I bought the iX2000 as soon as I heard hurricane Irene was going to hit. I ended up getting the last one, which was displayed and demo'd on the floor, as it was the last one left. The fuel inside it was brown and foul. The dealer drained it and poured fresh fuel in it and the generator started up on the third pull. It pulsated at first, but what do you expect with 2 year old fuel in it? The dealer I bought this from was very honest and knowledgable. I asked if these generac inverters has any problems, and he said yes. Common problems they see are carburetor issues, choke levers breaking off, oil sensors not working right, and something else which has to do with power surging but I can't remember the exact name of the part. He made sure everything worked right before I left out the door with it. And any problems I had to come right back to him with it. Great thing is, I haven't had any problems with this generator! When we lost power, it ran night and day for 6 straight days. I only shut it off for its first and second oil changes. This guy never quit on me once! In summary, this is an excellent inverter generator, however do not buy this online. Go to an authorized Generac dealer and buy it. Have them start it, check it, and make sure it's ok before going out the door.

We were in the bad hurricane force winds of July 2012 storms; hit twice, without power for over eight days (and only a mere 1/2 block from the staging center for MonPower's power restoration). Luckily I had this as my only way to get any power. It was able to keep my refrigeration running and when the temperatures rose, would switch it back and forth to a small window AC in one room, plus ran my medium size flat screen and small computer to watch some movies (since cable, phone, Net EVERYTHING was out of service). It ran them well, however, it is very hard to restart after running out of gas. Even if you stop it manually to refill, it is hard to restart. It is BRAND NEW, NEW USED before this incident. I've wound up with an extremely sore hand and arm and a couple fingers that are red and raw from pulling the started cord up to 50 times to restart after a refill. On the PLUS side, I timed the running time with the "stopwatch" on my iPod and it ran 4:00:52 (4 hours 52 seconds) with the fridge, 2 fans, small computer and flat screen running off it... so I got longer run times than expected in specs on it. Only had ONE overload (no idea why) the entire week when the AC first engaged (it was a brand new AC I had yet to replace the one in my bedroom with.. so maybe because it was new...) but never did it again over span of 8 days. This may NOT be recommended by manufacturer, so take this advice at own risk: I noticed it seemed rather hot when temps were hitting 100degrees and I took off the side panel to check air filter (clean as brand new) then left off the panel allow more air flow. It was a little easier to start after doing this and seemed to run a bit cooler.

Comments about Generac iX Series 800 Watts Portable Generator:
We were looking for a portable unit for deer camp and ice fishing. After researching other portable generators, went with the IQ2000, believing this will meet our needs. It's nice to see the remaining fuel level and like the different mode options. Nice unit!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Runs quiet, great smart gage of fuel remaining till empty, just fill and hit the rack. It had rained for 3 days while hunting,it ran good non stop
Nice and Quite
Purchased 2 of these portable generators for our RV they are very quite and run great. We like the features on the gas gage and how many hours left till empty are awesome no longer waiting till they run out to see to put in more gas. Takes out the guessing game, also like the feature on how much power your consuming as well.
Love It !!!
I purchased this portable generator for use around my farm and as a power source when camping. I was pleasantly surprised at how quite it operates and the Fuel Gauge, Time to Run and Power Usage read-outs are wonderful. I removed from the box, put in oil and pulled rope twice to make that initial start. A big plus is my wife likes it too. Great Product, Excellent Reputation, Top Notch Quality
Good things come in small packages!
We have lived in the same older home since 1970 and it has a perpetual wet basement. The sump pump runs MANY times during the day. Just recently the electricity was off for several hours 2 times within a week. After struggling to get the old generator in position and operating we decided enough! We needed a more portable generator that was lightweight and easy to handle. This one fit all our needs. It is really quiet and has two outlets which are enough for our basic needs. Really like that it shows how much power it is using for operating the sump pump to see what it is left to use for something else.
Also own a Honda 3000iu for my camper, I'm disabled and have trouble lifting and managing a bulky load. Wish I had just purchased 2 of the Generac 2000iq generators.
Great product, delivers at a great price
This is a small, powerful generator. Powered my needs during a multi day power outage. Compare at twice the price of competition. Really clean power for electronics. Great piece of mind when you need it.
Happy to have purchgased the IQ2000 over the red competitor
I struggled with the decision to purchase the IQ2000 over the EU 2000i. I needed a compact, quiet, conservative generator to power my 32 foot boat while docked away from port. After listening to a trusted freind who had researched the product and stressed the fact it had been tested by three independent labratories; I bit the bullet and made the purchase, That evening after oiling and gassing my new unit it sat runnning next to a honda both at full load, as they were heating the hot water tanks in the boats. The Honda was predominantly the loudest across all load conditions. The LED instrumentation was also great, i could look from inside my boat when I woke in the morning to see the remaining fuel level before starting the coffee pot. Throughout the entire Memorial day weekend "60hrs" of use the IQ2000 burned 5 gallons of fuel. Needless to say, I made the right choice and got alot of Honda owners attention.
I tossed around the ideal of getting a portable generator so I wouldn't have to lug around my other larger ones. I was convinced that the Honda eu2000 was the best and quietest on the market until I started reading about the Generac iq2000 and watching some videos. I just couldn't make myself spend 900.00+ for a Honda. So I purchased the Generac iq2000 last week. It arrived extremely well packaged, with manual, engine oil and funnel. Added the engine oil and some gasoline and it fired right up. This unit is quiet !!! performs well and I love the features it has. Well done Generac !!!
Great product for us Over The Road truckers....
Hello.....being new as an OTR trucker, I discovered that even with the truck's already installed 1800 watt power inverter, it does not last long enough when one is parked for at least 34 hours, while completing what's known a 34hr reset (a new 70hr On Duty clock is then given). On a very hot/cold day, with the A/C-Heat being on and at its lowest settings, with a TV, satellite dish, and an external hard drive (to record programs) plugged in, the truck will begin to shut down non essential items after about 12hours, such as the lights inside the truck, and the refrigerator (refrigerator is non essential??!!), and if long enough, when turning the truck on to juice up the truck's batteries, it will cut power completely to the inverter for a brief moment, that's a sure sign the truck's resources are getting very low. So, I decided to look into a portable generator, and after looking at and looking in depth at many other brand's details, this Generac IQ2000 caught my eye. I really liked the gauges it had showing, that is very convenient, I felt the 1600 watts was more than enough for my needs, those items mentioned above does not even register the 20% load indicator, and usually will show close to 13hrs remaining. I can even plug the truck into this generator to help juice up the truck's resources if need be! MInd you, this will probably not charge up the truck's auxiliary power supply, which runs the A/C and Heat, but once those have extinguished it's power source, i can then run a cooler or heater inside the truck, that's a big plus! I think, in my opinion, this company should direct its advertising to us OTR truckers....this is a great product.....Home Run!!!!! Chris.
