We purchased this cooktop because I really wanted gas and I needed a downdraft. This cooktop cooks very well. I love the easy clean. The only thing I don't like is the vent is so strong it pulls the flames slightly when cooking. The vent is extremely effective. Great look in the island.

We bought the Kitchen Aide KGCD808xss four burner with the down draft exhaust fan to replace an electric unit of similar design. I was tired of electric and this unit let us meet code with out significant remodeling. And then the honeymoon ended. When the gas is turned on all the ignitors click. A safety feature, not hardly. Read on.The ignitors are a major problems. Turn the gas on and all the ignitors start to click. The problem is sometimes the gas ignites and sometimes it doesn't. We have 2 burners that haven't lit with the ignitors in months. This is a major safety problem in addition to being a functional nuisance. There are more problems with the ignitors. On several occasions they have started to click for no apparent reason and won't turn off even when all the burners are extinguished. The only way to stop the clicking is to power down the unit then restart it. When nothing else works - reboot! The knobs are cheaply made , very easy to break and are expensive to replace.Down drafts of this design have an inherent problem, particularly with gas flames. They distort the flame pattern causing an undesirable cooking profile. This one is no exception.

Comments about KitchenAid 30" KGCD807XBL Black Gas Cooktop:
After researching several 30" downdraft cooktops (there aren't that many) to replace the GE model we had and after reading several reviews, we came to the conclusion that the KitchenAid model was the best. It looks great and installation was a breeze. The glass cooktop is easy to clean and the controls are simple to operate, although the flame starting in the high position took some getting used to. We had also read about concerns with the downdraft fan interfering with the heating elements, but we've not had any problems with maintaining temps at any of the burners.

Changed out after 22 years.

Previous model of this range top with the name plate Jenn-Air served us well since building house in early 1990's. Small glass cracks in back of stove and knobs that continuously broke dictated time for a new model.Liked the styling so we purchased the same range now labeled KitchenAid. Small improvements especially to knobs and fan noise. In my mind the best recommendation is buying the product a second time.

Love the extra large burner and the built in the fan. No more food smells throughout the house.

I just got my new cooktop installed and just in time for Thanksgiving. It really completes my kitchen and I'm so happy with the preformance and the style. I'm always cooking and hate cleaning up, but this is really easy to keep clean.
Went haywire on the very first day.

Finished our kitchen re-model the day before Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving morning, I turned on two burners...one to boil my turkey giblets & one to boil my sweet potatoes. After both were done, I turned of the burners & retired to our den to rest a while before continuing. From the den, I heard "click, click, click". The electric igniters were going off all by themselves while the stove top was turned completely off. I could not get them to turn off, so finally I had to crawl under my "island" cabinet & unplug my cooktop. Spent the rest of Thanksgiving having to light every burner every time with a butane fireplace lighter. So far, I am not a fan of this purchase.
Changed from electric

Wish I had changed to gas a long time ago. This is a much "softer" heat in that there is no contact with the electric coil causing burning. Yes, the downdraft does pull the flame, but I just adjust the pan to center over the flame and we do not fry much, so I do not have to use the downdraft all that much. Very easy to clean cooktop as grills lift off leaving a smooth top to clean.
beautiful stovetop, and works fantastic!

I've had this for a month, after pining for a new stovetop for over a year. This has great control over the flame, and the different size burners let you fit the task and pot needed. While it's easy to sponge off and still looks brand new, it is a little bit of a challenge to keep the glass looking perfectly smudge free. I think that long term, this will look better and will not show stains or scratches, so overall a great stove top!
