This is our second try at a dishwasher; we previosuly had a Bosch that was not good to the point that we thought there must be something wrong with it. This is the polar opposite - it's reliable, it cleans all the way, and it dries all the way. The only two things I would change are (1) the loading tongs are strangely configured and make it a bit tricky to maximize space; and (2) the control lights are an annoying blue color, and the control panel looks a bit cheap. But do not let those 2 deter you from this machine; it is a great dishwasher thus far.

This dishwasher is a little louder than we had hoped and a little louder than the 10-year old comparable model it replaced. Also, the loading of larger items (bowls, etc.) is a bit awkward. I had been aware of both of these things through the reviews; was just hoping for a little more because of the high ratings.

Plastic Parts Wear out
By Just the Facts Joe
from New Jersey
Comments about KitchenAid KUDS30IVBL Architect Series II Black Undercounter Dishwasher:
Although I am satisfied with the performance of the dishwasher as far as cleaning, efficiency, sound, their are many plastic parts used for the racks. These parts, particularly the wheels / axles wear out. I have replaced the upper rack wheel assemblies twice (~$100), and now the lower wheels are all breaking and cost $80 for each assembly. There are 4 of them.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Now the final review...
from Baton Rouge, LA
Because now he stands curbside.Bought it 07/23/2010. After 2 years the nice blue lights of the electronic started blinking, than they started failing, than the whole electronic failed. It was extremely difficult to start, after month of ongoing repair and a lot of ducktape under careful usage we could wash our dishes. The stubborn messes as advertised never gone away, useless at all the extra spray jets.Than after 3 Years the silverware baskets braking apart on the bottom, one after another had big holes. Two month ago the dishes came dirtier out as going in. Upper spray arm not working anymore. Removing and cleaning doesn't help, a new washer ring doesn't work, so we have to wash only on the bottom rack. The energy usage was high all the time, the water usage also, nothing with energy and water saving, against my old model from whirlpool what stand up from 1996 to 2010 no difference, the only thing I didn't have to use him every day because he was roomier inside as the old one. But he needed double the time to get the work done.THE ONLY GOOD TO SAY ABOUT THIS SHADDY PIECE OF WORKMANSHIP IS, HE WAS QUIET.Never again Kitchenaid, prices are high, spare part prices exorbitant high, the whole thing is a nuisance, be warned.

Low Quality Parts
By Foodie in Parker
from Parker, CO
We bought our KitchenAid Superba dishwasher in January. In October as I was preparing a wedding cake for our niece the top rack cheap plastic parts that hold the rollers in place broke and pieces fell into the motor. Back and forth with the sales company and the warranty group . . . we ended up having to pay for the whole thing ourselves just to get the wedding cake dishes cleaned up! Don't recommend KitchenAid.
Sure beats our last dishwasher - me!

Just realized today we have had this dishwasher for five years. I discovered the amount of time because I realized I had not cleaned a filter in all that time - it handles it! Quiet, efficient. Excellent.

Not a good product
from Napa, CA, United States
This dishwasher is a joke. Does not wash dishes at all you have to rinse everything spotless to only find 2 hours later after waiting for load to complete that the load is spotty and not clean but with h20 spots. Cleaned it with a toothbrush to find nothing clogging the motor or where the h20 comes out. Coffee mugs have coffee spots and leaving a minuscule amount of food will make the whole load dirty. The on button popped off and you have to push the buttons really hard to get it to start. Service man told me nothing was wrong with it.

I bought a couple of months ago. washes the dishes really well, even cleans stuck on food. Extremely quiet. Use the control lock, otherwise brushing past it, reaching to cupboards and hitting the control buttons, can turn it on. Runs alot longer in cycles than I was used to. Start in evening and put dishes away next day. Only way to tolerate the long cycles.
Buttons not easy to work, and doesn't dry super well
from Maryland, United States
I find often find myself starting and/ or stopping a cycle inadvertently when I am working at the counter above my dishwasher, or reaching in the cabinet above to get something. I therefore keep the unit just a little ajar all the time when it's off, and staying away from the unit when it's on (the cycles are very long). In a cruel twist of irony, the buttons don't seem sensitive enough when I actually try to press them with my finger!! In addition, I'm trying to get used to the new "high energy efficiency", which translates into less drying power. My 30-yr old Kitchen Aid dishwasher dried dishes better than this unit. I suspect, however, that this may be the case with all new dishwashers in the US, thanks to the new efficiency standards.(Hint: first prime the hot water at the sink before turning the dishwasher on.)
Great looking and quiet
We have been happy with the appliance- It looks great in our kitchen, is quiet and holds more dishes and glasses than our prior unit and the outside dimensions are the same
Love it - it's so quiet.

Really happy with my choice of a Kitchen Aid, debated between this and a European model but likes the extra room in the Kitchen Aid. Cleans great and so quiet in our open space. Can't even tell it is running!Only complaint, I love the silverware holders but they don't stay inn place.
