We have 3 indoor dogs, 2 are long hair golden retrievers. We've put up with hair and debris on the carpets because we couldn't find a vacuum with enough suction. Even our $1,200 Kirby couldn't get the job done. But, when I borrowed my neighbor's Hoover Platinum I knew my prayers were answered! Mine was on back order, but well worth the wait. My carpets look like new again and we've added another golden to the mix! THANKS ABT for great service and the best price [$] devlivered!!!

I lke the way it cleans carpets, but only so-so on bare floors. Only two attachments, and light weight ones at that. No wand extention availble so if you have drapes or spider webs on the ceiling you can't reach them. Also unit is too large to fit under and around furniture, so the lack of an extension for the hose, and a smaller power brush is a very large negative. Apparently the accountants who cut manufacturing costs on this unit never consulted the engineering department about its lack of standard cleaning applications that every home owners uses. For the price and the name I expected a premium Hoover vacumn cleaner, but my older $100.00 Hoover out performed this model, and is built out of more heavy duty and metal parts, with more cleaning tools and a longer hose. I don't advise this unit for anyone who wishes to clean their home. Its like a car with no doors, seats, window glass, or hood or trunk lid. The basis rug cleaning works, but nothing else works properly because of lack of good design.

Absolutely Love it!

Comments about Hoover Platinum Collection Cyclonic Bagless Upright Vacuum:
I bought this vacuum during a Hoover sale. I read other reviews to decide which model was best for me. I have to agree with those glowing reviews I read -- this vacuum does have power and really vacuums! I particularly like how easy it is to empty the bagless container. After just the first run, the container was already half full of dust! This is the vac I have needed. The price was so affordable, it is hard to believe the great quality. I bought a cheap unit about six months ago from a discount store for $50 and just wasted our money. It would collect dirt, but was not nearly good enough. Is it odd to love a vacuum -- not when it is as good as this one. :)

I purchased the Hoover ...

I purchased the Hoover WindTunnel Max Bagless Upright several weeks ago. I had previously purchased a Dyson Animal Sweeper that was only a piece of Junk. I then purchase an Eureka that wasn't much better. I love my new Hoover it is the best!
Very good vacuum

This is the second Hoover I have used and I am very pleased. The hose is very long, and the cord retracts into the unit. Great value. My daughter has an expensive model, but this works just as well. I would buy another one.
It's the owner not the vacuum that causes clogs
By Rick in Atlanta

This is the best vacuum I've ever used. I had to write a review after reading several people report that the vacuum "worked great at first then clogged up and stopped working" or similar wording. The problem is not the vacuum. It's those owners. The machine does great with dry dust particles and dirt. I have two Jack Russell Terriers who shed every day of the year. It's amazing how much hair and dirt this machine can suck out of the carpet. Dust bunnies don't stand a chance when this machine rounds them up. That is until you happen to vacuum up some water. I was using the wand attachment around the edges of the kitchen one day and happened to glide near a small spot of water that the dogs had splashed out of their water bowl. At the time I thought it was no big deal. It was a big deal the next time I needed to vacuum. The symptoms were just as I've read in many of the reviews from disappointed owners. Clogged. Sluggish. Heats up. Won't work. I took apart the collection cannister and the wind tunnel assembly and quickly found the problem. That little bit of water mixed with dog hair and dirt had been whipped up into a fuzzy muddy paste that eventually hardened and was plugging up at least a third of the holes that make up the cone shaped filtering assembly. I took the assembly apart and gave it a thorough cleaning and soak in the bath tub. I let everything dry overnight and put it back together the next day. Voila. Back to full suction and cleaning power. Other sources of moisture that have caused issues: Fresh Christmas tree needles. Small bits of mud tracked into the house. Using the hand held attachments in the bathroom shortly after someone had showered. Each time a thorough cleaning has restored the vacuum to its original stellar performance level. One final thought: taking the wind tunnel assembly apart might look to be a complicated ordeal. Don't let it psych you out. It seems to me that the pieces are designed in a way that will prevent you from screwing it up. t work no more" review on hoover.comtake care to avoid sucking up any amount of water or things that are moist or wet. This machine has the power to make those wet items magically disappear as fast as it can eliminate a herd of dust bunnies.
5 years and still going strong!
from Columbus, OH, United States
Bought this bagless upright around 5 years ago and it's been the BEST vacuum I've ever owned! I have a tri-level house so we have a dyson on the lowest level, and our Hoover on the highest. The Hoover has out performed the dyson! I recommend any Hoover product to anyone shopping for a vacuum.
Stopped picking up
from Lake Lure, NC
My husband bought me this for Christmas. I have used it several times but today it stopped picking up dirt on the hardwood floors and the suction coming from the handheld house is not good. I turned it over to see if there was any blockage but there is no red dial on the bottom of the vacuum. Also, the handheld house no longer clicks into place.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Burn smell when its on.
from GA, United States
We got this vacuum for our wedding and after dumping out the contents and starting the vacuum back up I noticed a strong burning smell. I checked the filters and bought new ones because they were pretty dirty. After changing them the vacuum still smells like burning plastic.
bare floor feature doesn't work
from Fostoria, OH
I bought this vacuum a few months ago because I purchased shag carpet and I couldn't push my Dyson through it. I also have laminate floors that I cannot use the beater brush on. I push the button but it will not stay down therefore the beaters keep spinning. Tried to call and left callback number, but no return call yet.
I bought this vacuum as a replacement and I am "Highly Disappointed". Same this is happening to me as several other owners. Very, very hard to push and the cord is now acting up. I am sorry I bought it. If I could take it back I would. When I know that I have to clean I get aggravated that I have to use it knowing how hard it is to push.
hate this vac
from Rutland, MA, United States
I bought this vac about a year ago, it worked good for about a week then it started with this annoying sqeek that won't go away, it is very hard to push and have to go over the same spot many times, I have a few very low pile rugs that it won't push on no matter what setting I use it also leaves dust marks on the carpet where ever you pull it back and then push forward again. The bare floor button makes the vac suction the floor. I can't stress enough how much I hate this thing but have to keep using it because can't afford to buy another one. oh yeah when I empty it of dog fur I have to reach my hands and fingers to to pull all the fur out of it. Worst vac I ever owned.
