This KitchenAid® 30-Inch, 4-Burner Downdraft Cooktop is a great looking cook top. The down draft exhaust fan works extremely well. The burners are electronic start and gas operated with great heat control. The only thing I do not like about it is that the Black Mirror Finish is extremely hard to clean, you would think that Kitchen Aid would make a product that the top shiny black glass finish can be easily wiped off with a mild detergent or a product like Windex. I hate to see what it will look like in 5 years of use.

The cooktop is very attractive, but only before its first use. However, that is my first complaint - it is extremely difficult and time consuming to clean. After nearly every use, all of the components need to be removed, cleaned using separate protocols and then reassembled ? a process that takes no less than 15 minutes. The black glass is especially hard to clean, and the position of the knobs makes it impossible to clean around them without removing the knobs and the rubber seals. It also took many weeks of experimentation to determine that the only way to avoid streaking was to finish with a microfiber towel (no other material works). It would have been helpful if the instructions had said that.Second, after only a few uses, the porcelain surface on the cast iron grates began bubbling off. In addition, due to the glossy surface and the fact that the grates have an overall convex shape, some pans have a tendency to slip off the sides ? a very dangerous proposition. As for cooking, I don?t find any of the burners to have a high enough BTU rating to boil water in a satisfactory amount of time (nor keep a big pot of pasta boiling properly) ? the maximum burner is only 15,000 BTU. And here?s something that makes things worse ? when the downdraft exhaust is on, it pulls the flame so strongly to one side, that the opposite side of the flame almost doesn?t exist! This makes for unacceptably uneven cooking.I checked the internet for other reviews of this cooktop to see if I was the only one who had similar problems ? far from it. All of the problems I have experiences are common. I?ve come to the conclusion that this cooktop is just for looks and isn?t a serious cooking device. Before I just throw this out and spend a lot of money buying another brand , I thought I would check and see if there was anything KitchenAid was willing to do. They made it very clear that they weren't willing to do anything regarding my dissatisfaction with this product.

Much better cooktop than the GE I had - more BTU's per burner. Looks terrific and is a snap to clean. Very pleased to date.

Love the look, but it is a challenge to keep the glass clean. We appreciate the high-output and simmer burners. Fourtunately this unit replaced our 22 year old Jenn- Air cook top perfectly. Our granite countertop would have made modifications problematic. The existing ductwork for the exhaust matched up perfectly.
Lent replacement for my Electric cooktop.
I cracked my electric cooktop & decided to replace it with gas. I have never had a gas stove before, but I am very pleased with it.

I purchased this cook top as a replacement for the Jenn-Air one that we put in the house when it was built 28 years ago. I spent quite a bit of time researching many brands, with the following 'musts' I wanted: stylish look, easy to clean, convenient control knobs right in front, different BTU-rated burners (as nice feature), and the requirement of downdraft venting.Everything is great....except the downdraft venting. My unit does NOT look like the diagram of the one in the Installation Manual - on mine, the box the power cord comes out of to connect to the blower motor is mounted at the front of the unit, and it is impossible to rotate the blower exhaust scroll 90 degrees to the 'down' position as the cord is too short.I am currently waiting for a reply from Customer Service on what their solution is to correct this.

Great Downdraft Cooktop

This is a very modern looking, quick to light, and easy to clean stove. The burners vary in size and fit your pans perfectly to avoid wasted gas. The exhaust fan turns on manually, rather than automatically, so you have complete control.
