Experience bass like never before from a shelf system. This unit is unlike any other with a design that matches it’s unique features. I have always trusted Sony and it’s products so naturally I was drawn to this beautiful shelf-system. I have gotten so many complements from friends wishing they had one in their home. Listening to music, weather it be CD’s, the tuner, or my iTouch, is a whole new experience. Movies and gamming sounds fill the room with rich deep bass and effects making everything you listen to more enjoyable. I can’t say enough about the Muteki LBT-XZ99i. Let’s just say “You need to hear it for yourself to believe it!

I purchased this system because it seemed to have everything I was looking for in a shelf system- an ipod dock plus a line in-put for a pc. It offers decent wattage and looks nice. However, the sound is awful. Regardless of the price-inexpensive but not cheap, the sound should be decent or at least adequate. I guess adequate is my best description of the sound if you don't really care that your music will sound bad playing through this system. I was aware of the lack of subwoofer but I expected the bass to be decent; it's mushy. No distinction exists between the highs and mids as well.

Comments about Sony Mini Hi-Fi Shelf System:
I have been listening to it since 2009.Sound is amazing very powerful. Very adjustable. You can control the Bass Mid and High. I bought just one last week, My cousin had one but he left the house so I had to take my own. Wife wants to kill me, but Love I my Sony. I got it before it got discontinued. So go and buy yours, they are durable and plenty of quality. The walls seems like they are falling apart.

I've had this stereo system over 2 years now and it's still kicking like crazy. I probably blast this thing at parties at least once every 2 weeks. Even though Sony has come out with newer and better products now, I am still incredibly pleased with this system and plan on keeping it for years to come. I'm even returning to Sony to buy their powered subwoofer to add to this system. Don't get me wrong, the bass is already very punchy, but I just can't wait to hear how this setup sounds with a 10'' sub attached.

I've had this system approaching two years, there's been no loss of quality and i regularly play this extremely loud. sound quality is very high, as expected from sony and the x-groove system works magic and the bass rocks your body. Only issue is the head system is a tad large/cumbersome to move. not heavy, but awkward. very easy to connect to your computer or other system. spectacular product for only $450. would definitely recommend.

When i bought this I wasnt really up to date when it came to electronics, I am used to stuff like heath kit, build your own stereo, and when I looked at this it had a secondary cooling fan the heat syncs, besides being naturally air cooled. There wgneticallyas one thing if anyone has the tube styl tv still the speakers are not magnetically shielded either, and if the speakers sit close to the tv, your tv wont last very long, not sure about these flat tvs, and the stereo is idiot proof for the most part, I had it out of the box and hooked up and running in less than five min.. I also love the game sync, if you have something with alot of bass, you will defanately be pleased....I hope this helps

Nice system, everything you need
This is a very nice stereo system for the sound quality. I would call myself a casual listener of almost all kinds of music (not opera or classic or stuff like that). Iv'e had this system for a few years now and i haven't encountered a single issue. EXCEPT that these speakers produce very little bass. I'm not sure why, but they also crackle at medium volumes when i boost the bass on my laptop. So definitely consider paying the $50 more for the system similar to this one with the subwoofer (i dont own that system but it should add some bass...) But if you dont even know what the word bass means, you will find these speakers as a great buy. Highs and mids are crisp though, just not good enough for bass heads.

This is an amazing stereo system and I would highly recommend it. It has great sound, great base, and lives up to its name. The only thing about it is that if you are going to buy it I would get the other system that is almost exactly the same except it has a subwoofer. This one doesn't even have a port for a subwoofer. The other bad parts are the radio antenna is a cord instead of an antenna and it doesn't pick up single as good as some others. Also, the iPod dock flips down out of the front so it is a little loose when locked in place. I still love my system no matter what though.

Pretty much useless
from Madison, WI
I purchased it specifically for it's iPhone compatibility. It says iPhone compatible all over the website. Well that's kinda true. I ordered it only to find out It won't work with iPhone 4 and up. Besides that, it sounds like junk. The bass is too much, muted and mushy sounding. No matter where you set the EQ. And the cheap plastic chassis rattles and buzzes because of the bass. Take your iPhone/iPod to a brick and mortar store and try it out before buying. Walk away from this one. I returned mine and I just ordered a different brand that I tried out in the store.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Sony's are sick
These speakers Are AWESOME!! They have tons of bass that shake the house and are honest when it says "fuel your next party". I Used them as party speakers and they worked great. I dont know if overheating is a problem with other speakers but it isnt with these. I played them at a party for 3+ hours at max volume and they sounded great the whole time. I recommend these speakers to anybody!

Another cheaped-down unit from Sony, does anyone really believe it is putting out 280 wpc RMS? No, it's some marketing guy's definition of "power". The drivers are enclosed in cheap 1/2" fiberboard. Notice they won't even list the frequency response of the speakers? I bet you're not getting anything below 80 Hz without a sub-woofer. All glitz and no substance, like most stuff from Sony these days (compare with the SONY STR-V7, go ahead and google it, see how things USED to be!). I'll stick with my TRUE 80 wpc Pioneer SX-980 from the late 70's, that receiver weighs 42 pounds and kicks this unit's butt!
