The product is excellent for cleaning spills/stains on carpet. I do not like to use the rotary brush on my fine carpet as it tends to distrub the fibers with the circular motion. However, the extractor vaccum is outstanding on it's own for cleaning.

I bought the Dirt Devil to clean the obnoxious "car air-freshener" smell from the used car I purchased. I needed to scrub the upholstery and carpets with a machine that had never had perfumed products used in it, and this unit was the only one I found that was a decent price and promised to work on the job I needed it for. The ads should mention that it is to be used only in the horizontal position (shock risk), but that didn't hamper me too much. If the job is a bigger one, you may want to squirt your cleaning solution onto the fabric with a separate hand-held sprayer rather than use that attached sprayer, as the action is stiff. Cleaning and suction modes are good enough that, even though I wasn't using a soap to deoderize the car, the shampooer cleaned out the dirt in the carpet very well. Be sure to empty the used H2O reservoir well before it reaches the half full mark, or it will spray thru the motor all over you. All in all, I thought the shampooer worked very well and was easy to use and reassamble after fills.

Unfortunately I have not used the product yet. I came down with a diblitating problem and am unable to do the work. However I can say that any other product I have had from Bissel was the best for the price. I will use it when my problem is cleared up and gone.
