We have a family of 5 including 3 boys (one is a teenager) and there isn't a day in the week that our washer/dryer are not running (including holidays). Have been using this unit a few days short of a month and couldn't be happier. Our laundry room is on the first floor over a basement, so we were really worried about vibration. This washer can clean a load of 16 pairs of jeans with no problem whatsoever and, best yet, without dancing all over the floor and making the walls shake. The equally-sized top-loader (not a Whirlpool) that this replaced could not wash the same without registering an unbalanced load. This one, no problem! Ditto for the floor rugs we recently washed. We saw a YouTube video where someone was able to balance a pen on end on top of the machine during the spin cycle -- we tried it and were able to do the same! Pretty cool! We put a days worth of washcloths, hand towels, and bath towels in a single load without issue. Our old machine left them stinky so I would have to wash a second time -- this machine gets 'em done right the first time with no stink! One feature that should help is the Fan Fresh setting. If you remember to use the setting, Fan Fresh will somehow pull air into the washer so that if something is left in it overnight or for a long time (say you forget about the load you just washed) it will have less of a chance of getting musty. We run the 'clean washer cycle' every month, so are hopeful that with this combination of features this unit will not have a 'stink' issue like the last one. We make regular use of the 'santize' setting. LOVE IT. Gets stains out and makes things so clean you will NOT believe it. Tomato sauce, marker, ball point pen, chocolate, mystery muck... it truly is amazing. Only drawback is that the sanitize cycle takes 2 hours to complete. Some of the other cycles are longer than my last washer (again, equal capacity) but considering that this unit cleans things right the first time (and in loads that use its full capacity), I am spending far less time doing the wash than I ever have.

This washer has nice features, but its durability is terrible. After only a few months the circuit board failed. The machine completely shut down to the point where we could not even remove the clothes that were in the tub. Then, after about 14 months (2 months after the factory warranty expired), the washer spin cycle became extremely loud. The A&E technician said that the washer had been damaged because, in his words, it is only supposed to be run with a full load. As far as I can tell, the manual says nothing about this. I also noticed that reviewers for the 9550 model are saying similar things about the tub needing to be replaced after about a year, so I think the problem is with the product, not the user. The technician then quoted us a price of $1500 in parts and labor to repair the problem, which is more than the cost of the washer itself. Needless to say, we will be buying another brand of washer in the near future.

2nd one, both worked great for just 4 years

Comments about Whirlpool Duet WFW9750WR Cranberry Red Front Load Steam Washer:
I have purchased two of this exact washing machine (Whirlpool duet 3.9 ft. steam front load washer with fan fresh). In both machines, the ball bearings went out when they were each four years old. The cost to repair it is approximately $1800. It's cheaper to buy new one. Infuriating that whirlpool has not fixed this known flaw. The service people both said that this is a common problem with front loading washing machine's. I'm switching back to the old-school style. It's too expensive otherwise. These machines should last more than four years.

had many repair problems

The engineering for front load washer should advance. the diagnosis codes features will tell what broke. why is that the only reliable feature? Bearing seal, motor, belt, computer controls, seals, and plastic parts cost so much to repair it does matter what broke replace it.. Knowing why you getting a replacement is really a dumb feature!
Loud spin cycle
from Albuquerque, NM
I purchased my duet steam washer in 2012. As I've read in other reviews, my washer is so loud during the spin cycle that we have to close the sliding door leading to laundry room and is still very loud. I asked my local repairman, while he was there repairing my duet steam dryer. . .why it was so loud and he said the bearing was out and that Whirlpool has had problems with this particular model. To get the bearing replaced would cost more than a new washer. I called customer service about this and they said they could pay half toward a new washer. I still believe that is unacceptable for a product less than 5 years old.
didn't last long

I'm VERY disappointed in this washer. We have had it for about 5 years and we are not hard on it as we only do about 7-8 loads of laundry a week. It was good while it lasted, but the spin cycle started getting louder and louder and then in addition to that, it started sounding like something was scraping against the tub as the the spin cycle was running. The repairman said it would need new parts (that would cost about $700-800) but to try calling Whirlpool customer service to see if it was under warranty first. It wasn't because it was older than 1 year. Purchasing the extended warranty is just asking me to give more money to Whirlpool. I knew it would need repairs, etc., but I didn't expect that to come after just 5 years. Thanks for nothing, Whirlpool.

We bought this washer 4 years ago, it worked great for the first year. We have a household of (2) so this washer does not get heavy use. One month after the warranty expired it started sounding like a freight train during the spin cycle. We called Whirlpool and they said it's not a problem they are aware of and the machine is out of warranty - call a service tech! The service tech knew right away that the drum bearing was failing and that it was a common problem with this machine - seems that Whirlpool is the only one who doesn't know this. I have since looked at many customer reviews with identical issues on this machine, I would say that there is a pattern of premature bearing failure. This is a premium priced machine that should last for 15 years at our usage level - it didn't make it 5 years and 4 of those were with unbearable loud noise. Definitely don't buy one of these machines.
After 5 years it is spinning like a jet
It lasted for 5 years...I was hoping to get more life out of it...sigh.The steam function was never used, what a waste of money. It is giving out at 5 years mark with loud jet-like noise whenever doing high-spins.
Simply the best washer!

You want the most for your money & your time? Then this is the washer you want!! It's quiet, simple, fast & extremely effecient. I'm a compulsive cleaner especially with my husband on the farm. Having laundry done & not having to waste time then this is the way to go. I also purchased the matching dryer & I couldn't be any happier!! This has allowed me to live our busy life & still have that quality time with my family which is extremely important. Cost effective as well. Meets & has exceeded my expectations. You won't be disappointed!

Good while it lasted
from Battle Creek, MI
I have had this machine about 2.5 years. It was a really good washer for about 2 years. But then it started to get louder. At first it was just kind of annoying but whatever. IT has gotten to the point where I cannot have a conversation anywhere in the house while it does a spin cycle. With it being so bad I called whirlpool. They said it is out of their 1 year, so they basically don't care and to call an authorized repair place that will charge $100 just to come look at it. When did companies stop standing by their product? or at least stand behind it without charging someone an extra $200 for some bogus extended warranty. Very disappointed!!!
Love my Washer
from Garland, TX, United States
I do love my washer. Love the high spin cycle, fan cycle well just about everything.the only Negative is that when it spin the machine really wobbles & shakes, a lot. The machine is level so i don't know why, however I just but left over form inserts (that I knew one day I would need) between the washer and the wall and the washer and the dryer, & dryer and wall. So now it does great. If not for the wobble and shake I would give this 4 stars. So far so good. ??Only had machine for 5 months, if this washer lasts 15+ years like my kenmore did than I will be VERY happy. ??Fingers crossed. We just purchased the Dryer match to the washer, replacing our Kenmore Dryer after 22 years.
My clothes look fabulous.

This machine washes everything soooo beautifully. I can't wait for laundry day. White clothes are so white. Everything is treated so gently and comes out of the wash so soft. It is also so easy to use. It seems to do all the thinking for me.
