A main reason that I bought the new refrigerator is for the freezer being on the bottom =- I previously had a standard top-freezer 22 ft. unit. The French doors are wonderful -- the space is a bit tight in front of the fridge and access is so much easier. The freezer drawer looks huge and is more accessible with the sliding racks. However, I was shocked when I couldn't fit everything I had in the old top freezer (which looked so small) into this big drawer. There are two reasons -- the back of the freezing compartment is curved in (covering parts of the machinery) which takes a lot of space out. Secondly, an ice maker takes up a large amount of space. I have no intention of connecting the ice maker to a water supply, so have absolutely no need for it. However, it cannot be removed and is a barrier to full use of the potential space. Now that I've reduced the amount of food (and extra bread!) that I keep in the fridge it's working out.

Purchased this fridge from a well know appliance "Specialist" in our area. Beautiful and purposeful. Noisy as a freight train some times, had the "Specialist"out twice (second time at my expense), could not find any apparent issues. I had dented the doors trying to jar it into Quiet mode (sometimes this works) to no avail. Now it is leaking water from the ice maker and filling the bottom of the freezer with ice. Now we have to empty it, de-frost it and clean the ice out when it gets to overflowing the bottom area and leaking on the floor. My assessment, it is 4 years old and I wish I had never purchased it. The last refrigerator lasted 25 years, never made a sound, never overflowed the icemaker, never an issue, still worked fine when I donated it. Poor decision on my part. It is going to be the beer fridge in the garage soon, I will most certainly not buy a Whirlpool again.

Lots of Storage! LOVE this fridge!

Comments about Whirlpool GX2FHDXVQ White Bottom Freezer Refrigerator:
We purchased this Whirlpool fridge a few months ago and it's been amazing! No more bending over every time we need a cold something. Love how big the freezer is and the sliding rack provides great additional storage. The shelving in the main fridge is fantastic, the shelves are easy to move and easy to remove and clean. Best of all it's bright because they are see through. And my favorite feature is the soda pack holder. I love cold bubbly water and this is such a thoughtful easy way to store those cumbersome 12 packs of bubbly water/ soda!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Already stopped working

I bought this refrigerator at Costco. It is noisy, has the worst tasting ice and regularly freezes items in the refrigeration portion. The freezer drawer gets stuck open and looks closed. I will never buy another Whirlpool appliance.

Cheap plastic parts to save pennies?
By Oakland Sped Teacher

Shelf supporting veggie drawers on my less-than-4-yr old frig broke, because both plastic tabs holding the shelf broke first. Metal supports might have cost a nickel more in manufacturing. Very disappointed in quality on my $1500 frig. And 5yr extended warranty doesn't cover? Whirlpool may be great for the parts people, not for consumers.

Sometime in the early eighties we purchased a Kenmore (Whirlpool) refrigerator at Thanksgiving as my current refrigerator died. Sears was able to send out the new one the next day, saving my Thanksgiving Day Turkey. A couple of months ago, given the age, and Thanksgiving Dinner approaching, we purchased our beautiful new Whirlpool refrigerator. We love it! Keeping up with the Whirlpool quality, my old refrigerator is still functioning and probably didn't need to replace it but I am glad we did. My other Whirlpool appliances are a washer and dryer. We wore the washer out but the dryer is still running like a champ. Keep up the good work on your appliances they last a long time if you care for them. Mine lasted 29+ years.
