The frig is really well made and very sturdy. It maintains temperatures in both the frig and freezer perfectly. The ice maker makes ice continuously and dumps ice several times per hour untill full 6 cubes at a time. We originally purchased a Whirlpool almost identical to the Kitchenaid and had problems with crisper shelf falling off the mounting tabs, and the ice maker jammed several times and dropped ice all over the floor. Everything about the Kitchenaid is made better and works flawlessly!

Dissappointed

By

Comments about KitchenAid KFIS27CXBL Black Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator:

I have had this refirgerator for two years now, and love the styling, space and how easy it is to clean. Unfortunately the freezer is prone to constant freeze ups and once every 6 days I have to remove a slab of ice (see photo) from the bottom of the freezer to prevent it from dripping/leaking onto the floor. I attribute this to a design flaw in the manufacture of the refrigerator, and since it is no longer covered by warranty I have had to research a solution on my own.
I have contacted Kitchenaid/Whirlpool on several occasions to see if they could provide a solution or even parts to corrct the issue, without resolve. I expect better quality from this brand.

Poor engineering!!

By

from Teaneck, NJ

Comments about KitchenAid KFIS27CXBL Black Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator:

The unit does a good job cooling and freezing food, but 4 times since purchase in 2010, the drain has clogged and ice and water have backed up in the freezer compartment and leaked onto the floor beneath the unit. It also is very loud cycling on and off. I have complained to the manufacturer in the beginning, but have given up anticipating any lasting remedy to the problem. Again, tomorrow I have the fifth repair for the same problem in 5 years.

Would never buy again...

By

from Ohio

Comments about KitchenAid KFIS27CXBL Black Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator:

We've had this refrigerator for about 3 years -- this is my least favorite appliance, ever. The ice maker is less than ideal, the ice is always in a big clump (I think because of the design, every time you open the left door, room temperature air goes straight into the ice reservoir); the water dispenser couldn't dispense any slower. I find it rare to actually open one door unless I only need a gallon of milk. Just inconvenient, and if you only open the left door, it doesn't shut properly without opening the right door as well -- left has to shut first. With our family of 4, it amazes me how many times I find the door just partly ajar, and it isn't always the kids. It just doesn't shut like a normal refrigerator. Door design is odd as well, leaves dead space below lowest door shelf on each side. I personally just really dislike the french doors, but overall it's just a bad design. We had the ice build up on the bottom as well (and a ton of leaking before we finally realized someone wasn't spilling water), but fortunately bought the extended warranty -- I have realized that this is a huge problem with this age of Kitchenaids, would think that the company would step up and say they screwed up and replace that drain piece for anyone affected.

Grate disappointed

By

from Sherman oaks, ca

Comments about KitchenAid KFIS27CXBL Black Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator:

I purches this refrigider 2 years ago thinking American brand like kitchen aid will not fail me. We have tow teens at home so the fridge is pretty much the center of the food source but two years later the freezer is getting on the bottom ice every couple of days I need to open the freezer doors and manually lift the bottom frozen floors and dump it the ice maker hold not very much of ice and the door magnets not really seal the door. The only stupid think that the engineer at kitchen aid put USB to upload picture to the screen witch is worthless fiture. What a west of money, the debate was Korean vs American I made the wrong desition pick up kitchen aid all my kitchen is kitchen aid but the refrigider is junk model: KitchenAid

worst refrigerator ever!!

By

from Texarkana, TX

Comments about KitchenAid KFIS27CXBL Black Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator:

I have had this refrigerator for about 3 years. I bought Kitchenaid because I thought I was buying a quality appliance. It is the worst refrigerator I have ever owned. I have had problems the entire time I have had it. First the ice maker didn't work. It was replaced. Froze up again, installed a "heater". Leaked from the bottom. Ruined my hardwood floors. It would cool, then quit cooling. I could unplug it and it would start cooling again. That went on for about a year. Finally quit cooling all together. Compressor was replaced. Worked 24 hrs and quit again. Came back out and fixed a leak. Would not cool below 40 degrees, then went up to 50 degrees.Sick of it!!!Fortunately I bought the extended warranty because I had so much trouble with it the first year. It is a LEMON! It should be replaced. A "not good" rating is generous. It's awful!

horrible appliance

By

from Alexandria, AL

Comments about KitchenAid KFIS27CXBL Black Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator:

I bought this refrigerator about 4 years ago. Have had nothing but trouble. Probably started before the warranty ran out. Leaking from bottom onto floor. Was told drain tube from factory not big enough. Replaced for $180.00. Lasted about a year. Leaking from bottom again. Bad valve. Replaced for $219.00. Lasted 2 days. Ice maker leaking and everything in refrigerator is freezing. This time told it needs upper valve. Bottom valve feeds it. And if this doesn't fix it I am told I will need a heater kit for it for an additional $320.00. Still waiting on part. This is ridiculous! I paid $2600.00 for a piece of junk! KitchenAid nor Whirlpool will not stand by this product. I am not happy!!!
