I own two of these units - one is operating in a 12x12 bedroom and it cools completely and fast. It is slightly overkill for this size room but recommended because of the speed and efficiency. Want a cold room? This will do it!

The other room is a 20x20 bedroom with a vaulted ceiling. It works well here, too, and using the ceiling fan on low helps distribute the cool air evenly. It does, of course, take longer for the unit to cool the larger room but it does keep up even when the outside air is near 100 degrees. This bedroom is on the top floor, far away from the central unit.

I bought the stand alone unit for two reasons - first to augment the central air system and it works GREAT for that. Second, in the event of a power failure in hot weather we can run our generator and power the A/C in one room for better sleeping. This works well, too.

The unit does generate noise due to the fan, it would be slightly better if we could adjust the the fan speed to lower at sleep time. However, it's not too loud to sleep so I give it a good grade here. Let's face it, we buy this thing to blow a lot of cold air into a room.

Mounting in a window is simple but I'd recommend sticking the insulation to the window insert and not the window itself. Makes it easier to take in and out should you need to. No sticky residue left behind on the window components.

I'd buy another one!

Did not purchase this unit HERE at ABT, and this is my first review. There are so many things wrong, I won't even cover them all, but I had to warn people. The first week we had it, it leaked through the bottom seam into the floor of our mobile, causing the floor to fall out. We had to replace the floor.Unit was supposed to shut off when the reservoir was full, and it DID NOT.2nd week, I cleaned the filter which was unbearably dirty. Not only that, but the owner's manual did not indicate the second LITTLE filter that was important to remove and clean.It is now 4 weeks later and NOW the unit shuts off after the a few hours, for me to empty the water. The water is FULL every time. There is no more humidity in the air now, than there was 4 weeks ago. NO SELF EVAPORATION. I would RATHER have a bucket as it would be easier to empty! The reservoir is on the bottom and you can barely fit a cookie sheet under there to catch the water! Although the owner's manual tells you to take the unit (ALL 50 FRIGGIN POUNDS OF IT??!!) to the nearest door to manually drain it. WTH??Meanwhile, I purchased the Haier 11,000 BTU Commercial Cool unit and had it delivered for nearly the same price (about $30 more) and I have had that for a week. The back of the Haier does NOT leak hot air where the vent hose is hooked up, like the LG does (I had to wrap foam around the vent hose because it heated up the room worse than the sun!)The Haier's vent hose stays fairly cool. The hose stays in the window! The LG does not. It pops out of the hole if you barely nudge the unit!I just popped off the rubber plug to drain the water and (NO JOKE) got, 3 DRIPS! The haier is SELF EVAPORATING!! Now, I know what self evaporating is. DON'T WASTE YOUR [$] on this unit. Spend $30 more for less hassle. My husband is disabled and it will be a pain to load up the car w/ this unit to take to technician. Ugh.

I love the convenience of this product. It couldn't be easier to set up and figure out how to use. It can easily be moved from place to place as our needs change. It seemed like it could have gotten a little colder, though. Maybe I should have opted for a larger BTU model.

Bought this for my 10months old room, we have 90-100 degree heat and it cools down the room great! Installation was fast! Takes longer to cool down room if it's really hot outside but it get the job done within an hour.

I really enjoy the portable air conditioner. It works well in the bedroom, but it is not powerfull enough to cool down the livingroom. Additionally, the air conditioner never makes the room cold. It seems to reach a cool level easily, but struggles to bring it as cold as display says it should be able to.

Good cooling, easy to use and move around. Problems: Exhaust hose to short and hard to keep in window unless screwed in then on non-use days a pain to remove. No convient way to drain water. Work arounds aside is a good unit and would reccomend it.

My AC system went out and it was 5 days before a new one was installed. This product "saved the day"(s). The outside temp was in the upper 90s and this unit was able to keep two rooms to a temp in the low 80s. It didn't increase the electric bill. Only concern was the exhaust vent, had problems getting it to stay in the window opening; eventually I used duct tape to secure it. I'm glad it have it to fall back on whenever needed. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
