This is our second try at a dishwasher; we previosuly had a Bosch that was not good to the point that we thought there must be something wrong with it. This is the polar opposite - it's reliable, it cleans all the way, and it dries all the way. The only two things I would change are (1) the loading tongs are strangely configured and make it a bit tricky to maximize space; and (2) the control lights are an annoying blue color, and the control panel looks a bit cheap. But do not let those 2 deter you from this machine; it is a great dishwasher thus far.

This dishwasher is a little louder than we had hoped and a little louder than the 10-year old comparable model it replaced. Also, the loading of larger items (bowls, etc.) is a bit awkward. I had been aware of both of these things through the reviews; was just hoping for a little more because of the high ratings.

Not a good product

Comments about KitchenAid Architect Series II White Undercounter Dishwasher:
This dishwasher is a joke. Does not wash dishes at all you have to rinse everything spotless to only find 2 hours later after waiting for load to complete that the load is spotty and not clean but with h20 spots. Cleaned it with a toothbrush to find nothing clogging the motor or where the h20 comes out. Coffee mugs have coffee spots and leaving a minuscule amount of food will make the whole load dirty. The on button popped off and you have to push the buttons really hard to get it to start. Service man told me nothing was wrong with it.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I bought a couple of months ago. washes the dishes really well, even cleans stuck on food. Extremely quiet. Use the control lock, otherwise brushing past it, reaching to cupboards and hitting the control buttons, can turn it on. Runs alot longer in cycles than I was used to. Start in evening and put dishes away next day. Only way to tolerate the long cycles.

Buttons not easy to work, and doesn't dry super well
from Maryland, United States
I find often find myself starting and/ or stopping a cycle inadvertently when I am working at the counter above my dishwasher, or reaching in the cabinet above to get something. I therefore keep the unit just a little ajar all the time when it's off, and staying away from the unit when it's on (the cycles are very long). In a cruel twist of irony, the buttons don't seem sensitive enough when I actually try to press them with my finger!! In addition, I'm trying to get used to the new "high energy efficiency", which translates into less drying power. My 30-yr old Kitchen Aid dishwasher dried dishes better than this unit. I suspect, however, that this may be the case with all new dishwashers in the US, thanks to the new efficiency standards.(Hint: first prime the hot water at the sink before turning the dishwasher on.)
This dishwasher does not get dishes clean
from Redwood City, CA
The control panel went out after a couple of months. The salesperson at Sears said the dishes did not need to be rinsed before putting them in the dishwasher. Totally UNTRUE. In fact the repairman said they must be fully free of food or it clogs the motor. The utensil holder has poorly designed lids that broke off. There is a hole in one of the sections. A part that holds the top side section up broke off. The glasses still have lip gloss on them. Even rinsed dishes still are dirty. There's white spots on plastic even though we use a rinse agent. Plus, most plastic take out containers melt in it. It takes forever to complete a load. My friend got a Bosch and I should have done the same. Every time the repairman comes out, he says there is nothing wrong with it.
Great looking and quiet
We have been happy with the appliance- It looks great in our kitchen, is quiet and holds more dishes and glasses than our prior unit and the outside dimensions are the same
Love it - it's so quiet.

Also, bought KitchenAide electric range, refrigerator and microwave. Love them all.
