This is a great washer. If I had to find a con it would be the noise. But after having front loaders for many years I know they are all noisy. It spins the best of any washer I have ever had. I replaced my 2 yr old Bosch with this Whirlpool because of spin issues. I highly recommend this washer.

We've had this washer and matching steam dryer for 10 months now, and so far we have loved them. It is amazing how dry the clothes come out of the washer. I have however noticed that the spin cycle has gotten progressively louder over the last 10 months.

Well, we loved them until this past weekend. Started hearing a "thump" sound from the washer, and noticed it wasn't spinning as fast. When it was done the clothes were still soaked. Yup, something is wrong. Took a day off work for the repairman to come look at it. He turned it on, saw what it was doing, turned it off. Yup, something is broke. Have to order parts, be back in two weeks, another day off work. How are we gonna clean our clothes? Not his problem, and oh, "You guys need to have the dryer down off the top when I come back". Awesome! So to recap, very expensive washer broken after 10 months, no way to wash clothes for almost 3 weeks, and we're responsible for lifting the dryer off the top of the washer, and disconnecting it. Not real happy, but maybe you'll have better luck with the one you buy. Whatever you do, get the extended warranty. You'll need it.

Purchased a new Whirlpool Duet in November 2010. After about 18 months the spinning noise started to grow louder. At 20 months, the tub liner started to break apart from the uneven spinning. At 22 months, the bearings have failed and the machine will cost more to repair than it is worth. If you plan to purchase a front loading washer, a warranty beyond 1 year is recommended.

I got this washer to replace one that simply did not clean my clothes. What an amazing change: the Whirlpool Duet cleans so well everything STAYS clean longer. I'm very pleased with it.
The settings are very helpful, too. I love having easy choices to determine which kind of wash cycle I want.

The deliverymen were fabulous. I didn't realize that this washer has a curved front, which made it stick out farther than my laundry closet would allow. The delivery guys gave me options (included exchange) and we eventually decided to remove a baseboard to gain the extra inch+ we needed to fit the washer in its space. They did a great job, and were very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the process.

Really like the extra load capacity - wish the normal wash time wasn't quite so long. Uses very little water but does a good job cleaning clothes.

I absolutely love this washer! There are a lot of features so you'll really need to read through the manual. If you typically wash clothes with the same setting, this washer may not be for you. But, I have been able to wash everything from pillows & comforters on delicate or bulky setting to heavily stained (grass, pen, dirt) clothes on the steam cycle. I have also used the FanFresh option for loads I do before bed... That option is great because it will periodically tumble clothes for up to 10 hrs. so they are fresh the next morning. The only con I have is that it can be a bit noisy but other than that I LOVE it! [...]

We have a family of 5 including 3 boys (one is a teenager) and there isn't a day in the week that our washer/dryer are not running (including holidays). Have been using this unit a few days short of a month and couldn't be happier. Our laundry room is on the first floor over a basement, so we were really worried about vibration. This washer can clean a load of 16 pairs of jeans with no problem whatsoever and, best yet, without dancing all over the floor and making the walls shake. The equally-sized top-loader (not a Whirlpool) that this replaced could not wash the same without registering an unbalanced load. This one, no problem! Ditto for the floor rugs we recently washed. We saw a YouTube video where someone was able to balance a pen on end on top of the machine during the spin cycle -- we tried it and were able to do the same! Pretty cool! We put a days worth of washcloths, hand towels, and bath towels in a single load without issue. Our old machine left them stinky so I would have to wash a second time -- this machine gets 'em done right the first time with no stink! One feature that should help is the Fan Fresh setting. If you remember to use the setting, Fan Fresh will somehow pull air into the washer so that if something is left in it overnight or for a long time (say you forget about the load you just washed) it will have less of a chance of getting musty. We run the 'clean washer cycle' every month, so are hopeful that with this combination of features this unit will not have a 'stink' issue like the last one. We make regular use of the 'santize' setting. LOVE IT. Gets stains out and makes things so clean you will NOT believe it. Tomato sauce, marker, ball point pen, chocolate, mystery muck... it truly is amazing. Only drawback is that the sanitize cycle takes 2 hours to complete. Some of the other cycles are longer than my last washer (again, equal capacity) but considering that this unit cleans things right the first time (and in loads that use its full capacity), I am spending far less time doing the wash than I ever have.

When raising 3 boys, one cannot be without fully functionig machines that can handle enormous loads on a daily basis. Our previous dryer (only 3 years old and not a Whirlpool) quit on the snowiest, wettest weekend day of winter. We didn't have time to shop, nor did we want to drag our brood out on a snowy Chicago day. We called Abt right away because a) we have purchased many high ticket items from them in the past and greatly appreciate the way they treat their customers b) we know that they will not sell products that have notorious service issues and c) because Abt *always* stands by what they do sell in the unlikely event there is a problem. We ordered the Duet steam washer and dryer sight-unseen per the recommendation of our Abt rep, George, and couldn't be happier. And, we will have everyone know, he did *not* try to sell us on the most expensive units Abt carries. George truly listed to how we use our machines. After doing our own research online, we arrived at the same purchasing conclusion, called him back, ordered the units and never looked back. George was even able to arrange delivery three days later. We were thrilled. Hats off to the delivery crew as well. Everything arrived on time, as promised. The crew was polite, friendly, neat and efficient. We can't say enough good things about Abt.

The only problem I had was that the washer shakes and makes a lot of noise while on the high speed spin cycle. We purchased anti-vibration pads to put under the feet on the washer and that helped a lot. Otherwise, I love it. It cleans very well with a small amount of he detergent. There are many setting choices to accomodate anything I want to wash. It is great for bulky loads like blankets and comforters. I love the large capacity.

This is very economical, as it uses less water and dries everything better and makes it better for drying quicker. Everything cleans very nicely.
