My boss wants me to take 20 photos of our outdoor product every week and they must include random passersby... and I was doing fairly well with my old coolpix with the 3x zoom, but then this 7x zoom caught my eye... ...and now, using this speedy little camera, taking photos at a higher (5M) resolution, and then running them through my computer, I can crop my photos to the PC size that my boss is expecting, and effectively if needed, have a 17x zoom. The candidness of the passersby is now almost total, and my previous 'snapshots' have turned into 'magazine shots'... (not all, but many). I still, just hold the button down, and take up to ten shots of each scene, later choosing the very best one on my computer screen... This little camera is a real 'tool' - and is so easy, and so quick to operate... a real improvement over their three year old product.

I was very excited to start using my new Nikon COOLPIXS6000 and initially the photos were great and it was easy to use. I've been shooting pictures every day for a month and now I'm having trouble getting the camera to focus. I've read the manual and tried several settings, tried to change settings and reset them. I've taken tons of sample pictures and still the same problem ... it won't focus. When I turn the camera on it focuses on the first shot. As soon as I touch the photo button it goes out of focus. As soon as I take the first photo then everything else after that is blurry. ?? HELP

This camera is great for travel and takes fantastic photos. I am always impressed with the quality of the photos. The small size makes it a must-have for trips.

I received this camera as a gift a few years ago. I hate the delay time from when you hit the button to snap a picture and when it finally snaps and some days the camera would just start snapping away on its own. In the last year it has been more and more difficult to use. For example: reviewing pictures took multiple clicks for the picture to come up and view, reaction time for all functions slowed eventually and the retractable covers over the lens broke off except for one piece which got stuck every time you turn it on. I had to push it down and get the lens dirty every time I took a picture. Today it just froze on and that is it....dead! I am disgusted and have been since the beginning with this cheap camera. Also, my in-laws bought this same camera when I got mine and they have gone through two chargers, two batteries and the retractable cover over the lens broke as well. Don't waste your time and money on this camera.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Takes great pictures but battery doesn't charge
from Madison, WI
I love the pictures this camara used to take, but for the past few months it hasn't been charging. I bought a new battery, but that wasn't the problem. Next I am going to buy a new charger, but if that isn't it I am going to have to junk the whole thing.

Not to happy

Got this camera in february of last year as a gift. The camera is fairly good but is not that great. The problem that I got with this camera is that I'm getting a message that the battery is exhausted. I replaced the batteries with new ones and still I'm getting the same message. I did check the old and new batteries with a voltmeter and they are good showing a little over 1.5 volts. Everytime I tried to take pictures I get that message and I can't use the camera.
Could be a lot better.

The camera takes great outdoor shots. Indoor shots come out yellow or orange, and extremely blurry. The camera doesn't capture moving objects well, either. So if you want to photograph your baby smiling or your pet wagging its tongue, this camera's not a great choice.
Good Beginner Camera
I have used this camera for a year and a half and have taken some very nice photos with it. Pros are the high resolution (14 MP), small size, and durability. Cons are that it is not very adjustable, photos are often blurry in low light without flash, and it has a slow response time. I would recommend this camera for a beginner.
Junk ... But Close to Great

Great pictures for three months and then the camera battery door broke. Was told that it was not covered under warranty. Now ... 15 months after purchasing, I see that it's a common problem. Very frustrated. The broken door makes the camera useless. Other than the door ... it's great. Portable, great pictures.
Great pics and videos
Very satisfied with this camer for one year and a half. Lense cover suddenly would not open all the way. Let about 1/2 the space to take a pic with a black bar across the top and bottom. Too bad. I have read this is a common problem.
OK Camera - Lens Problems
The camera had great features and took good pictures. The 7x zoom was very good. After just a little over a year, the lens started to fail. Opened and then closed immediately with a lens error. After connecting to the computer, the issue went away for a short time, but always came back. After 18 months the lens would no longer open. Expensive piece of electronics recycling.
Battery Latch Door-Broken after 10 Months of Daily Use! Under Warranty of 1 year. i will Update on Warranty Progress.
I Bought this L24 Camera on October 4th 2011. it has been a Good Camera up until Now! I use it For Work Every Day Taking Pictures and movies of Jobs. i am in the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Service business. i New From Day One That the Battery Door Was a Weak Link. it is a terrible Design, the Battery Door has So Much pressure on it When you close the Door that it just breaks over time. also the Sd card is in the same slot as the battery's, so to remove the sd card u have to open the battery door and remove battery's to remove sd card. Poor design. this is my third nikon camera. i had 2 Nikon coolpix 7600 before and it was a better designed camera and a better camera overall. only about 7 megapixel though. older technology. but great camera, but agin the battery door was the failure of the 7600 too! although it lasted about 3-5 years. Who ever is Designing the Battery Doors on these camera's ought to be Fired !!! Period!!!
