Hey I just replaced my old Equator Washer Ventles dryer combo with this one and I have to admit that I'm amazed !!! It has very large loading door, the direct drive makes it very quiet, control panel is very intuitive and the overal design is great ! So far I can not find anything which would make me rate it less than 5 stars !!!
I got it in my kitchen and its ventless drying makes it perfect for my place !

I had read reviews regarding this unit, so I knew what I was getting myself into. I am still on the learning curve, but it does take a long time to run a load. Clothes come Out very clean and it dries ok. I bought this because space wise, it was my only option. I am glad I purchased the extended Warranty, just in case because I am worried about the lint issue.

I read the other two reviews on this page, and have to agree with both--this is a great unit for small spaces, and there are issues with lint.

I replaced the washer/dryer combo in my condo after the old one (which never worked well) died completely. This one cleans well, doesn't wrinkle the clothes like the old one did, and dries the clothes even when I overfill a bit.

That said, moving from a regular washer/dryer to a combo machine is an adjustment . . . a load takes 4-6 hours to run, the cool down period after that is quite long (you can trick the machine by turning it off and on again, which will unlock it after a minute or two . . . but the clothing temperature will be just shy of the melting point of the steel interior, so handle with care), the machine is built to wash a bigger load than it can dry (which is kind of stupid), and the lint does tend to pill up on the clothes instead of washing into the lint trap.

I also have had to have Abt repair folks come out and clean the lint from the guts of the machine. But, only once in the four years I've had this machine and I have two affectionate, long-haired cats.

The main reason I got this unit is that my building does not have a ventilation system, so even though I could probably squeeze in a stacked unit in my condo, ventilation would be a huge issue. This machine is vent-free and does not heat up my already-too-hot condo. I also don't have 220v electricity, which most dryers require. That, of course, can be fixed, but the cost savings for not having to have electrical work done does make up for the fact that this is not a cheap machine.

All in all, I'm very happy with the machine. I expect that I'll have to have a repairman out sometime in the next two years to clean the lint out once more--though I may attempt to do it myself . . . it didn't look like rocket science when I watched it being done.

This is our second LG combo washer/dryer unit, purchased after our first one succombed from a decade of good use. LG is pretty much top of the line for these combo units.

First impression was that this machine was significantly improved over the previous models; clothes came out dryer and less wrinkly than from its predecessor, and the machine was a little quieter overall. This lasted for about a month. After a year of use in which we've had no less than a half dozen service visits, I believe that this machine has some engineering flaws that relate to durability and lint catching that its predecessor did not. The fight against lint in the condenser and pumps seems to be a constant battle, one that requires regular technician visits every few months to clean out the machine and hoses so that the machine will continue to function. This despite our best attempts at doing all of the recommended user maintenance and cleaning and even lintrolling clothing before washing.

I am beyond grateful that we purchased a 4-year service agreement on this machine, and are not paying $100+ per service visit every couple of months yet.

On the plus side, you can't beat a machine that will wash and dry your clothes, can fit in the space of a dishwasher, and doesn't require venting. We don't have any alternatives in our small condo, so this is a requirement.We are a small family of 3, and it functions for us for the most part. This is not a large family or heavy use machine.

On the negative side, cycles are really long on these machines (4-5 hours min for washing and drying until the hoses need clearing of lint - we can always tell by increased dry time or wet clothes at cycle's end). Also, due to the experience we've had thus far, I cannot recommend highly enough getting a service agreement on this machine.

I purchased this unit to replace an old washer/dryer combo that I inherited when I bought my condo. Due to the size and limitations of my space, I needed something that could install under the kitchen counter, European style, which this does. This LG works way better than the old one. It cleans clothes really well. I have a very affectionate long haired cat, so my clothes are covered in fur. This w/d does an excellent job cleaning them.

If you are a heavy user with multiple people in the household, this unit is probably not for you. It is not really a replacement for a full size washer and full size dryer. However, if you have a small space, live in a condo or high rise, etc. This is a great option. Basically you set the type of cycle (cotton, delicates, wool) and it selects a temperature and dry cycle for you. You can change the pre-sets within certain limitations. This is a little annoying, but you get used to figuring out what combo of pre-sets will give you what you want.

The cons are that the unit does not hold large, heavy bulky loads and the cycles are very long, particularly the drying cycles. It is also difficult to run just the dryer, although you can manage to override the settings. I would say this washes and dries about half what you would put in a full size washer or dryer, and takes several hours to wash and dry. For me this is not an issue, I just set it at night when I go to bed. But for a busy family, this could be difficult. I can't speak to the longevity since I bought this a couple months ago, but so far it seems to be working well.
