Our old Dirt Devil needed to be replaced. The upright lock was broken. I put in a new filter and vacuumed the bed room and upstairs. Then my wife agreed to go and buy this model. Our main floor has a short wool carpet and it looked not too bad. Plugged in the Hover and I immediately noticed that it was a lot quieter than the Devil. The amount of dirt that it removed was impressive. I cleaned the unit and went back upstairs to see if this unit would pick up anything more. The amount of dirt that it pulled out was very impressive. We had a oval wool rug on the Hardwood and it now looks very clean. The only thing that it seems to be missing is the upholstery tool (the square one). At this price point you would think that it would be included. We did get the crevice and the thin tool but not the wide upholstery tool. This is definitely an upgrade over the DD. My wife thinks that it is heavy, but it only weighs about the same as our miniature German Schnauzer. It rolls very nicely and is much easier to use than the DD. As our two dogs have wool, and not hair, we did not have to remove dog hair. The clear roller brush window is a real plus to see that it is working along with a switch to turn it off (finally).I have bought a few vacs over the past 40 years and this is about the best price point (it was on sale for[$]) for this type. Who wants to pay $600 for a vac? It has a lot more suction than the DD also.

We have had this vacuum (well same exact one but at the time of purchase it was just called the Wind Tunnel Cyclone â€" but even the parts are the same as this one) for 3 1/2 years now. After about two months it started loosing suction power and shutting off on its own and wouldn't turn back on. I realized that there was another filter in the vacuum up under the top of where the canister bin sits. I took that out, washed it and let it air dry, put it back and it worked great! About 1 1/2 years after we bought the vacuum, the roller stopped spinning while on the carpet. When it would try to spin, it would make a horrible, loud squeaking sound, almost a chirping. It would spin if you lifted it up but that isn't going to do any good to vacuum the dog fur off the carpet. So (even though it is advertised that you should never had to replace the belts) I ordered the 2 new belts and new filters; replaced everything and spent about $35 to do it. It helped some but now it wont spin at all if it is touching the floor. I have now taken the bottom of the vacuum apart 5 or 6 times in the 3 1/2 years I have owned it. It still has suction but isn't any good to us if we cant vacuum up the dog fur. I have cut my losses and my the [$] cost of the vacuum and bought a new one that will hopefully last longer. I cannot justify putting more money into this one when it isn't going to fix the issues anyhow. I have also been told that Hoover doesn't make the quality vacuums and products they used to, they do not last as long. I was rather disappointed with how this all turned out especially since I did like the vacuum. Better luck to me next time I guess. I had even spoke so highly of the vacuum when I got it, I talked my mother-in-law into buying them for her other 2 sons who just bought houses. I hope theirs lasts longer than mine!

Hoover Perfect for Pets
Comments about Hoover Pet Cyclonic Bagless Upright Vacuum:
Picks up pet hairs but nothing else. Possibly the most worthless piece of equipment I have had the misfortune to purchase. Must too heavy and unmanageable.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Used for three years

I have had this vac for 3+ years and have loved it! It does what it is advertised to do, and did an awesome job on my "previously thought-to-be clean" carpet. If I ever need to buy a new one, I hope they're still making this one!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Great for dog hair !!!

Have had for almost 7 yrs., it has been wonderful picking up dog hair !!!
from St. Pete Beach, FL, United States
No other vacuum has ever picked up every last piece of hair like this one. We have one Golden Retriever and two German Shepherds. This one gets all the hair up easily - easy to empty the canister, easy to push and just keeps going! Have had this one two years and just thinking it is time to do something with the brushes as some hair is stuck in there; but it still works great and picks it all up. Love it - prefer to replace parts but would have no problem paying for a new one if I had to - worth every penny!
I LOVE MY HOOVER!
from San Diego, CA, United States
Years ago I had a Hoover I bought off an old couple who couldn't push it around any more. Hoovers have always had excellent suction and this one is no exception. This Hoover has great suction but it seems to almost propel itself. I have cats. I'm amazed at how much hair and dirt it picks up. I first tried the Shark Navigator because the professional reviewers liked it best. Then I brought this one home for a side by side comparison. The Hoover won hands down! I ran the Hoover over the same area as the Shark and it picked up tons more dirt left behind by the Shark. Then I ran the Hoover over an area not swept and followed with the Shark. The Shark didn't pick up anything! I love the retractable cord, too. I don't like the clean-up from the bagless but it's the same with all the bagless vacs. Hoover, if you're listening, would you consider making a clean-out brush for the canister? Other than that, you're the tops!
HOOVER IS STILL #1

WE'VE HAD THIS HOOVER FOR QUIT A FEW YEARS AND LOVE IT. IF ANYONE HAS A PROBLEM WITH THIS HOOVER, ITS NOT THE HOOVER BUT THE USER!!!!!!!!!! STILL USING THE ORIGINAL BELTS AND FILTERS. ITS CALLED VERY LITTLE MAINTENANCE OF DUMPING AND CLEANING. I HAVE USED PLENTY OF OTHER BRANDS AND NOTHING COMPARES TO THIS HOOVER OR OTHER HOOVERS IN THE PAST.
Problems with Brush Roller
from Potomac, IL
I have had to replace the Brush Roller 4 times in 2 years and now I need another one!! I have had many Hoover's over the years and have never had a problem like this before. With all the money I have spent on parts I could have almost purchased a new vacuum. Disappointed.....
Junk. Broke after 3 years.
from Santa Rosa, CA, United States
This vacuum worked great until the hose that connects the vacuum to the floor brush came apart. This is a part that the user doesn't even touch. It is poorly designed and broke in less than 3 years. Plus the floor brush started rattling in the past couple of months too. This is despite keeping it immaculately clean (I would clean out the roller with every use, and keep the filters and canister clean often). Other than that the vacuum was great when it worked. Unfortunately it will probably cost as much to fix it as it will to buy a new one. Too bad the warranty is for only a year.
Heavy, poor suction, etc.
Need I say more. You get what you pay for. xxxxxxx

we just bought our Pet Cyclonic Bagless upright and we love it..we have 6 cats 3 of them are long hair.. and with our old vac.. it just wouldnt pick up there hair. but this Hoover Pet cyc.. hay I was surprised.. I love this not having too go over the same spot time after time to just get some of it up... two sweeps and the hair is gone... its so easy to push and clean. I do have one question how do you remove the top canister cone too get the hair out of it.. for some reason there is hair in there..??? I cant afford to alway buy the top cone filter being on Disability. what type of tool is there too remove those screws that hold the plastic container for the cone filter inside.. I tried a phillips but that did not work.. so what do I need...
