MK Sound LCR950 Satin Black Loudspeaker - LCR950BK

The all new Miller and Kreisel LCR950 loudspeaker takes full advantage of this unique legacy. Because the Miller and Kreisel LCR950 speaker takes its place in the range between the acclaimed 750 THX and the legendary 150 THX Ultra, expectations naturally run high for loudspeakers of such distinguished pedigree.

A powerful speaker of deceptively modest dimensions, the MK Sound LCR950 offers superb sound quality with a minimal footprint in any living space.

With an ambitious eye to exceeding those expectations by a significant margin, the MK Sound LCR 950 speaker draws heavily on technologies and components created for its famed professional and domestic siblings, while sporting its own distinctive styling with metal mesh grilles that impart an attractive, upscale designer feel. The cabinets feature soft radiused edges for a sculpted look that blends well with contemporary and traditional domestic environments.

Crucial to the consistency and seamless surround soundfield generated by the Miller and Kreisel 950 system; front and rear speakers employ the same innovative drivers, crossover components and technologies. While this may seem like common sense, many so called surround "systems" are in fact a hodgepodge of random odds and ends.

The new M and K LCR950 features the proprietary MK Sound Phase Focused crossovers, unlike other crossover designs that are optimized only for a narrow and shallow "sweet spot", proprietary MK Sound Phase Focused crossovers deliver razor-sharp imaging and fl at frequency response over a very wide listening area by optimizing system performance in both the vertical and horizontal planes At virtually any listening position, the audience will experience superior three-dimensional imaging and clarity for remarkable musical realism and dialog intelligibility

Comments about MK Sound Satin Black Loudspeaker:

Top notch imaging, very detailed warm rich sound and a must have if you value natural sound reproduction! These 950 speakers are incredible even in 2 channel stereo providing an enveloping sound field while still giving you precise pinpoint imaging. Having owned the 750's for nine years they can't touch the 950's sound reproduction!

Comments about MK Sound Satin Black Loudspeaker:

My first impressions on the new MK Sound 950 LCR's is a very good one! Having only 20 minutes with the 950 LCR's they are revealing and I began to understand what MK Sound meant by saying, "high frequency smearing and phase/combing anomalies". I never did ask what that meant, it can only be explained that in 2 channel stereo I can clearly here two different sets of sound images. I can hear two distinct differences in output levels and imaging meaning each ear hears something different even with one speaker being louder than the other.

The tweeter is far more open and airy, the transition from the highest to lowest note is extremely (linear) smooth! My 750's would sort of skip a note and sound bright and gritty then transition to a smooth note it could handle well, I have never thought that my 750's were bright sounding, but then I hadn't heard the 950's to know any better! The midbass is noticeably tighter with fast articulate midbass that the 750's can't touch! When the tight drum gets stuck it's hit hard and fast, I credit some of this to the hard rock solid speaker cabinets that are very dense and beautiful! I highly recommend an analog sound level pressure meter from Radio Shack to balance all of the speakers so that each speaker is 75 decibels at your listening position!

Comments about MK Sound Satin Black Loudspeaker:

I've been a professional audio engineer for years and had large studio monitors for my home speakers. I discovered an MK Subwoofer years ago and loved it, so when my whole system was stolen the studio monitors were replaced with these. I was concerned that the small size wouldn't have the bottom end I was used to, but I'm quite satisfied.
