I own two of these units - one is operating in a 12x12 bedroom and it cools completely and fast. It is slightly overkill for this size room but recommended because of the speed and efficiency. Want a cold room? This will do it!

The other room is a 20x20 bedroom with a vaulted ceiling. It works well here, too, and using the ceiling fan on low helps distribute the cool air evenly. It does, of course, take longer for the unit to cool the larger room but it does keep up even when the outside air is near 100 degrees. This bedroom is on the top floor, far away from the central unit.

I bought the stand alone unit for two reasons - first to augment the central air system and it works GREAT for that. Second, in the event of a power failure in hot weather we can run our generator and power the A/C in one room for better sleeping. This works well, too.

The unit does generate noise due to the fan, it would be slightly better if we could adjust the the fan speed to lower at sleep time. However, it's not too loud to sleep so I give it a good grade here. Let's face it, we buy this thing to blow a lot of cold air into a room.

Mounting in a window is simple but I'd recommend sticking the insulation to the window insert and not the window itself. Makes it easier to take in and out should you need to. No sticky residue left behind on the window components.

I'd buy another one!

Did not purchase this unit HERE at ABT, and this is my first review. There are so many things wrong, I won't even cover them all, but I had to warn people. The first week we had it, it leaked through the bottom seam into the floor of our mobile, causing the floor to fall out. We had to replace the floor.Unit was supposed to shut off when the reservoir was full, and it DID NOT.2nd week, I cleaned the filter which was unbearably dirty. Not only that, but the owner's manual did not indicate the second LITTLE filter that was important to remove and clean. It is now 4 weeks later and NOW the unit shuts off after the a few hours, for me to empty the water. The water is FULL every time. There is no more humidity in the air now, than there was 4 weeks ago. NO SELF EVAPORATION. I would RATHER have a bucket as it would be easier to empty! The reservoir is on the bottom and you can barely fit a cookie sheet under there to catch the water! Although the owner's manual tells you to take the unit (ALL 50 FRIGGIN POUNDS OF IT??!!) to the nearest door to manually drain it. WTH??Meanwhile, I purchased the Haier 11,000 BTU Commercial Cool unit and had it delivered for nearly the same price (about $30 more) and I have had that for a week. The back of the Haier does NOT leak hot air where the vent hose is hooked up, like the LG does (I had to wrap foam around the vent hose because it heated up the room worse than the sun!)The Haier's vent hose stays fairly cool. The hose stays in the window! The LG does not. It pops out of the hole if you barely nudge the unit!I just popped off the rubber plug to drain the water and (NO JOKE) got, 3 DRIPS! The haier is SELF EVAPORATING!! Now, I know what self evaporating is. DON'T WASTE YOUR [$] on this unit. Spend $30 more for less hassle. My husband is disabled and it will be a pain to load up the car w/ this unit to take to technician. Ugh.

Comments about LG 9,000 BTU 9.2 EER 115 Volts Portable Unit:

I bought this thing a little over a year ago - it pours water out everywhere - it leaks out of the right side and if I leave the cap on the drain, it will only run a few minutes. It started last summer when couple of months old, but I had a family member in the hospital in bad condition, so I didn't get a chance to call in last year when it was in warranty.I have it sitting in a Sterlite under-bed container up on bricks to keep it out of the water. I have to empty this every three or four hours. It does cool, but was ruining my floor and I couldn't afford to buy a new one.

Comments about LG 9,000 BTU 9.2 EER 115 Volts Portable Unit:

I think LG LP0910WNR is a portable air conditioner that has been designed to give sufficient cooling to rooms that are as large as 300 square feet. It gives you the best value for your money by doubling up as a cooler and a dehumidifier. This air conditioner comes with a good number of features that will make your work easy and enable you to cool your house more efficiently. Let’s take a closer look at these features. First of all, it’s important to start with the feature that most people start with when looking for air conditioners: programmability. This unit enables you to stay in control of the temperature within your home even when you are not physically present at home. The 24 hour on/off timer will let you decide the times when the air conditioner will be on and the times when it will be off. This way, you will be able to keep the internal environments in your home conducive without involving children in the process and at the same time conserving as much energy as possible. The LG LP0910WNR has been designed to give a cooling power of up to 9000 BTU that can effortlessly cool areas as big as 300 square feet. The cold air can be directed easily to any part of the room that needs cooling thanks to the 2-way air direction that’s provided by the design of the vents. To further enhance the convenience that you’ll get with this device, the LG LP0910WNR comes with a remote control that enables you to set the amount of cooling that you’ll get without having to leave your seat. Unfortunately, just like many of the indoor air conditioners, this unit has to be ventilated to the outside of the room. This interferes with the unit’s mobility to some extent. However, it will not be a bother when you consider that the unit comes with a window installation kit with detailed instructions on how to set up the vent. Many of you will probably consider me a biased reviewer if I don’t mention the convenience that you will get with the LG LP0910WNR. Some of the features that have been included to ensure that you get as much convenience as possible include a self-evaporation system that will give you the peace of mind that comes with knowing that you will not need to empty any water bucket. You’ll also get a 2-speed fan that will ensure that you are in control at all times. When it comes to maintenance and usability, the LG LP0910WNR gives you good value for your money thanks to features like the automatic restart that will ensure that you don’t need to physically switch the device on after a power blackout. Another great one is seen in the washable air filters that will save you the money that you would have otherwise spend on replacements. It comes with digital controls that come with an easy to read screen that will ensure that you get a precise temperature adjustment in the room. Considering the features that you will get with this unit, we can comfortably conclude that it will give you the best value for your money. Unless you are yet to master the art of making excuses to justify your purchase, you will have no problem finding enough reasons to buy this product.

These are basically really expensive fans. We've got two going in our bedroom, plus a ceiling fan and stand-up fan and they aren't going any lower than 85.

Bought this item 2 summers ago. Only used it for 2 summers and now doesn't blow cold air. It should last more than 6 months worth of use. Now it's out of warranty and if I want to use it anymore I gotta pay more money to fix it. Nothing is made of quality these days.

My room is only 15x14 I leave it on all day and the lowest the temperature will get is 81degrees I've cleaned the filters I've done everything. Not once in the past 3 years has it cooled my room down below 79degrees . I've read reviews and everyone talks hear about this product but mine hasn't done it's job the whole time I've had it.

we bought this to cool the TV room, our house was built in 1909 and as you can imagine it has poor air circulation. we put a swamp cooler in the back which is fine fro the bedrooms, but useless up in front. so we tried this and it works well, but is noisey,

I've had my unit 3yrs and love it. It still blows cold air and works very well. Only complaint is it would be better if the vent blowing the air did more than move slightly up and down in direction.

Had for 2 years now in Florida, freezes ya out , easy to move around, makes no water mess (will have water in so be careful moving) no bucket to empty, when I moved I took it to my outside office (no ac) where it got to 115 as its an automotive shop and kept me bout 80 on 100 degree day in a huge warehouse setting, I periodically test the air temp and it's between 26 and 31 degrees, even when sitting in 115 degrees! great job LG
