This is a really good, solid system. It can perform a range of duties from the everyday family that cleans consistently, or a weekend college kid who crams as many clothes as he or she can fit for the days or weeks ahead. Its rare, in my opinion, to find a reasonably priced piece of equipment that can handle the wide spectrum of duties that this unit can! To be honest, I am pleasantly surprised. I have had this unit now for 15 months. It has been involved in a move (setup, takedown, move, then setup again). It has been stacked as well as current configuration, side by side, with its amazing dryer partner. So, here is what I've observed. I believe the unit performs better with "The More the Merrier" approach. The tighter one gets the clothes packed in, the more efficient it becomes, both with water and additives (detergent, oxi, and softener). The unit tends to be slightly more aggressive (action) than an auger based system, which to an extent, makes sense because its own action makes the clothes do their rolly polly cleaning thing. rather than a central mechanism to spin around. From time to time I've had my clothes wound together after a cycle is complete. The clothes weren't damaged and it wasn't difficult to unwind them and it probably wouldn't have happened had I put more clothes in before starting the cycle. Therefore, I blame myself and not the unit when it happens. Nonetheless, the wound clothes still were very clean, so the washer was still able to get the job done! Occasionally, I hear the unit hopping (slightly off balance) but it doesn't happen enough for me to realign the feet (which is quite easy for anyone to do by themselves!). The noise is what everyone tends to focus their love or hate when it comes to front loading washers, to me, having this unit in the room next to where I sleep doesn't bother me with anything I do, including sleeping as it runs. Just a slight whrrrr noise that can easily be drowned out by a fan on low. The features are everything I could ever want in a washer. I use the steam cycles about 40% of the time. It wasn't my main reason for buying this unit but I find myself using it more than I would have ever imagined. For instance, my father had a tee-shirt he was wearing a few weeks ago. He complained it had a slight musty smell from being wet so he tried washing it multiple times with a fairly new (other branded) machine. As he was about to throw the shirt away after his failed attempts. I asked if I could bring it home and see what I could do. One cycle, BOOM... GONE... No smell. Perfect shirt. Just from this one circumstance, proves what kind of product this is and what it can do. Capacity is the only thing that I'd tend to have a gripe about. 4.3 cubic feet is able to handle just about every situation, when I encounter the occasional mount of clothes I do wish I could make the rest fit. It would be nice to have a bit more space to fit a quilt with some clothes perhaps but then again with the way it works and how quickly it cleans, its not that big of a deal. Cycles take from 23 minutes to 2 hours depending on what one's needs are. I usually have a 33 to 40 minute cycle on the wash. I'd say if your family was bigger than four people, I'd recommend a slightly bigger unit. Other than that, It looks great, its overly fancy and doesn't need to be polished and cleaned all the time. Just remember to keep the door ajar after washing so mold doesn't creep into the seals, which for me has never happened and I've never needed to clean it yet! It is VERY efficient and I've never looked back! Hope this helps! You can't go wrong with this unit no matter who you are and how messy your life is!

Washer was very quiet for three months before tub bearing failed. Despite using low spin speeds, the unit just became louder and louder. Tub with bearing assembly was replaced under warranty. Although I have had good luck with other Maytag/Whirlpool products, I do not have confidence that this repair will be a long term fix unless the bearing and seal is better engineered.

Maytag Washer - great machine
from Pembroke Pines FL
I've had a number of different washing machines over the years and this is the best so far. Quiet, efficient and what I'd expect from a Maytag product.
I'm 100% pleased
from Tulsa, OK
I had my last Maytag for ten years and never had a problem. My new front loader has proved to be just as reliable. I'm a happy, happy customer.
This product could use some improvements..
from Guelph, ONT
I have realized I do not like the front loading design, it's not effective and especially socks get trapped in the machine. The sound during regular cycles is way too loud and aggressive. A change in the delicate cycle, to make it more delicate, would be best.
Great machine - holds a lot of laundry
from Eastern Iowa
We love our washing machine. I get lots of clothes washed at once thanks to the large load capacity. I also love all the options for types of clothes being washed. We have had the machine for over 6 months and have had no problems at all. The only issue I could think of is that it can be somewhat load, particularly on the spin cycle.
reliable washer with excellent features
from sparks, nv
This washer has many features that allow me to do washes more efficiently. Wash time, and performance are very good. Goood value for the price
I love my twins!
Had my twins for about one year. I love the whites and steam cycles and the dryer. High tech controls. The only problem I've had was once the system locked up because I changed the cycle after the load started. Simply unplugged/replugged the power cord to recycle the settings, worked perfectly since then. Very nice laundry pair, especially like the storage bins below the washer & dryer.
Quiet, Reliable, Huge Capacity
from Cincinnati, OH
We love our Maytag Performance Series Front Loader Washer and Dryer! The capacity is huge so I don't have to do laundry quite as often as in the past. The steam clean cycle is fantastic for bed sheets and towels. Makes me feel like everything is extra clean and sanitized. The super quiet operation is a plus since our laundry room is located right off of the family room. I can do laundry at any time of the day without disturbing anyone. Reliable, easy to use, gets clothes super clean.
Our first front loads
from Virginia Beach, VA
I am retired, and this is my first front load, raised kids and went through life with a top load. Can't express how pleased we are with this unit. The technology is so far superior, it works really well doing what it is supposed to do (clean clothes) and it is easy to use. I used another brand at our kids' and it was not friendly at all. Stingy on water, same with soap. The dispenser is really nice. If I had it to do over, probably would not have gotten the pedestals, though. Sort of a waste of space...but they look cool. From a 68 year old Husband/Father/Grandpa.
This washer/dryer combo has many great tools.
I am happy with purchase of w/d combo Maytag. It has great size and dryer is so handy too. My city bill has been about $13 dollars/month less since adding these appliances. I am happy.
