We originally wanted to get a counter-depth fridge, but after realizing we didn't have enough width for it in our 1950's kitchen, we opted for this model. It is very spacious & has excellent performance & design. My only minor complaint is that the drawers fall out a lot even when they're not pulled out that far. Other than that, it's been great!

Many, many problems...
By Very disappointed Barbara

Comments about KitchenAid KBRS22KWBL Black Bottom Freezer Refrigerator:
I have owned this refrigerator for 4 years and it is a good thing I purchased the extended warranty. The motherboard has been replaced at least 3 times. Ice shoots out onto the floors pretty regularly. I can never tell when the filter truly needs replacing, because it alerts me almost daily that it needs to be done. The first time, I thought maybe it was a faulty filter, but it has done it the entire time we have owned it. The left door never closes properly without pushing it hard. And the ice jams up constantly. In May 2016 I had a service call about the water filter problem and they ordered a new compartment for the front, in hopes of finally fixing the problem. The part is still back ordered and we are at the end of July. Someone from Whirpool extended warranty called last week and said they were going to be in touch within a week and planned on offering me a replacement refrigerator. Instead, they called another repair service to come and now I am sure I am facing another delay. When we built our home, Kitchenaid appliances came highly recommended. The microwave has been replaced three times and the dishwasher digital display panel has been replaced twice. I no longer have any faith in their products and I am not happy with the extended warranty company either.

Takes time to get used to features.

Bought this appliance about 2 months ago. It is similar but different to the one it is replacing. We like the Freezer in the bottom drawer. The French doors and shelves set up, allows one to open only part of the fridge rather than the opening up the whole unit. The Down side is the Deli Centre drawer goes across the bottom of the whole fridge and one has to open both doors to access it. Why couldn't it be split like the rest ot the shelves? We like the Convernsion program but it does not convert Canadian Imp. liquids to Metric. Only converts American liquids. The rest of the conversions are good. The ice making unit is a bit noisier than our older unit but we are getting used to it. Over all it is a nice addition to our kitchen.

Water drains into freezer then onto floor
from Calgary, AB, Canada
A known design flaw in the drain gasket has caused us major hardwood floor damage. Very frustrated with the quality control from KitchenAid. I now have a new redesigned drain I have to install myself which is daunting due to our kitchen shape and where the fridge is. This is our second flawed KitchenAid appliance- our dishwasher had nylon upper rack brackets and wheels that would wear down due to heat and washing. I have replaced them twice with the same plastic parts and then found they came out with a metal design repalcement that fixed the issue. I am now scared to ever purchase any new KitchenAid appliance- I paid a premium price for a subpar designed product that should never have failed like this in the first place.

Love my new KitchenAid fridge! This is my first bottom freezer and I am thrilled with not have to bend over to see what is on the bottom shelf. I love the longer meat keeper. It suits our needs much better, wished I had purchased this years ago

Great design, functionality, and especially the drawers which keep vegetables, lettuce, etc. remarkably fresh for many days.

I have had this refirgerator for two years now, and love the styling, space and how easy it is to clean. Unfortunately the freezer is prone to constant freeze ups and once every 6 days I have to remove a slab of ice (see photo) from the bottom of the freezer to prevent it from dripping/leaking onto the floor. I attribute this to a design flaw in the manufacture of the refrigerator, and since it is no longer covered by warranty I have had to research a solution on my own.I have contacted Kitchenaid/Whirlpool on several occasions to see if they could provide a solution or even parts to corrct the issue, without resolve. I expect better quality from this brand.

this is the best refrigerator I every got thank you
from Teaneck, NJ
The unit does a good job cooling and freezing food, but 4 times since purchase in 2010, the drain has clogged and ice and water have backed up in the freezer compartment and leaked onto the floor beneath the unit. It also is very loud cycling on and off. I have complained to the manufacturer in the beginning, but have given up anticipating any lasting remedy to the problem. Again, tomorrow I have the fifth repair for the same problem in 5 years.

This refrigerator is the perfect fit for my kitchen. Plenty of storage for my food and a nice wide deli drawer at the bottom, something rarely seen on a 33" wide model. All of the features that a French door refrigerator has with out all of the unnecessary bells and whistles. Plus, it's not an annoying French door fridge. Add the automatic ice maker and you have a fridge that's top of the line.
