Comments about GE GDWT100RWW White Built-In Dishwasher:
Growing up, the dishwasher always had a place under our kitchen counter. And that was about it. A place. We, as kids, were not allowed to touch it. "Dishwasers waste water!" My mom always said. "Washing dishes builds character!" My dad always announced. So there it sat, unused, taunting my brother an I as we dipped our hands into the soapy bubbles of the sink - hoping to not accidentally touch a soggy piece of unidentifiable food garbage. So now that I'm out on my own, owning my very own dishwasher is quite a luxury. I've built about all the character I can slaving away over the sink as a child - I have better ways to spend my time now. First of all it looks awesome. It's shiny, flat, the buttons are hidden which is a neat feature and it is easy to clean. A quick wipe down with some stainless steel cleaner is all the takes. (much easier than hand washing dishes.) It's incredibly quiet. Almost too quiet, actually nearly to a fault. On occasion we've opened the dishwasher to put something in not even realizing that it was even running! It starts back up automatically though if you close it right away again so no harm no foul. The big question: Does it do what it was built for? Does it clean our dishes? Well yes! If you rinse off the extra crusties from the plates before loading it up (this takes mere seconds) it cleans things just fine. I don't tend to put unreasonable expectations on my dishwasher. For instance: I've just finished dumping the remainder of my homemade crock pot mac and cheese into leftover containers and I am left with this lovely crispy, crunchy, ring of burnt on cheese inside my crock. Yeah its gross - but do I expect my dishwasher to wash all that nonsense off in one cycle? Goodness no. I let it sit in the sink and soak for 10 minutes then do a quit swipe and rinse. Dishwasher etiquette my peoples. This lovely shiny piece of machinery has been a part of our family for 5 years now. Never *knocks on wood* had an issue. I'm sitting here in my kitchen, idly twirling my pony tail...gazing at the dishwasher, trying to think of any reason I would tell a fellow dishwasher consumer to not purchase this piece, and I can think of not a single reason. Is this a good dishwasher?! Well goodness people: It sure beats doing it yourself!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Quite, cleans well most of the time

After couple of years, this washer is still going strong. It cleans well most of the time, sometimes missing food on bowls in the top rack. It does better if I run the water first to get it hot. It is fairly quiet. The lower rack rusted after two years and was replaced under warranty.
Works well, fairly quiet

The washer works well and is pretty quiet. Occasionally I have to run items through again, but not very often. The 'Added Heat' option helps clean. The stainless tub keeps the heat in very well. The lower rack rusted after a year and was replaced by GE.
Pump broke after only 2 years + hard to find compatible soap
from Michigan, USA
I think the summary basically says it all. The latter issue was frustrating because we tried the recommended soap (cascade) and it still left residue. Eventually, we found Method tabs, which worked great until the unit stopped draining.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Dishwasher pretty in apperance but not good cleaning
CONS: Purchased this to eliminate hand washing dishes in the sink. However you still have to pre wash the dishes getting everything off before you load the washer. So it doesn't eliminate washing dishes in the sink, Also, cannot use anything but one type of dish washing detergent. This is a disadvantage because it doesn't get dishes clean. The tablets make rust appear in the water dropplets after a wash on the inside of the door. So stuck using one product to get dishes clean. PROS: The control panel is hidden at the top of the washer which eliminates my childrens little hands from pushing buttons which is great. Also the collapsable features of the wrack on the bottom are great. Allows for bigger dishes to go on the bottom wrack. Good price overall for the money.

This GDWT160RSS replaced another GE dishwasher that was over 25 years old and rather noisy, but otherwise worked OK. The GDWT160RSS was easy to install, looks great and is quiet in operation. But, the cleaning performance is no better than the machine it replaced. If anything, we have noticed a slight degradation in cleaning performance. Approximately 3 weeks after installation and just before Christmas, the GDWT160RSS failed to drain water. The drain airgap checked out OK, but grey water remained in the bottom of the dishwasher despite several attempts to re-run the wash cycle. Placed a service call to GE but had to wait till new year for a call out (was without dishwasher during the holiday period). The day before the service call we re-tried the dishwasher and it drained correctly. Ran another couple of cycles, all OK â€" so cancelled the service call.
