We have owned this machine and its matching dryer (with pedestals for both) for a little over twelve months. In the first 9 months a major bearing in the machine went out twice. The first time this happened the machine was 3 months old. Machine was inoperable while waiting on parts for 3 1/2 weeks. Requests for replacement met with "against company policy to replace a repairable problem". 5 months later the same problem occurs again, and again we wait for parts for several weeks, and again met with the same policy from Maytag Corporate Office. As advised by Maytag we took their approved providers extended warranty and now machine has again presented with the same problem. Repair was denied due to the fact that it is "no longer cost effective for us to repair the machine". Maytag has admitted that there is a design flaw/defect in the product but will not replace it with a comparable model, and as it is now outside of their 12 month warranty, a catch 22 because they wouldn't replace it during their warranty period either. Maytag are now referring us back to extended warranty plan providers, who will give us a small refund at a reduced rate for "depreciation" on the machine, for us to buy it's replacement and nothing for the pedestal which will also need to be replaced. Customer service is non existent, and calls to their "customer service" section are met with a sugar coated version of it's not their problem. So basically the machine has depreciated $300 from original cost, the machine they recommend we buy is significantly more expensive than the original, we need to buy a new pedestal because the new machine does not fit on the old one, and the machine does not match the dryer. Lucky us! So much for a quality product, customer service and a manufacturer standing behind their product. Maytag apologizes for our frustration but can not help us!

We have owned this washer for a little over a year. It has been repaired twice under warranty The basket and tub have been replaced. It now has the same problem again. Do yourself a favor and find another washer.

Great machine. It's quiet, efficient, and at the end of the cycle leaves clothes considerably less wet than my old top loader. Control lock is also great when you have little ones who can reach all the buttons.
