A Really Expensive Headache
from Wild Rose, WI
Comments about KitchenAid Superba Series Stainless Steel Undercounter Dishwasher:
We purchased this dishwasher in 2009 after having two leaking dishwashers (another brand) in 2 years in our new home. Having once sold Kitchenaid for my family's business, I went back to what I thought was a tried and true brand. For the first 3.5 years this dishwasher seemed to work great. Then the problems started. This dishwasher started leaking and the cycle started running long. After putting a couple hundred dollars into our dishwasher I hoped the problems would end. Unfortunately they have not. Off and on for the last 2 years I have opened my dishwasher to find water still sitting in the bottom of the dishwasher. Sometimes a simple cancel on the cycles will drain it but sometimes I have to manually remove all the water. I refuse to put more money into my 6 year old dishwasher. I would not recommend spending the extra money on all the features and supposed quality if the dishwasher is disposable in 4-6 years. Save your money and buy a cheap one every 4-6 years. Kitchenaid was a go to brand for me but I am seriously rethinking this as I look at replacing this dishwasher.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Very Bad Experience

About Me Casual Cook
We invested in this model for a new home we built and really appreciate its looks, as well as how quiet the system operates. Early on we noticed issues around drying, as well as staining on the inside of the door. We were told to eliminate the drying problem, we needed to select Sani Rinse. It helped somewhat. The real problems started close to our 2 year anniversary with the dishwasher. The door started opening in mid cycle. Because it is so quiet, we usually didn't know the door opened, stopping the cycle, until we got up in the morning and wanted coffee cups, or some bowls for the kids. We got this repaired - expensive as a percentage of the purchase price - and went on our merry way. Soon after the door started opening again, and then one day just crashed down. The pulley system in the door/chasis broke. Another couple hundred dollars to repair. We just recently had the door start popping open again, and have decided to throw in the towel. We have a number of Kitchen Aid appliances, but have decided to take another route for dishwashers. This has been an extremely frustrating experience. You just expect better quality from a machine in this price range - or any price range for that matter.

Superba is superb!

Dishwasher runs flawlessly. Was initially nervous about the use/practicality of the third rack for culinary tools as I thought it would prevent me from using the second rack at the highest level to maximize space below for large pots. I was wrong. The culinary rack is the best; I load it with spatulas, spoons, knives etc with plenty of space and height still available for my glasses.Best dishwasher I have owned so far and I have had at least 7!
