William Henry Studio Monarch Collection Pocket Knife - B05DMTW
The Monarch is a simple design that is easy on the eye and effortless in the hand – practical, comfortable, and stunning in an array of color and texture that could only come from the William Henry Studio. The Monarch likes to dress in style, and has received multiple awards in the ‘investor/collector’ category of fine cutlery.
The elegant shape of the handle on this design is a great place to show off exotic materials, so we use it as a canvas for the natural beauty of a range of organic scales. The TBPB features black palm root, bias cut and resin-stabilized for durability. Subtle and ever changing, this hardwood has details that continue to emerge the longer you look at it. The TIW uses ironwood, one of our favorite exotics, which is as tough as its name implies. Ironwood is heavy enough to sink in water, takes a gorgeous polish, and has an inner light (or chatoyance) that ripples in the gold highlights.
The DMTW features our most exotic handle material – fossil mammoth tooth. This is natural fossil material cut from the cross-section of a molar from a wooly mammoth – 6,000 to 10,000 years old and spectacular. Very dramatic, very difficult to find, and by far the most difficult material to process and finish. We re-enforce each piece with a black fiber backing to prevent accidental breakage across the quartz-like grain of the tooth. Lastly, the MWH uses another rare fossil material – the ivory from the fossil walrus tusks. Also ranging in age from 6-10,000 years old, this material has a distinct character among fossil ivories, and is prized for its color range and stone-like polish. The fossil ivory (and all our fossil materials) are thoroughly dried and stabilized with acrylic resin to ensure their durability as knife handles.
Each Monarch includes either a titanium pocket clip or a lanyard system – the lanyard system also includes an Ostrich leather ClipCase carrying system. Every piece is engraved with two distinct numbers – a serial number on the blade and limited edition number on the leading edge of the handle. The numbers, along with the details about the knife’s construction, are listed in the included Certificate of Authenticity.
