I would have to say that on reading the negative reviews here, I was a little skeptical. Taking the advice of Consumer Reports, though, I gave this machine a shot. I'm really glad I did. ALL of the negative comments here can be avoided by reading the owner's manual. Not enough water? You aren't setting the machine right. Unbalanced load? You are stuffing WAAAY too much in here. Just read the manual, follow the directions, and you will be thrilled with this washing machine.

This machine overall has some great features - but really misses the mark by trying to be so energy efficient that it doesn't allow enough water in the tub to properly suspend clothing and agitate fluidly. Pretty much it just wets your clothes - then grinds and wads them up into a big mess - tearing out tags etc. Once this machine wadded an entire load into one giant ball of severly tangled fabric - such that it could not even spin because of the extremely unbalanced load. When I have manually filled the tub to the proper water level - once the agitation part of the wash cycle began - the machine performed beautifully - but who wants to be on standby to do this two to three times per cycle? This machine has good potential but needs some serious re-design work - especially as regards water level options. Also - if you actually turn the machine off for any reason - it automatically empties the machine - not allowing one to return to a cycle already underway. I had to return my machine.

Not a fan of the top loader.
from Schenectady, NY
Comments about Maytag Bravos Series MVWB750WQ White Top Load Washer:
. I am nearly 60 years old and have owned several washer styles over the years. This is my first large capacity top loader without an agitator. The washer I owned immediately prior to the Maytag was an Electrolux front loader and its washing performance was good but it became frequently clogged (lint, etc.). The process of cleaning the pump screen was less than simple and this experience caused me to consider other washer styles when making my last purchase. The Electrolux front loader was ultimately removed from service due to a costly repair estimate for a failed computer board. The major issue I have with the Maytag Bravo is the “balling up of sheets and blankets which makes the top loader less than desirable. I purchased this large capacity machine because it was presented as product / design able to effectively wash large items like sheets and blankets. It falls short in this area. I will more than likely purchase a Maytag again but will return to the front loading style, which from my perspective performs better.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Constantly breaking parts, but love it when it works
from Rio Rancho, NM
It's like a European car, great ideas, love it when it works, but breaks down all the time! Seems like the majority of the problems are coming from items getting out of the basket, and lodging them selves in the oddest places. I think it happens during the spin cycle, but hard to say. Bad design flaw, leaves me emptying a full washer of wet clothes, and making a repair before I can finish. Luckily, because this model has so many problems, lots of other people have already had the same problems, and information on fixing and diagnosing is all over the internet. Before this washer I believed exclusively in Maytag products, and as an installer at a plumbing company I have seen a lot of models, and worked on them as well. But after owning this model, and reading how many other people had the same problems, with the same results, I have lost faith in Maytag and their products.
Worst purchase of lifetime
from Western NY
I wish I had something good to say about this machine, but if I'm to be honest, I just can't. A machine cannot be programmed to know better than myself how much water is necessary to properly wash & rinse clothing, towels, or anything else washable. Anything being washed/rinsed should be able to move about freely in the water but this machine only adds about 4-5" of water to wash a full load of jeans. I bought this model because of it's large capacity to wash big loads of clothing & comforters but that's when it's performance is at it's worst due to the water saving features. Items have even come out with dry spots because there was not enough water to fully saturate them. I also have the same tangling/knotting issues that other reviewers have mentioned & yes I load the machine as per manufacturers instructions. No matter what type of load I'm washing, I've also had items that end up covering the whole impeller. I can only liken it to stretching a plastic cover over a bowl. My cleaning cloths/towels have turned a dingy gray since I started using this machine. I've tried prerinsing them & have also put them through 3 loads in a row with bleach but still with dismal results. After all that I could put them in the laundry sink with clean water, swish them around for a few seconds, & the water instantly turned a medium shade of gray. This was not the case prior to using this machine. For some reason I'm unable to upload my pics of the aforementioned problems. If you could see my pics I would not have to write one word, as a picture is worth a thousand words. My honest opinion of this machine is that Maytag "missed the mark" with this one & they failed to deliver on their promises of the performance of said machine.
The perfect compliment to the Bravos washer we just purchased. Fast and efficient - smooth and quiet.

I'm very pleased with this washer. I followed the other reviews & read the directions before & as I'm still learning to use it & I haven't had any problems. I can't wait to get my water bill because compared to my old washer, this one seems to use a lot less water & everything turns out much cleaner! How do they do that?!

Happy with this machine.
from Carol Stream, IL
My wife and I are quite happy with this machine in the month that we've owned it so far. It appears to perform well. This is our first machine without an agitator. The technology in the machine appears to do quite well without it. It is also easier to put it and remove bulkier items without the agitator getting in the way.It is an adjustment for us to not be able to set the water level in the machine. However, the clothes do not feel soapy after the rinse. We took another reviewer's advice and read the manual...it helped.I am not a fan of the digital beeps the machine insists on making as feedback for the settings. There is not a button to turn off these sounds.
