I am not a great cook and I try not to spend a lot of time in the kitchen, but when the family demands dinner, I make an effort. The cook range is perfect for my not-so talented cooking performance. It has five burners with a variety of cooking temps, 1 large high temp burner, 2 medium range burners and 2 smaller simmer burners. I haven't burn one item since cooking on this range. The 2 grates that cover the entire top of the stove make wiping up spills so easy, there is no nooks and crannies to lose debree into. You do have to wait until the cooking surface has cooled, which is about the time that everyone is done eating, to wipe the stove top.The only draw back is the kitchen timer. You have to hit the kitchen timer button to stop the alarm, I still haven't figured out how to cancel the timer mid-time. If you are baking and hit the cancel button (which makes sense) to cancel the timer alarm, the oven turns off.Did I mention how pretty it is in stainless steel?

Within the first year, the clock would intermittently reset and had to be manually set to the right time. Still under warranty, had the electronic control panel replaced. Worked for a while but after the warranty, it started to reset again and one time the unit started flashing a strange code not reacting to any commands entered until I unplugged it for a few minutes. Decided to live with it because to replace it would cost over $200 plus the labor though it is annoying. The other big problem is that during the cleaning cycle, a colored liquid comes through the vent that stains the oven around the vents and the only way that I've found to remove it is using a pumice stone (and I can't get to a lot of the stain because it is too deep under the vent). During the last cleaning, the liquid also got down into the double glass and I haven't figured out how to clean that yet. Since I end up having to clean harder after the automatic cleaning, I'll not be using the automatic cleaning any more and what's the point of having that feature if you can't use it.

High BTU Burners
By Shirl the Cook
from New Mexico
We have had our 30" self-cleaning Maytag range for several months now and I am very pleased with the high powered BTU burners. We replaced a Tappan range that was 20 years old. Wow! What a difference in BTU output with the new range. Cooking is so much faster. We purchased the white range because my past experience with a stainless steel range with a black cooktop was less then ideal. The black cook surface was VERY difficult to clean. No matter what you used on the black surface it always looked smeared and greasy! The oven is huge. I haven't had to use the self-cleaning feature yet. It appears to operate differently then self-cleaning ovens I have owned in the past. I will have to reserve comment on that feature until a later time.

Tired of reattaching the oven door handle
from Grants Pass, OR
The door handle has come loose and fallen off 3 times in the last year (post warranty), I've owned it for 2 years and bought it new. When the handle gets loose there is no longer a seal and the glass oven door gets very hot (dangerous for my toddler). The plastic part inside the door that attaches the handle is actually turning brown from the heat due to the loss of the seal. The knobs on the back are so close to the pan lids that they got hot and messy. The metal facade surrounding the glass is thin and dents easily.

We love our Maytag range, we've had it since we built our home 7 years ago and with 4 little ones we use it every day and haven't had ANY issues to date.
Works fine but...

The plastic covering the control buttons doesn't hold up to fingernails and punches through. The oven door handle looks strong but is flimsy plastic and breaks easily The pan tray on the bottom doesn't slide easily and feels cheap. The oven runs a bit hotter than most, so we have to take that into consideration when cooking. I really like the extra low and extra high burners.

i got this 2-3 months ago and love it. glad my husband picked it out for me.
didn't hold up
I have had this stove for several years now. I have had to replace an element the porcelain chips easily and the control pannel has cracked at most of the settings (and cost near as much as a new stove to have replaced.

I have had many types and brands of ranges but Maytag is hands down the best quality and by far the easiest to clean from the grates to the fit and finish I love my Maytag!
Ease of use. Cleaning function superb. A cook's dream machin

The best oven we have ever owned. Cooking became a joy again with this oven and five burner top. Cleans easy with the sealed top around burners.
