As a mother of three boys, I am constantly doing several loads of laundry (up to 10 loads) a week. I have owned a Maytag front loader for three years (which I bought at Abt), until it broke down and died. Compared to this LG WM2501HWA, that Maytag was a piece of junk. It vibrated the entire house (the laundry room is on the first floor, and I could hear it vibrating all the way across the house on the second floor), took forever for one load to finish, and it only lasted three years (perhaps this was a blessing)! I bought this LG WM2501HWA about a month ago, and I love it. Not only is it extremely quiet (about as loud as a quiet dishwasher, even when it's spinning at whatever thousand RPM), I can hardly feel it vibrating when it's spinning, it fits a ton of jeans in one load, and it's main load (cottons) takes only about an hour to finish. It's hard to believe that I owned that piece of junk Maytag for three years. If I'd known how WONDERFUL this washing machine is, I would have switched as soon as it came out. Now that I own this LG WM2501HWA, it's no chore at all to do laundry anymore. So far, I love it, and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to buy a new front-loading machine.

I like the LG WM2501HWA front load washer. It saves water. I do not like the filter and drain at the bottom. When installers set up my washer the gentleman explained to me that I only needed to drain the washer if I wasn't going to use it for 7 days so the prime water didn't sour. He instructed me to check the filter after every wash load. Well 1st for anyone w/ a back problem the bending over can be agony, 2nd water leaks out when the filter is unscrewed whether the washer is drained beforehand or not. It puts water all over the floor which is just not cool. Had I known this I would not have purchased it, as I don't want a backache nor do I like the water on the floor even after draining the pump. Needless to say I don't check the filter after every load as recommended.

Have had 3 years and still love it!

Comments about LG 4.2 Cu. Ft. Graphite Steel Front Load SteamWasher:
We've had this washer for over 3 years now and I still love it. I don't use all the extra features really, mostly the basics. It cleans well, uses less water and I got the drawer pedestals so my dirty laundry goes in there. It's quiet enough to not bother us at the dinner table or watching TV. It's' less than 90 feet away. I highly recommend it. This is my first LG purchase and I'm now a fan. Also got the dryer and love it too.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Didn't last 4 years. Never overloaded it yet the bearings and the basket and now the front circuit board.

The washer is energy efficient, saves water, is gentle on your clothes, and get your clothes as clean as possible. The steam is great for cleaning and can also be used to freshen up wrinkled clothes in just a few minutes, so you always look great. It is very quiet when it runs, which is a major plus. All said it is an awesome washer!
This machine has drainage and mold issues

We have been trying to fix this for years. Purchasing machine cleaners and opening the drain every time we use the machine. I am currently trying to contact LG to find out if they have a fix for this problem. The machine and our clothes smell.
Will start leaking in 3 years
This machine stinks. Will start leaking in 3 years and hard to find someone to work on them. Parts are hard to get and repairs are expensive. Stay away from this machine.
Don't buy this washer

At first, this washer seemed great, lot's of fancy features but it wasn't long that the smell started and no matter what I do, it doesn't go away. I have babied this machine beyond what is reasonable and acceptable especially for how much this cost. I run the tub clean cycle with affresh or baking soda and bleach. I leave the door open always - very inconvenient in my laundry room that doubles as a hallway to the garage. I drain the water at the bottom after EVERY use. I only use a small amount of he detergent. I wash most of my clothes in hot water. I use extra water and extra rinses on towels. I never use fabric softener. All this and all I have to show for it is stinky clothes and a seriously bad attitude toward front loaders. I miss my top-loader!!!! No amount of energy savings is worth this headache.
AWESOME front loader

LG Washing Machinw
This is a great washer. I love the size and the fact that I am saving tons of water. My water water bill has gone down drastically after buying this washer. The features such as steam and all the different wash cycles mke it so versatile. It even plays a little tune when the wash is done.

Quiet - For a washer this size, yes. You can't tell if it's vibrating either. Minimal maintenance - Just need to clean the inside of the door and water filter every month or so. But it's not a big deal if you don't do it for every month. Steam cleaning - Takes a bit longer to wash in this mode but it cleans without doing the damage. Sanitary mode - Extremely hot water washing mode that kills 99.9% of germs Energy efficient - I'm not sure how it can clean so well but it does; when the clothes just barely look wet. Sadly this model is now discontinued according to LG.com website
We've enjoyed our washer and dryer over the last year and have had no problems. Just make sure the leave the door open after washing a load to ensure it doesn't start to smell.
