This has all the benefits of a great LCD TV with many of the benefits of plasma TVs as well (deep blacks, decent viewing angle). For the current generation, this is a fantastic TV with a great picture, full LED array, low power usage, very easy to set up, and very easy to operate. It also has the best matte screen I have seen that reflects very little even during daylight hours.

ABT and Brad were great in helping me get this tv while it was on back order. The TV is great and it came with the latest firmware 3.1.7 which means no Lip sync issues with Time Warner. Great product

Great Picture Versus my LG Plasma. Very Low Heat coming from the TV versus my Plasma. Picture Qualty is Outstanding. The Sound could use improvement but if you use a Home theater system you will not even notice the TV sound quality at all. Huge picture difference over the Plasma I owed.Very easy setup .. I would recommend this TV to anyone, the LED/LCD TV by LG is great!!! I am still amazed watching the Discovery Channel in High Definition of the Amazon Jungle I could swear I was right there!!!That is how great the picture quality was on the LG55H90.

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
This TV looks beautiful just like the reviews mostly state. The professional reviews call attention to a few issues that I can address: 1. a "halo" effect when viewed off-angle. Yes, especially when looking at a bright 4:3 picture, walk to the side of the TV and the black bars brighten up somewhat. I doubt this will be an issue for most people; you'll mostly notice if you're watching for a long time from the off-angle (like in a crowded room) or while walking through the room. For typical viewing it's a non-issue. 2. Judder. In other words, jerky motion due to upsampling to the native frequency of the display (say from 24 fps to 120 or 240). I'm not sure if I noticed this at all. If so, it was minor and forgettable. The set is marketed as 240Hz but I've read it's really more like 120Hz display with some fancy 240Hz processing. Either way, 120 is still exactly 5x of 24 fps and 4x of 30 fps, so you shouldn't expect many issues here, and I didn't see them. Personally, I think the professional reviewers must be using high-speed cameras to catch any visual glitches that most viewers won't really notice. 3. Lips sync issue while viewing HDMI with output through the TV's speaker. I don't even use the TV's speaker, but I tested this out using my PS3 with Blu-Ray just to see. I didn't have the issue. LG has a firmware that fixes this problem anyway, so if you have the issue, call them up and they'll send someone out to re-flash your TV. I am guessing LG has applied the firmware to their new TVs so probably if you're buying one now, it won't have the issue at all. Aside from all that, the picture is very sharp, with dark blacks. I'm using the THX mode rather than the "standard" out of the box setup. Eventually I'll try to do a little custom calibration too, but I have no real complaints. The set uses way less power than a plasma too, with no real possibility of burn-in and no issues with high altitude causing buzzing or shortening its lifespan. If you were thinking of getting a plasma but have any of those objections, I think this line is the way to go. The lighting is very smooth too, unlike the complaints I've heard about Samsung's LED-backlit LCDs that cost more anyway. I used to have a Samsung LED-lit DLP set and in most respects I like this TV as much or more. And I think that's saying something because those LED DLPs had amazing pictures.

Picture quality is the best I've seen, and I shopped around a bit. The colors are vivid, the contrast is deep. Fast-action scenes, like baseball and Nascar, are perfect. It's like sitting at the venue. LG knocked one out of the park with this TV. I replaced a Sony 57" rear projection with the LG. No comparison.
