Love my RX-V1065BL

Comments about Yamaha 7.2-Channel Black Digital Home Theater Receiver:
Was looking to upgrade from a receiver / amplifier that I already had. This one could handle inputs from my Blu-ray and my TV and put out more than enough power for my speakers. The Yamaha Parametric Acoustic Optimizer allowed easy setup for my speaker system.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The worst Yamaha receiver I've owned
By Mike the audio lover

About Me Tech Savvy
The receiver is good except the tuner and pass through of HDMI.The tuner has the worst reception of any tuner I have had, even though I have helped many friends buy Yamaha receivers! I will have to buy an Aventage soon since they have much better reviews. Still a Yamaha receiver loyalist since that's the only receiver I've ever owned
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Best Kept Secret - A Great Receiver
By Audio and AV Lover
from Watkinsville, GA
This is a marvelous receiver, provided you are planning to use it in a medium to small size room. I say this because it's only a 105w system, but in a small to medium size room, this is more than enough. Plus, good sound is part due to the quality of your speakers. But if you have good speakers and this RX-V1065, you won't be disappointed watching HDTV, Analog TV, BlueRay, or listening to your CD's. The best kept secret on this unit is the fact that you can select which audio in and video in port to out put to your HDMI cable, wonderful feature if you have a legacy device that needs this feature (i.e., and older MacBook Pro with only a DVI outport). You'll need to the firmware update to get this ability, but that's easy to do, I did it in less then three minutes. You can Bi-amp the speakers, too, if that's important to you. But doing so makes this unit a 5.1, not a 7.1. But it works great in either mode, 5.1 or 7.1. Last comment . . if you can pick this unit up for a medium to small room, get it. It's currently discontinued, so if you see it, and your needes include current HDMI abilities, and mixing audio lines to specific HDMI lines for older legacy devices, this unit is for you. You won't be disappointed. Oh, last thing, I only gave this receiver a 4 star rating because the FM receiver is a bit weak . . . but overall, this is a great receiver for the current price (which is currently about half the price of suggested list).
