I've only had this air purifier for a few weeks, but I can already tell the difference. My allergies seem a lot less severe and my eyes are not burning as much at night. And my asthmatic cat has not had an attack since I turned it on. It's also very quiet. I highly recommend this product.

Second unit that I have purchased - first one is over 10 years old and still working! Unit works as advertised and is simple to maintain. Two negatives - First, the fan on the unit I got was wobbly - large poorly-molded plastic piece that is the heart of the unit. The whole unit would vibrate - more noticable at lower speeds. ABT promptly replaced the unit, and the second unit was no better. Will this affect motor performance over long time ?? If you can live with the poor quality control from whirlpool, then you are fine. This is not ABT's fault in any way. Second negative is that the air through dirty filters begins to smell a bit funky over time.

I bought this based on a rating in a consumer product review magazine. It's rather lightweight, but much larger than I expected it to be (take in to account I didn't look at the measurements before ordering). You will need to get a new HEPA filter yearly, and a new pre-filter about every three months according to the directions. I've been running mine off and on for about a month and have yet to see the filter life indicators reduce.

The unit is truly fantastic at reducing dust, pollen, and other allergens. I've put it in my bedroom near the door and it's really helped me to breathe easier while I sleep. Friends and family pointed out that my heat pump has a filtration system on it, but this really does do a lot more than that.

I was a bit worried that the lights on the control panel would be too bright and light up a dark bedroom, but they're not. I expected that putting it in sleep mode would turn those lights off while it continued to run. All that sleep mode does is put it on Low speed for eight hours, then automatically return to the previously set speed.

It is a bit louder than I expected, both on "Turbo" (the highest setting) as well as on Low (the lowest setting). I think the first night or two gave me a bit of trouble, but then I got used to it and could fall asleep with it on. I thought I'd read that it had a five speed fan, so perhaps the sleep mode setting would take the fan to a lower level than "Low", but it doesn't. The only speeds are Low, Medium, High, and Turbo.

A couple of nice things about it are that it is well designed. It is built such that it can be positioned directly against a wall, the air flows in through the front grill and out the top. It doesn't rattle or shake/vibrate at all, aside from the noise of the air movement it really is quiet. There is a cavity at the bottom of the back where the unused power cord length can be tucked, and it has a right angle plug so the unit could be pushed against the outlet or a piece of furniture could go up against it.

I use it in my busy city apartment. The turbo mode is kinda loud but i dont mind the white noise. I havent woke up with a stuffy nose since i got it.

Love this. My husband has really bad allergies. We bought the air purifier so he could breath at night. He now sleeps great. Plus we didn't have to get rid of the cat. I would recommend this for anyone suffering from allergies.

I bought this unit to use in my bedroom, and bought the larger size to allow me to use it anywhere in the home. From the first day, it made an incredible improvement in air quality. I have a dog and a cat. It was imperative to buy one of the most highly rated & effective units on the market. I did my research and this unit is fantastic. When I started having issues at work, I bought another unit for my office. My colleagues cannot believe the improvement in the air. If you suffer with from issues with airborne particles, this unit is a must. ABT has awesome prices!

They refer to this as a whisper quiet item. The motor is but the wind noise the fan creates is not. On the lowest setting it is still audiable. I suppose one would get used to it. But when watching tv or sleeping we keep it off. Otherwise it's like sleeping in a hotel room with the airconditioner on low.

I bought this product based on the reviews that I read. Given the price, I'm not all that satisfied. It has helped control the dust im my house created by my two dogs, but not nearly to the extent that I expected based on the reviews. In fairness, it probably doesn't help that I have two big dogs and we've had a horribly rainy winter (i.e. the mud they are bringing in has been excessive).

I guess it depends on what you expect from this product. If you want it to clean the air from smoke, typical dust, allergins, etc....it works pretty well. If you're wanting it to control dust from pets...it works moderately well.

This air purifier sits by a smoker and he actually leaves it on turbo. His cigarette smoke was so bad I could not stand to be in the same room. Now I still smell the cigarette smoke but I can now stand to be in the same room.
I have to shut off the fans or the cigarette smoke is pulled away from the air purifier, but this air purifier works great! I read some comments about this model making noise. This one is quiet compared to the 4 older air purifiers we have but are all made from other companies. I made sure this air purifier was placed on a very sturdy table. I found from a different air purifier from a different company, when I put it on a non sturdy table, after awhile the older model made noise.
