classic looks with efficiency, ease of use and cleaning
from West Chester, Pa
I would never use another slide in. This stove has classic looks with ease of cleaning. No elaborate electronics required to be user friendly and efficient. I have moved 3 times in the past 7 years. Each time I have purchased the same Maytag slide in stove. If it doesn't break don't fix it. Simply the best stove I have ever owned.
Love this Maytag - easy to clean, clean design and very easy
from pittsford, NY
I had an oven previously but chose the Maytag because of the ease of cleaning the top burners. My previous oven had white grates which took 20 minutes on a regular bi-weekly basis to clean. My new Maytag has black grates which a. don't show the dirt as much and b. are very easy to clean as is the top, front and inside. The built in look is attractive but I wish there was a filler I could purchase for the space between the wall and the oven back. I have to have one made and for what I paid for the oven I think this should be included. Overall I am very happy with Maytag.
Has lots of nice features, but temperature accuracy is suspe
from Naperville, IL
If it works the way it is intended, it is a great appliance with lots of features that we like, including the Sabbath mode. However, two performance issues have plagued us:1. There is a tendency for the gas to fail to ignite as we turn a burner control knob through the "Light" section and into the flame control section. This happens to any given burner after a period of time. The first time this happened, cleaning the burner ports which had clogged somewhat with spilled food helped. Next time this happened it still didn't work after a thorough cleaning, and we had to call in the local repairman. It took him all of 2 minutes to pick up the burner cap, look underneath and see some rust, clean off the rust and get the burner working again, for which we were subsequently charged $75 (even though the Maytag Store is only a couple of miles from our house)!! (Apparently the cap serves as a ground for the ignitor's spark.) There was NO hint of this VERY quick, simple procedure in the owner's manual, which would have saved me $75. WHY NOT???? Also, WHY, OH WHY, is the burner cap made of a material that easily rusts which then interdicts the circuit path for the spark? Why not stainless steel?2. My wife insists that many of her previously successful cookie recipes are resulting in burned cookies (on the bottom - the cookie surface that lies on the baking pan) with this new oven. She's frustrated because she now has to experiment to figure out the correct baking times. We shouldn't have to go purchase an independent oven thermometer to check on the calibration of the dial of a new oven.
