This are a very efficient washer/dryer combo. Both are extremely quiet and clean the clothes much more effectively than a typical top-loader. I installed both myself. I built my own pedestals. The washer needed very solid base to rest on. This was a challenge and I would probably recommend buying the pedestals to anyone else considering building their own. We spent about 25% of the cost of the pedestals, but it took a great deal of time to lock it into place. The dryer was very lightweight and easy to install. Good directions for the power connections. No cord was included though, but there are many 220V cords to choose, so that was fine. End of cycle buzzer is loud, but not terribly annoying. Great dryer & washer combo.

The magnetic door lock is a common problem seen on-line and for me. Constantly get the "F29" code on the machine and have to spend hours trying to get the door unlocked. Now the machine will shut off before a cycle is complete. I have always been a loyal Whirlpool customer but will NEVER purchase another product with the Whirlpool name attached.

Definitely NOT worth the money....problems abound
The claim that you can wash 12 pairs of jeans in a single load - not adult jeans, not if you want them clean. At the most we can wash 6 pair of adult jeans (and we're not large people) or the jeans don't get clean. As for the plastic covering the buttons you push to start, etc this machine - yes, it didn't take a couple of years before the plastic wore through and the button is exposed. We have had the washer and dryer (match set) since Oct 2007 (it is now Sept 2016) and we've had the service person out here multiple times for the washer. There's a leak and it's still not fixed. The seal at the front was replaced but come to find out that's not where the leak originates - that still hasn't been determined. So we have a pan under the washer and must dump the leaked water after every load. This was an expensive machine and we bought it because - we were told front loading washes better and with less detergent (NOT true as far as we've experienced), you can wash 12-15 pairs of jeans in a single load (NOT true for us if you want the clothes clean), and it's very quiet (not true...still as noisy as our old Kenmore). I noticed there is a class action suit against Whirlpool for a "mold" issue - we would probably have that problem too but I keep the door open after every wash so the tub dries out. This was something I read that you have to do with front loaders - no more closing the door when a load is running. The water leak is now a constant problem and after spending several hundred dollars and still not fixed we've decided to look into a new washer....and definitely NOT a whirlpool. Our model is WFW8400TW00....for those who want to compare complaints.
Awesome and Efficient!

My wife and I got this washer and dryer set back in 2007 and love how efficient it is. We have used this with 3 kids and our stuff since the day we bought it and have only had minor issues with the drain that needed to be cleaned out when some random baby sock ended up down there. This thing rocks! We can't praise the efficiency enough, especially using the HE detergents. If you are in the market, make this your choice.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Died after 7 years

Needed major repair at seven years old. I expected a longer life from a Whirlpool. Repairman is hard to find and is extra expensive if the dryer is stacked on top. More cost efficient to replace than repair if stacked with dryer.
I have loved this washer!

I can say that I have really liked using this machine! I've owned it for about 10 years now & never had a problem with it, except for having to change the bellow. Yes, occasionally I would have to open the drain & remove a few coins, or a bobby pin, even a small allen wrench once, but this was not the machines fault but mine. If this had happened in an old machine with an agitator I'd probably have ended up with a hole in the tub! The drain is very easy to get to, this is a very simple fix. This washer spins my clothes almost completely dry!
Attractive. Just keeps working.

Overall it gets the job done

We got it 9 years ago. Since the very 1st day had some fault code & begun my appliance repairman career, part-time at home. So far replaced 2-3 drain pumps, some water sensor, and now have issues with drum. Also replaced baffle, since for years it was ripping our laundry and I didn't see any sharp edges in the drum. Gotta keep that drain filter clean, well at least go there once in a while and clean up. Overall washer is okay, but I wouldn't recommend to a friend who is not mechanically inclined. So, basically if you looking for a washer that would keep you busy - this is the one. Also, if you like a hippy style with holes in your clothes - definitely get this model. Hope this review helps

We bought this machine in 2007 and have not had any problems with it. We did some research first and discovered if you overload the machine, it will breakdown, so we don't. We also read how important it is to dry the machine after use to avoid mildew so we wipe the inside of the rubber seal and the glass door down after each use (takes about 15 seconds) then we leave the door open a few inches. We love this machine!
