Wish I had a dollar for every hour I spent reading reviews and researching washer/dryer sets. It is afer all a substantial investment we hope lasts for many years to come. So far we are VERY pleased and my wife is thrilled!! She almost looks for reasons to do the laundry!! For those of you in the process of doing your buying homework, consider the following. Warranty: This unit has a direct drive DC motor with a 10 year warranty. No belts or gear boxes to wear out & replace. Noise: This thing is amazingly quiet. I suspect the above mentioned drive system has alot to do with that. Our machines are located next to the kitchen and unfortunately we don't have a laundry room. With this set, it's a non-issue. We can eat dinner or watch TV and sometimes forget we did a load of laundry! Stink & Mold: Chances are, this is your biggest concern in considering a front loader. Well let me put your mind at ease. LG has solved this problem by adding a magnetic catch on the door, allowing the door to be held 90% closed to air dry the internals before "stink" sets in. Regardless of design or manufacturer, if you seal the door on a front loader you will have a stinky washer. If water isn't allowed to evaporate, it stagnates. Simple as that. It's also the reason top loaders don't have this issue because the lid is never sealed. So why do some people have this issue while others do not? Simple. The 'stink' issue is not a problem for families who use their machines daily, but for people like us who do laundry once a week AND you seal the door, its an inevitable. Bottom line, LG installed the magnetic door catch for a reason. Use it. Size: Unlike inefficient wasteful top loaders, you can buy the largest front loader without worry. This unit automatically adjusts water level based on load size and because it's large, it allows you to wash more items in less loads. Saving even more water and energy. Oh and if you forget an item, it allows you to add garments during the wash cycle, just like a top loader. I should also mention. Although we have a well and do not have to pay for water by the gallon, I take comfort in the fact that we aren't dumping 150-200 gallons of soapy water into our septic system every week. Not to mention the energy cost of pumping and heating that many gallons of water! Sometimes what you don't see can cost you in other ways. Wash time: Front loaders do require more wash time. One hour is typical however what they use in additional time is recovered in the dry cycle. The super fast spin speed removes at least 2-3 times more water than the best top loader I've seen. A load of bath towls usually is dry in less than 20 minutes. Amazing! Shake and Wobble: A thing of the past. Regardless what you put into this thing, it automatically re-positions the laundry when it senses the load out of balance. For this reason alone I'll NEVER go back to a top loader! Wash quality. So far it has cleaned my greasy clothing better than our old top loader AND the clothing comes out softer. I suspect that has more to do with the HE detergent (less of it) and the washer's ability to rinse detergent from the garmets. Cost & Value: Without question this W & D set will cost you a pretty penny. My brow had a sweat bead when I wrote the check followed by a moment of doubt. Now that we have them in our home the quality and value has become more evident than we could have expected. The obvious savings are in water & energy but we also value non tangible things like being able to finish the laundry in half the time and number of loads, can peacefully enjoy dinner or TV and we don't have to hover near by to fix the dreaded spin wobble of our old top loader. Plus we can wash our thick king size comforter and my car cover instead of going to the laundry mat! Given the chance to buy again, I would in a heartbeat. My only regret is that I waited so long to buy it.

I have had this washer for 1 week as of today and have done about 10-15 loads. I have used the cotton, sanitary, steam, speed wash, perm press, and tub clean cycles. After the washer â€˜sensesâ€™ the load it give you the estimate wash time, and tells you where in the cycle it is. I AM RETURNING THIS WASHER. IT IS MAKING MY CLOTHES STINK. When I got my washer delivered it had an odor. I wasnâ€™t sure if it was just new rubber smell or something else. After a few washes I have clothes coming out with a stink from it. You can even smell the stink after they are dried. This was I had already used the sanitary and steam cycles. I thought the 'new' smell should have been gone but now believe it was not a 'new' smell to begin with. I am not as 'wowed' by this washer as I was expecting to be, especially for its high price. This washer has a steam feature but I donâ€™t feel it works as well as described. When itâ€™s used it does have a small flow of water that gets the clothes in front wet. =( Itâ€™s not supposed to. As said in other reviews there is water sitting in the door seal as well as in the soap dispenser and even in the tubing behind the soap dispenser. This increases the odor problem. Although it has an option of 'water plus' I didn't see any difference in the water level with this option on. I am in an 8 year old house with the laundry room on the second floor. We had a 6 year old LG that was shaking our house. The old washer does not have TrueBalanceâ„¢ Anti Vibration System load balancing technology. Sadly although there is a reduction in shaking we still have windows vibrating on the high or extra high spin speeds. Yes the TrueBalanceâ„¢ Anti Vibration System kicks in quickly but there still is quite a bit of vibration felt even right on the floor around the machine. (Yes it is completely leveled, the shipping bolts are out, the leveling feet are locked, I even used a level on all side to check for levelness, and performed the diagonal rock test, and all results are perfect.) My old washer also had both a speed wash and an option to â€˜quick cycleâ€™ most of the other cycles. This option would cut anywhere from 25% to 50% or more of the wash time by shortening the spins between washes and rinsing but not on the final rinse. This new â€˜high techâ€™ washer does not have the option to â€˜quick cycleâ€™ the other washes. The speed wash is only 15 or 20 minutes which is GREAT! The sanitary is about 1 hour and 45 minutes which I feel is a good time for such thorough cleaning. You can add the steam feature to most washes. You can add rinses to I think all cycles. You can also choose between 1 to 3 extra rinses. I really like this. You can delay the start of the wash up to 19 hours which is nice and expected of such a pricey machine. Although this washer has a tub light itâ€™s because itâ€™s needed! The door has a â€˜smokedâ€™ outer door panel so you cannot see into the washer with the door shut without the light on. I wish the door panel was clear. There also is a magnetic plunger that props the door about 1/2 inch open at best to allow for air flow. I donâ€™t feel this is enough space to really allow the air to move. The hinges on this washer does not allow the door to open as far as other models. It does not have the â€˜double hingesâ€™ that other LG models have. So even when its open all the way open its only about 2/3 open so itâ€™s in the way to walk past if you need to. The soap tray has air wholes but this allows the loud noise of the water intake to be heard clearly. The in washing spray has a decent power behind it so it does a fair job of helping wet clothes and moving wash water over the clothes. At the end of the cycle it plays a tune to let you know itâ€™s done, but when on a different floor from the washer, even when set on the loudest setting, itâ€™s hard to hear. IF this washer did NOT make my clothes smell terrible, I would rate this washer at about average because of its options, but not up to standards for its price.

