Comments about Electrolux EI23BC56IS Stainless Steel Bottom Freezer Counter Depth Refrigerator:
Very poorly designed icemaker. Ice keeps getting stuck, ice melting together, water leaking in tray. Now it doesn't make any ice. Several service calls to fix problem, still not getting ice. Also, there are two large holes inside cabinet of refrigerator that supposedly was caused by light fixture. Wires exposed inside of cabinet. Company said they will epoxy it. This is a [$] refrigerator. My advise, don't buy this!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Look Before You Leap!!
Looks great, drawers slide in and out with ease, inside space VERY usable. Now let's talk about the icemaker, it has to be the worst on the market, it freezes up constantly, it has been serviced twice, repaired four times for a total of six service calls and is not a year old yet!! Never again.
Product literature is deceiving
The design of the refrigerator is good, however the website clearly states that the lighting is LED under product features, but the specification says it is incandescent. It came as incandescent and lighting was a factor in purchasing this unit. Disappointed.

Thought I was buying a high end unit when replacing a 20yr old Amana fridge that kept ruining food. At [$] set-up and water line costs, I felt a little uneasy about spending 3k for a fridge. Did months of research on brand reliability through Consumer Reports as well as blogs and complaint boards online. Unit was delivered in June of 2010 and I had my first problem within 2 months of ownership. The ice maker was busted and required new parts. This was a known production problem from the manufacturer and they sent out a replacement "kit" to fix the problem. Then a couple months later the water dispenser started to break at random intervals (Up to 2 weeks at a time). Was told that this was also a manufacturer defect and they sent out another "kit" to fix the front dispenser panel circuit board. After continuing failures with the water dispenser I had one more service call to take a look and they could not find anything wrong with the unit. Repair man told me that Electrolux is known for making nice vacuums, how's that for a statement! Electrolux bought a company within the past couple years that manufactured the fridge and they slap their name on the front. Time to move on from Electrolux. Four service calls in 7 months is a terrible track record for a fridge and an indicator of things to come. I was told by the 20 year repairman veteran that after sitting through a repair seminar on Electrolux that the front circuit board would probably break again right after 4yr warranty runs out (at a cost of $500) and to stick to two brands for appliances: Subzero for fridge and Wolf for stove/range. Take that for what its worth. I figured that I would try and get a similar looking unit but without the front panel access for water and ice, leaving me with less moving parts to break down. Checked out the Jenn-Air and Viking model at same price point and they were both poorly made for a $3k fridge after hands on inspection. Not to mention smaller cubic footage of 19.6 versus 23. Well, bottom line is that I have no intention of doubling down my sunk cost to $7k for a new fridge and decided to try out the Bosch (only one ABT sells). Will be delivered this Saturday. Hopefully selecting a long time maker of fridge's will get me the longevity I was looking for, along with a $1000 savings. Guess that will go toward a 65in plasma. This one is mind blowing...Learned that through company mergers, Whirlpool now owns all of the following brands: Amana, Estate, Gladiator, Jenn-Air, KitchenAid, Maytag, Roper and Viking. Not to mention that there are some sub brands that fall under each of these "makers".Tell me that they are not all using the same parts from China and won't have similar reliability. As an aside after all of my research their were a couple brands that stood out with a big RISK factor for repair and failure. LG, Samsung, GE

Electrolux French Door Refrigerator
Love everything about the refrigerator, looks, functionality and all features. My only complaint is the ice doesn't dispense properly through the ice dispenser. It may kick out one cube, grind for a while and then kick out another cube. I currently have a call in for service.
We are so happy with our Counter Depth French Door refrigerator. The room in the refrigerator and freezer is amazing. We thought we wouldn't have as much room with the ice maker being in the refrigerator part but with the design of the shelves and drawers it is surprising what and how much you can pack into this awesome appliance. Only complaint is that the ice maker can sometimes be tempermental but have figured out that when people are in a hurry to get ice and then water they sometimes don't let the little door close and a cube gets hung up. I would definitely recommend this refrigerator, happy with the counter depth since it was in an area where we have an island and needed the extra room. When we went on an extended vacation the vacation mode held everything just fine; came home and there were no surprises. So happy with Electrolux.
The only problem is you have to make sure of your space with this unit for the door swing. The ice maker never unit never seems to be full.
