BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

No question the Canon 2011 HD Vixia camcorders are first rate. However Cannon went on the cheep with that joke of a battery they included. They are so cheep that they [*] ship me a $900 camcorder without a 10-cent lens cap or a carry strap.

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Canon's business model, like that of HP is to make products that only us their propritary add-on products like batteries or ink. Its no secret and you know about it but go ahead and buy their product anyway. Why? - because the 2011 Vixia line of HD Canon Camcorders are super smart and steady in the automatic mode. The best at a competitive price.