Cleans well, good capacity, quiet with many great features. Con - smells horrible. Clothes come out smelling like musty basement and occasionally there is an incredible rotten egg smell. I have used tablets, bleach, clean tub cycle and thoroughly wiped off rubber sealer. Nothing works. I have had this for less than a year and am getting rid of it for a top loader. Expensive mistake.

Washing machine I've ever owned. This machine does an excellent job of cleaning, uses minmal water, and makes very little noise. Our laundry room is on the main level and we can leave the laundry room door open and still hardly hear it. The steam and allergy cycles are very useful- we have a house full of pets- dog, cat, birds. The large capacity allows us to wash large items at home instead of taking them to a laundromat. The machine was a bit on the spendy side, but the quality and functionality make it well worh it

We have been using this machine about a month now and are very impressed with its features, its excellent cleaning performance, the choices of cycles and the ability to customize and tweak the cycles. How well it cleans with so little water is amazing. That is a very important feature for us because we are on a well with a reverse osmosis system that must produce every gallon of water used. The capacity dwarfs our old washer and is also one of the reasons we bought this model, as we have some rather bulky items that we occasionally have to wash. The machine handles them with no problems. The speed wash feature is very handy for doing quick washes of exercise clothes or small loads. I believe the machine uses less water than I did washing and rinsing exercise clothes in the sink. The steam feature works great, and we are very pleased with the "cold wash" feature as well as the wash/rinse optimizer. It is nice to not have to question whether an extra rinse will be needed--with the optimizer the washer figures it out, again saving precious stored water. Overall we are extremely pleased with this washer; it is truly a high-performance machine. I rated it average in value because it is somewhat expensive, but we do not at all regret investing in such a great machine. Now, we just hope that it lives up to LG's reputation for quality and long life.

I just bought this unit after the 3 year old LG I had just was shaking my home too much. I had installed the old one on the second floor after moving into my new home last year. I always just thought it was not leveled properly. I finally had enough and went out shopping, I found that there is new tech on this washer. It works, it doesn't shake at all. It is much quieter than the dryer and the only thing I hear is the water rushing into the unit during the cycle. It is pretty awesome, and I am happy I bought it. I got a super deal from a national box store, can't believe it. Thank you LG.

It's been a long time coming for me to get a brand new washer/dryer set ... we did our research! The quality of the wash is excellent, I even put some stinky stained sheets and with the right detergent, extra rinses and bleach you can't tell they were ever stinky! My husband works in an oil field and comes home with petroleum sludge on his jeans often... and with a little Tide ... heavy duty load and 3 extra rinses ... WAMMO!!! CLEAN! Fresh smelling just amazing! I have only one complaint ... I went to wash some bathmat style rugs and I guess they wouldn't balance right ... it got stuck in the rinse cycle. I took the rugs out and rearranged them with the same results. It wouldn't spin the rugs. I hung them out to dry and then fluffed them in the dryer. The manual is at least a 1/4 " thick so there's more to learn. Ease of use for general functions is easy. I need to learn how to program my settings for say my husbands uniforms. I love the Wash feature it cleans your drum out if you do have a need to. Oh yeah clean the filter at the lower left hand corner 2x's per month!! I'm doing at least 3 loads less per week for a family of 4!!! EXTRA LARGE capacity ROCKS!!
