option in addition to just the plain chapters. Other earlier DVD recorders offers that (ie Phillips)

Good Little DVD Recorder

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

I found this machine to be easy to use right out of the box. We are using it to copy home movies and old VHS tapes onto DVD's. So far, we have had no problems whatsoever.

Good DVD play, low quality recording.

BOTTOM LINE No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I got this play movies, CDs, MP3 and to archive tv shows. The play functions are all fine. To prevent you from violating copyright, they only allow S-video or RCA video input. So recording from my FIOS DVR to here is very poor quality. I had a much better one about 7 years ago. Part of the problem is HD format is put in black box to keep format, but it is annoying quality. Maybe all records do this to "protect" tv shows you want to save off. Have not played with editing features, but they seem useful if you like to create chapters and delete chapters.

Pros:	Perfectly fine for DVDs
Cons:	Poor remote design, Poor record quality

This is a great product.

I used this to copy my home movies of my daughter. Very easy to do. For me titles and editing were a bit harder, but I'm sure for the average dubbing enthusiast it would have been a piece of cake (ie. I can barely add numbers to my cell phone!).
