Comments about KitchenAid KUDS50FVBL Architect Series II Black Undercounter Dishwasher:
We have had this dishwasher for ~5.5 years now and have been very happy. It's quieter than most models and does a good job of cleaning. Although just recently, the glasses on the top rack are coming out dirty, spotted. In looking at the manual, there isn't any maintenance requirements and we read most of the online suggestions. Nothing appears to be related. It was really great up until now.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

After few years having this dishwasher we are not happy. We had to change the basket because the plastic broke and let the appliance to pass through. But the main problem, the glasses and little bowls in the upper rack began dirtier and dirtier as we use it ( even if the spray arm is spinning properly. Cheaper than our old plastic dishwasher at 350$.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Have had this model for years and it has performed amazingly well. Have friends who have presumably higher-end brands and have been dissatisfied with their models; some have even switched out to Kitchen Aid.

Have not been happy
from Sublimity, OR, United States
Although this dishwasher has a nice look, after owning one for the past 4 years we have not been happy. Service problems, it is much nosier than expected, our utensil basket has several areas on the bottom of it that are broken out which allows our utensils fall out the bottom and a couple of the adjustable racks we have just thrown away because they don't work.
Great dishwasher with only 1 blemish

Dishwasher met all our needs. We were surprised that the status lights aren't visible when the door is closed and turn off when you open the door.

About Me Avid Cook
We bought this dishwasher to replace a similar model that died after about 7 yrs of use. This model matches other KitchenAid appliances in our kitchen. Overall it is easy to use, and with the Electrasol powerball tablets that came with our in the starter pack it cleans really well. After using this model, I probably would have choosen a less expensive version that doesn't have the utensil tray at the very top. The feature is the main difference I could find in this model from the next less expensive one. We do use the tray for kids utensils, but our daily use spoons don't fit in it and the regular utensil spot on the bottom is plenty big. In addition the tray takes up space that makes tall glasses harder to load. You can shift the upper rack down, but then full sized dishes don't fit. This model is a 50FV, the one with out the tray is a 40FV. Also I might consider the one with controls on the front. One advantage of top mounted controls on this model is that kids are less likely to press them. The disadvantage is that you can't see what stage the dishwasher is on because the indicator lights are covered by the counter. The model with front view controls is a 40CV and is even less expensive than this one. Lastly one feature shown in the manual and not included is the delicate items pouch. We would have used this for sippy cup straws, etc. but it wasn't included with the model we received.

The only negative is that the top rack doesn't completely dry.
We love, love, love this dishwasher
By Suzy Homemaker
We especially love the extra silverware rack, the special knife rack in the bottom and the little clips for holding plastic items. While there are some models which cannot be heard at all, this one is much quieter than any I've had in the past. Family is amazed at how quiet it is.I chose this dishwasher and brand, after using a friend's Bosch which did not hold much at all in comparison, left things wet and loading was very difficult.
