Compared to my previous dehumidifier, this GE unit runs very quietly. My other dehumidifier lasted four years and as the years passed it became louder and louder. This may be due to that unit not having a removable air filter. This GE unit does and it has a light on the electronic panel to remind you when it needs cleaned (every 250 hours of operation). I don't mind cleaning a filter every few weeks if it prolongs the life of the machine and keeps it running quietly. Although I've only had this GE dehumidifier for a few weeks, I'm very satisfied with it's performance to date and would recommend it to others.

I am sending the second of these back. I really wanted it to work to replace an older noisy unit that I think is failing. After more than two days, neither unit dropped the humidity at all. I could see a little drip of water from the hose, but it never budged from the level from which it started. Oddly, neither unit would shut off if the bucket was removed (toggling the switch by hand didn't help, either). I'm wondering if there is a connection. Abt is great about the return, but I really don't have the patience to try another one.

One of the better demhudifiers I've bought

Comments about GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
This is second GE dehumidifier I purchased. Main thing I wanted was quiet. It's fairly good on that account. Also is easy to hook-up for external drainage using garden hose, so I don't have to empty bucket all the time. I've had a second one for a couple of years, and it's still working nicely.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Simple to Operate

This dehumidifier works great. I used the hose connection to a drain so I don't need to empty the bucket. I was amazed on how little electricity it uses compared to my old dehumidifier.

I use the dehumidifier in the basement. I would give it a five star but the small bucket requires emptying at least four times daily.

Replaced a 3 year old Soleus with this 40 pint dehumidifier. It is significantly smaller and does a far better job ridding my basement of humidity and musty smell. I'm really impressed with it.
