Didn't like the fact that filter needs regular cleaning and monitoring to avoid problems. Thankfully, it's easily handled. But it's an added task that wasn't there with the top loaders.Would be great to receive a sample size of detergent with new washer, since HP detergent is a necessity. Need easier to follow instructions for using the variable settings. (First wash didn't seem to get clean enough using the default setting. It took three washloads before I finally achieved the proper balance of temperature and spin settings.) Overall, the front loader does a much better job than any of our previous top loaders. And this LG model is a super achiever in its price range.

I usually do not write reviews, but thought I should on this one to warn others. Initially, this looked like a great washer with lots of features for the price. Attractively built, and decent warranty. This is the problem: All the cycles except the "quick wash" are painfully too long......with the purpose being to save water at all costs. This is unecessay to meet today's green standard. However, the biggest problem is water and suds spilling out all over the floor from the detergent drawer during the spin cycle. There is no obstruction in the drawer and the proper detergent and amount is being used. Upon calling the service department, I am told that every 20 or so days I am supposed to drain the water from a door on the bottom of the unit because the unit wasn't equipped to handle the excess water that collects on the lip of the front glass in the door. It doesn't say this in the manual, but the lady says that it should be assumed by the customer and they have no recall for the unit. If you forget to drain the unit, then you get the surprise of a flooded laundry room. We already have too much to keep up with, as would most people. So, what you get is a faulty new washer that was not properly engineered in the first place. Unacceptable and inexcusable in this day and age.

Not a good buy
from Alabama, USA
We bought ours a few years ago thinking maybe they had finally gotten the front loading thing right and who doesn't want to save water, right? Wrong. When you have to wash your clothes at least twice and use extra water, it does not save anything. I have clothing that has been lost due to the odor put into it by the washer. Our clothing does not come clean. Whites are a joke - it does not matter what detergent or additives or pre-treaters are used. Currently my husband does not own a white tee shirt. They are all brown. They were white when I bought them. He is not too hard on them. It is the washer. I am trading for a top loader with a soak cycle so that at least I am a little in charge of my laundry. Yes, you need to leave the door open all the time, but if you do laundry daily, this won't help because the machine never dries out. It smells awful. This was truly a purchase I regret. Sorry LG.

Motor. It died.
from Pennsylvania, USA
My wife and I were lucky to buy this machine used at a really low price. It was in good shape and hardly used. We had it a year and then the motor went out. I was thoroughly impressed with this cool washer, except that the motor broke. My appliance guy, who is certified with LG was surpised about the motor when he came to check it out. Maybe we just had bad luck. Machines break but I would still buy another LG. A KEY is to have a good water softener too.
this product leaks
from Prosper, TX, USA
We have had this washer for 3 years and it has leaked from the back of the unit 6 months in. We have had it serviced 2x and they cannot find out why it is leaking or where the leak is coming from. They have dislodged a sock that was sucked in the drum during a spin cycle thinking this was the cause, but no such luck. 2 loads later the unit started leaking again. We have water damage in the adjoining room because of the random water leaks.
Nothing good to say

What a waste. Takes forever to do a load of clothes. Leaves white soap stains on my shirts (only washing 4 or 5 at a time). Uses hardly any water so it is impossible for the clothes to be really clean. Gotta keep the door open to keep it from smelling. All in all I wish I bought a cheap top load washer. Sure it saves water but it uses twice as much electricity. What's the point? DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY NO MATTER HOW CHEAP YOU CAN BUY ONE OF THESE!
Washer gunk on your clothes
By angry washman
from New Jersey
At least 1 other reviewer has had the same experience. I've owned the machine over two years and have consistently had a problem with brown gunk buildup behind the drum and a horrible smell. I have to leave the door open whenever it's not in use. Every few weeks the gunk gets flushed out from behind the drum and stains our clothes. These stains don't come out easily. I use Affresh regularly and still have the smell and gunk problem. Every three months I have to remove the lifter assembly (3 of them) from inside the drum and soak them in bleach to clean out the gunk. I use no softener and very little detergent with each wash. I really regret buying this machine!
Too limited - loss of features
from DFW TX
Some of the very basics of a mother washing the kids clothes are gone. I can't soak clothes to get out stains. I can't do a quick rinse or spin. There is a rinse/spin cycle for 21 minutes but when I am wanting to rinse the kids uniform at 10p at night i can't quickly do so. I long for a spin only cycle!!!!! I'm not old fashion, just want some of the basics that should come with new technology. Didn't you have any mother's test your product???

This machine is terrible dont waste your money so not worth it. It wont last you and doesnt clean clothes well. you wont have it for more than 5 years with out it breaking. I will never buy LG again I am very dissapointed,
Dont waste your money!
Worst washing machine I've ever owned. Constantly having to clean gunk out of the rubber seal. Clothes come out of the washer smelly every time. When using the large cycle your clothes will be too wet to put straight into the dryer therefore I've had to run my clothes through the normal cycle to get the excess water out. Therefore this process defeats the purpose of using less water because I'm having to run my clothes through two loads. I've owned this washer for two years.
Large capacity and efficient but odor and gunk
from Washington, IL
I've had my washer about 2 years. Although I open the trap door to drain the water and clean the filter about every 2 weeks and wipe out the rubber liner regularly, I continue to periodically end up with clothes dirtier after the wash than when they went in. There is brown gunk throughout the inside of the drum. I cannot find the source and it is only intermittent so I don't think it is a blocked hose. The good news is that it washes off easily but it does require washing the load a second time defeating the purpose of this washer. I would not recommend this washer.
