House guest for 2 weeks had a high sensitivity to dust, etc. Bought unit because initial/normal cleaning was not addequate. After 2 days, guest said unit corrected previous allergic/dust irritation.
Unit's large air-filtration capacity and various speed settings very beneficial for both its effectivity and noise-comfort.

Bought this when my girlfriend with asthma was moving in to get rid of the remains of the cat dander in the house. Within a couple weeks, it was completely gone. Just went around stirring up the corners, dusting, etc. and this device cleared it out.

It's been running nightly in the bedroom for well over a year and has required little maintenance other than replacing the filters every so often.

I bought this unit to get rid of second-hand smoke smell in my living room and it works. This is a great value for the price and it's also quiet comparing to similar product. I am thinking of getting a second one for my kids bedroom.

I purchased two of these over 10 years ago, and maybe closer to 12 or 13 years. Both are still going strong, although one of them started a small squeaking noise almost from the beginning, and I haven't figured out why - but it's barely noticable. Otherwise they are VERY quiet on the low setting, and more like a white noise in the bedroom at the next to the lowest setting. At the higher settings they sound like a normal fan. I use one in my upstairs bedroom, which is fairly large for SoCal tract house standards, and the other is downstairs in my family room, which is a great room coupled with the kitchen. I have used the upstairs machine pretty consistently for all those years, and the downstairs one one and off. I've had a cat in the house my entire life, but didn't have a problem with that until the last 10-15 years (I'm on the other side of 60), and now have a tendancy to cough at night in bed if the fan isn't on. It wasn't until I rescued two teenage kittens in January of this year (2012) that I realized how much fur floats around the house! These filters catch the fur, remove certain....ahem...sandbox odors quickly, and a well known consumer reporting magazine rated them highest at the time they were intially produced. I just purchased the 3rd one to have as a backup or add to the downstairs if I decide to put it out in the dining/living room areas. Great product!
