About to buy my third

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

I bought my first about 6 months ago, then my second about 3 months ago, and now with the price nearing [$] I'm going to buy another. They work great. I've done a lot of research, and this is the best value unit I've found to date. Con's- you have to buy a water hose to allow it to automatically drain. Otherwise you'll have to keep dumping the water tray, which fills about once a day, this thing is powerful. Most water hoses today have a large plastic tightener, these will NOT fit into the opening on the dehumidifier. You must find the old style, all metal type. I recommend buying a 6 foot leader hose with a spring at the end, to prevent the hose from collapsing over time. Run the hose directly into your sump hole, add an extender water hose if needed. The nozzle where you connect the hose is difficult to align properly, really take your time and align it property before you try to tighten it. Must be perfectly level. Cleaning- very easy to do, but you must do it. These things attract mold/mildew like nothing else. At least once a month, follow the directions and clean the filter, hoses and water pan if using it. A little bleach will kill all the mold. Highly recommended!

This dehumidifier works well to maintain a 50% humidity level in our basement. Because we were continually emptying the water pan we now use a hose connection to empty the water directly into our drain. So far so good.

We have a 115 year old home with a finished basement and a stone foundation. This humidifier does a great job of getting the dampness out. It is much quieter and pulls far more water than our 30 year old hand me down. At first we emptied the container 3 times a day, that has gone down to once a day now that the space is dryer. It does generate a fair amount of heat( as does any dehumifier). Maybe it is just more noticeable with this unit because of it's larger capacity.

We live on the coast of South Carolina and the humidity is "tropic". These units help greatly in keeping the humidity at a healthy level in our home. They are easy to use, but a bit noisy -- but not as noisy as our previous units. We were also pleased with the price!

The nicely designed drainage container tips forward at a slight angle to be removed from the body of the dehumidifier; the sturdy handle facilitates easy emptying. Inaudible between floors.

The unit works perfect. You can see the results right away. The only problem I found was in the instructions where they tell you how to attach the hose for drainage instead of the tank, they forgot to mention something really important and basic. If you do this, "Make sure the dehumidifier is at a higher level than where the hose will drain". For example, if you keep the dehumidifier on the floor, do not try to drain it on the sink.

Great so far

This is our first dehumidifier, but so far it's working great. This is our first summer in our new home, and our first experience with the basement dampness issue. I noticed a HUGE difference in our large finished basement within an hour or two of starting this up. I let it run continuously for several days, then set it to run based on a % humidity level. So far it's been a few weeks and it's still working great. I was planning to connect a hose, but so far the bucket has been easy to empty so I haven't gotten around to the hose yet. It has really made a huge difference in the liveability of our basement area - what used to be cold and damp and musty is now warm and dry, and much less musty. My only concern is about longevity, based on reviews elsewhere, but that seemed to be an issue with all brands, so I simply added the extended warranty just in case. Definitely recommended.

So far this is a great product. It has taken all the dampness out of my basement. The water pan is not that hard to empty as others have said. I bought this unit to remove dampness from my basement in the summer month's and it has done that perfectly. The price was also in my budgets. Once it's removes the initial dampness it hardly runs at all. Overall I think this is a good product.

I purchased this product around June 8 2010 based on reviews from others. So far it is working great. My very damp basement dried up in just a few days and is staying dry. I have put a hose on it so I do not have to empty the water drawer. I am very satisfied with this product so far. Its longevity will increase my satisfaction. I previously had GE dehumidifiers that lasted only 1-2 years and died.

My basement is old, open & large; my house was built in 1915 located in PA. I was concerned about paying alot for a dehumidifier and finding out it would be insufficient. Within 1hr I could tell an immediate difference. In my basement it takes approx. 5hrs on the nose to fill up. It has definitely gotten rid of the excess moisture. It is easy to use & worth every penny. For a woman, the 70pint container may be a bit heavy when full but the handle is centered & the water container is nicely made & enclosed. quiet dehumidification

Have purchased numerous dehumifiers over the years that were supposedly made for basement low temperature operation. They all "die" after two or three years. Bought a 4 year warranty with this unit so time will tell if it is better or just like the others
