Comments about GE White King-Size Capacity Frontload Washer:
Washer had drain pump leaks, mold smell issues, and shock starting roughly 6 years after purchase. I would think there are better units out there for the price. Lasted 10 years. We changed brands.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

10 Years and still going strong
from Maryville, TN, USA
I know they don't sell this model anymore, but I had to say how much I love my washer. I've had it ten years now, and it still works great. I don't have a problem with musty smell, but we do a load with bleach about once a week and we leave the door cracked open between loads.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

A Mold Problem
Unfortunately I am one of many people who has found that after awhile the washer builds up a very moldy smell. And clothes will come out of the washer with linger mold smell. I always leave the washer door open to air it out between loads, but that has not helped. The washer works great, but certainly the moldy smell in our laundry room is a problem.

About Me Frequent User
This is the first time I've been compelled to write a review. Both myself and my sister have this machine and we both HATE it! First, it breeds mold. Even running a bleach/clean cycle every month leaves mold in the can't reach areas. It's a very high maintance machine to keep clean, and then it still seems disgusting. Second, it takes WAY too long. The 1:01 minute whites cycles often takes over and hour and a half! Then, heavy items such as towels finish the cycle dripping wet. So, that hour and a half cycle turns into an hour forty-five when you run the additional spin and drain cycle. And some times it takes 2 spin and drain cycles! So, after 2 hours, one lousy load of towels are done. Just HATE this machine!

I like it

I've read a lot of bad things about this washer and I just don't understand it. I love this thing, I got a great price and its done a fabulous job for me and my family. I'm doing about 2-3 loads per week. My clothes come out smelling beautifully. Maybe those other reviewers aren't using the required HE washing detergent.

About Me Occasional User
I used to have a top load washer and could wash all my clothes in 2-3 loads each week in about 1.5 hours. As a single person this was about all the time I needed to commit to laundry. With this new front-load machine I almost need a physics degree to calculate the weight of each garment in each load then add in color sorting. Towels can't be washed with underwear. Sheets can't be washed with t-shirts. And of course, I don't want to wash my lights with my darks. Now I end up running about 4-5 loads a week and it takes 4-5 hours. That's right each load in this machine takes 57 MINUTES. Even when I set for light load (which I did today) the timer at the on-set says the load will be done in 39 MINUTES, well that was 40 MINUTES ago and the machine needs another 17 MINUTES to complete the cycle. Convenient, because it gave me time to write this review while I waste time waiting for a towel and t-shirts to get clean. Give me a river bed and a wash board...I could get my small amount of laundry cleaned faster the super-old-fashioned way!!!
