I hesitated between giving this product an "excellent" or "good" overall rating. It seems that the guts of this dishwasher are indeed excellent but with insufficient engineering devoted to two of the features: the culinary rack and the utensil basket. First the good: It's whisper quiet. A whisper is in fact loud in comparison. You barely hear it when it's running. It normally does an excellent job of cleaning although once I had left a few glasses in the sink and washed my hands over the glasses before, later on, loading them into the dishwasher. [I know, I know.] The soap film, from washing my hands, had dried onto the glasses. Because of that, the glasses going into the dishwasher had dried soap film which two runs through the dishwasher failed to completely remove. I eventually washed the glasses by hand and them put them through the dishwasher and no more soap film. Sort of defeats the purpose though. On the other hand, the dishwasher leaves the dishes, including glassware and stainless clean and spotless from food. I typically use the "normal" cycle and shut off the heated drying and everything still comes out clean and spot free. I definately recommend using a rinse aid. Also, "less is more" when using soap. The dishwasher needs very little soap. I only fill the soap dispenser about 1/2 way and that works fine. I also like the way the dishwasher looks and that the controls are hidden from view when the door is closed. Did I mention it's very quiet? Now the bad #not really bad but not as good#: This would be an "excellent" dishwasher except for the "culinary tool rack" and the "utensil basket". I am still trying to get used to the culinary tool rack, which is the top sliding drawer. For many "culinary tools" the inside height of the rack is not tall enough so I usually only put the eating and some serving utensils in the culinary rack. Large serving spoons and spatulas need to go elsewhere. Also, if the tongs in the culinary rack were a bit taller they'd hold the eating utensils better. Finally, the culinary tool rack robs space from the rack where you put glassware. My least favorite thing about the dishwasher is the utensil basket which occupies an entire side of the main drawer #where you put the dishes#. It's too big taking up too much valuable space. If it were 1/3 the size or even 1/4 the size, it would be just fine. Also, there are small door closures on the top of the utensil basket which seem a bit cheap on an expensive dishwasher. The doors on the utensil basket routinely come off their little tracks which is an annoyance. In my opinion additional engineering is called for in both the culinary rack and the utensil basket. In sum, this is a really good dishwasher. I would indeed buy the same one again although I'd like to see a bit more engineering devoted to both the culinary tool rack and the utensil basket. +

I have always had KitchenAid dishwashers and found them to be unsurpassed. I entertain a lot, and in my last house, I had 3 of them (2 in kitchen and one in the bar). This is the worst dishwasher I have ever owned. First, the one hour wash does nothing but santize. To really wash, you have to go with the power wash, which takes hours. It is so slow and still doesn't do the job that earlier models did. Plus, it is so cheaply made. I have had it less than a year and the rollers are already broken. I will never buy another KitchenAid dishwasher. This one has caused me to lose all faith in KitchenAid, if it was willing to put its name on an appliance this bad, especially at this price.

Love this dishwasher!
Comments about KitchenAid Superba Series KUDE60FVBL Black Undercounter Dishwasher:
I bought this dishwasher a few months ago and I just love it. It's very spacious, nice looking and runs extremely quiet. The racks slide so easily, you can push them in with a finger. The silverware rack is large and free standing so you don't have to hold onto it while you unload the silver. The only thing I'm getting used to is having the controls on top of the door instead of on the front, so when I open the door I would inadvertently activate a wash cycle button. It's just a matter of getting used to it, so now it's fine.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I really like this dishwasher. I like the layout, and I love the huge silverware tray. I like the fold down mini shelves on the top rack too. It is VERY quiet too. We have had the bottom rack come off the runners a few times which is annoying. A 5 star rating would have been awarded if it'd never come off the runners and if it had a third top shelf for knives and utensils like some of the other dishwashers we looked at. All in all, a good value.
Very quiet but poor design in useless third rack.

This is the quietest dishwasher ever!! But, the design is not user friendly therefore the average rating and non recommendation of this model. I think a man designed it! I let my husband pick it out. He wanted all matching appliances so we bought the Architect Series in the oven/micro combo, fridge, cooktop and dishwasher. So far in less than six months I have had repairs/replacement on the cooktop and oven so I'm not a big fan of KA at this point. Love the quiet of this dishwasher but I should have brought my favorite cup and plate with me to 'test drive' the fit before we bought. The third rack I thought would be an awesome addition, is a waste. If you want to put a ladle in there, you have to reconfigure the baskets to make it fit but in doing so you can't put a glass in there any taller than about 7". If you lower the middle rack to accommodate the taller glass, then your regular sized dinner plates don't fit on the bottom. So the third rack will really only accommodate flat wooden spoons or scrapers. Items in the third rack must be flat. Even with the middle rack at the normal level, my favorite ice tea glasses will only fit on the left side. They are 7.5" high. Tervis tumblers have to go on the bottom. Hindsight - should have brought items with me for a fit before I purchased. Love the quietness of this dishwasher but the design leaves much to be desired. If I could change the configuration of the racks, I would give this 5 Stars. But because the third rack is useless, I would not recommend the design to a friend. And, buyer beware, take your favorite dishes for a fit before you buy any dishwasher.

The Best Dishwasher I've Ever Owned
from Holliston, MA, United States
My last dishwasher was deemed un-repairable in August and I was extremely frustrated because we had gone through 3 dishwashers since buying our house and the last one didn't even last 7 years. With Thanksgiving dinner at my house pending, I finally broke down and bought this Kitchenaid dishwasher and I'm so glad I did. It gets my dishes cleaner than anyone I have ever owned and it's really quiet. While I wanted the stainless steel tub I was hesitant about dealing with constant fingerprints on the door. I discovered a nice stainless cleaner that when applied once a week, keeps it looking shiny and fingerprint free.

By always rewashing dishes
from Overland Park, KS, United States
We bought this dishwasher Oct. 2014 and I have to say I've been very disappointed. There ARE always bits of food left on the dishes and silverware and I end up rewashing things by hand. I've tried loading things differently and using different settings. Always the same results- bits of food left on things. The Pro-wash doesn't seem to work and the tough setting seems to do the best but I still have food left on dishes/silverware. The top rack is very annoying as it constantly rolls out. Nice feature but needs to be looked at. Very disappointed!
Quietly Cleans, but too much Condensation
from Baton Rouge, LA, United States
I've had dishwasher almost 3 months. It is very quiet & cleans well. Only problem is condensation accumulates on sides and back inside panels even with drying agent level full. Control panel is hidden at the top of the door which gives it a sleek look. Small light upper right changes color as wash cycle progresses. Easy to tell when dishes are clean.
