This refrigerator is ideal for single/two person household. I had the exact model purchased in July of 1998 at a cost $160.00 higher from a local appliance dealer in Elmhurst than the one purchased from ABT. Kinda wish I purchased the original frig from ABT then. I junked the old one without calling for service. I applied the service call ($125.00-175.00) towards the new unit, afterall, its eleven years old and what else is going to go. The improvements are slight but noticeable. Two separate bins vice one on my original unit plus there is a clear window on shelve above to see the contents of the bins without opening them. The handle is easier to grab being that it is round at the top. It now has a separate butter-keeper that I did not have before. There is a "full" shelf in the freezer from one side to the other vice a half shelf that kept falling if overloaded. The only complaint that I have with the new unit verses the old is that it appears that the freezer is smaller. The vents drawing the cold air down to the refrigerator section are pointed towards the door. The old unit was minus the vents on the floor. Apparently, they were on the top and less efficient.Lastly, I swear by Whirlpool as I have three other major appliances bearing their name and I couldn't be happier. Very reliable.

I am frustrated with the lower door gasket (freezer is on top). The top end corner area of door doesn't close all the way, letting out the cold air. So, for the past weeks I've tried everything such as: applying a little vasoline to help with the seal, putting scotch tape over area where air is coming out, taping the door shut tight, even putting little strips of leather inside the door gasket lip to prop it outward so as to grip onto the refrigerator better. At first I followed the trouble shooting suggestions in the product direction booklet. All have worked (separately or in combo) temporarily to some degree, but at the end of the day (or in a couple hours) the gasket loosens again and cold air escapes. It's now my daily routine to tape the door 3-4 times a day. Whirlpool was recommended to me by a relative who sells refrigerators at a major dept store, and I'm disappointed. Also at some point when I first got the fridge, it froze my food in the lower compartment. But now that doesn't happen, so it may have remedied itself. (or maybe the gasket leak keeps it from freezing). The upper freezer door gasket works great, and I'm very happy about that. For quality, overall all it is fair to average. I almost put in a poor rating due to the ongoing frustrating gasket issue on lower door, but the rest of the fridge (so far) seems okay.

About Me Casual Cook
Comments about Whirlpool Bisque Top Freezer Refrigerator:
We use this refridgerator in our office and it fits perfect. With the number of people in the office it has plenty of room on the inside and doesn't take up to much space in the office kitchen. We Love it!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Good product, wrong model for ME.

My frig went out so I ran and purchased a new one fast as I was leaving town for a few days and wanted it settled. Should have researched more and talked to others. I just got what I had before-freezer on top so I wouldn't have to 'learn' something new. BUT- the freezer is large and deep (yay) AND the frig is also. The back of the shelves are really deep and I spend a great deal of time almost upside down finding things. The door storage is large. But the only place for wine is the door and you have to put several bottles in that section (and all of the others) so things won't rattle or fall over. One section (for eggs?) has an uneven bottom and little jars won't sit up. I'm sure it is a good frig. Things are cold but I REALLY wish I had gotten a freezer on the bottom at least and probably double doors even if I would have had to choose stainless as the outside. Energy efficiency will be improved at least over my 30 year old model. :-)

My refrigerator is so beautiful and I could not believe the immediate savings on my electric bill. I could not be happier with an other refrigerator. It is perfect.

We bought this refrigerator for our camp. It was an economical purchase that fits our application. We don't use it 24/7, so we didn't want to spend a lot. This provides enough space to serve our guests and has the basic features we need.
Great price, alot quieter than the 30 yr old GE given to us by her parents

I bought this to replace an old frig in my outbuilding (my "mancave"), a frig that used to be our home refrigerator but got so bad at cooling and leaked around the door that I considered it a lost cause. That can happen after 30 years. Anyway, the new machine looks good and does exactly what I need it to do. The only problem I had with it was associated with the door handles transference. This model allows you to switch the handles and hinges from one side to the other so the doors will open to the right or the left. The swap worked just fine except the plastic hole plugs (covering the extra screw holes) were a nightmare to remove. I ended up cutting the tops off the plugs and driving the remainder of the plastic down into the insulation. No harm done. But those plugs could have been designed for easy removal. Anyway, after that everything has been exactly what I wanted, and I couldn't be more pleased with it.

We bought this unit as a replacement for a Whirlpool 21 cf unit that served us very well. However, we are dissapointed with the limited shelf adjustment options and that the door shelving is in the way for adjusting the interior shelves and opening the bottom drawers when the unit as a wall against the refrigerator's side with the door hinges
Great Simple Fridge for tyhe Money
from Brockport, NY, United States
This Whirlpool fridge replaced an Amana branded lower fridge that died a little early. Changed to left hand, which for some reason costs extra that I'll never figure out, and it is the BEST fridge we have had in years. Everything fit pretty well. Great door space plan, easy access and roomy. When we finished loading it from the old fridge we were surprised how much room was left, both were same size.
