Nice Frig, Not for Everyone; Shop Wisely

Comments about KitchenAid Monochromatic Stainless Steel Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator:
This Frig caught the wife's eye but was not my first choice; too many "bells & whistles" which translates to "more to break down"...that's why they offer you an extended warranty, right? We've had it since January and so far, so good....only complaint, and it's minor, but as large as it is, our family of four still has trouble getting it efficiently loaded with the variety of food and drinks we enjoy (one of us is a vegan...!!!). Everything else seems to work well, including the ice maker and water dispenser. Got our fingers crossed it stays that way for awhile...!!!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Owned almost 2 years and still love it!
from Houston, Tx
This is a very attractive fridge in design. Love the water dispenser and filter, used constantly. The ice maker is a bit of an issue, but not a deal breaker. It is small (it's in the door after all), and when it get's hot in the house the ice can melt a bit. We live in Texas so in the summer we keep the house at 80F, that's when I run into issues with the ice maker. The ice can become stuck from falling into the catch bin, so that's a bit of a pain, but again not the end of the world. We've had NO issues with the running of the fridge, nor with changing out the water filter cartridge. The space inside is wonderful! The drawers slide nicely, and you can move shelves around to fit your family and lifestyle. We entertain a lot and never have a problem with space inside. BUT we do have to buy ice those times as the ice maker is only family sized. The freezer drawer has great access, (so glad we didn't get a door style), the smaller drawers in it hold ice cream and smaller items great, the larger lower parts are divided but still hold larger items. Never had any issues with my fridge, no need to contact a repair company as of this review. Holds the set temperature well, makes ice quickly. Love love love this fridge!

Avoid KitchenAid Products!
By Chicago Joe
from Chicago, Illinois
Avoid all KitchenAid products. I have had this fridge for two weeks now, and have had to have service out three times for separate issues. Both doors need to be replaced (they put the protective tape on before the doors were dry), the ice maker door did not work, and now the inside ceiling of the fridge is separating and falling down. I called up KitchenAid customer service for a replacement fridge, and they refuse to stand behind their product. I also have issues with a brand new KitchenAid cooktop (that has a bent frame that is being replaced), and an oven (that actually had screws sticking out of the oven door and panel - how this passed quality control I don't know). ABT, at least, has been fantastic about the cooktop and oven (since I purchased it through them). I wish I purchased the fridge from them too. I don't blame ABT at all. But, I would avoid KitchenAid products like the plague. Never again. Their supposed to be a higher end brand, but their quality control is a joke.

About Me Casual Cook
I was skeptical about buying this unit at first, because I read some reviews that said the unit was noisy, and that there were problems with the French doors. First, this refrigerator is whisper-quiet. You can't tell that it is running unless you're right next to it. Second, I have not noticed any trouble with the doors or with the freezer drawer. With normal opening and closing (i.e., not slamming doors shut) the French doors operate smooth as silk and there is no problem with doors popping open. Just make sure that the unit is (1) crated when it arrives at your home and (2) that it is installed correctly, leveled front-to-back and side-to-side. [...]

Comments about KitchenAid White Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator:
The frig is really well made and very sturdy. It maintains temperatures in both the frig and freezer perfectly. The ice maker makes ice continuously and dumps ice several times per hour untill full 6 cubes at a time. We originally purchased a Whirlpool almost identical to the Kitchenaid and had problems with crisper shelf falling off the mounting tabs, and the ice maker jammed several times and dropped ice all over the floor. Everything about the Kitchenaid is made better and works flawlessly!
