While this unit does cool the room, that is its only redeeming quality. Way too loud except on it lowest setting, which is not high enough for the 100+ degree days. Also makes annoying clicking or scratchy sounds when it runs. Don't like this unit at all. By far, the most disappointing purchase I've made in an a/c unit, but had to replace an older unit that quit on me during the heat wave. Only one I could find in this size (6,000 BTU's). If it wasn't for the high cost of installation, I'd replace it.

It seems to blow air unevenly out of the vents. One side blows more air than the other, but it cools very well anyway

We bought the room air conditioner in July during the killer heat wave and are very happy with its performance. If our previous purchases from Abt are an indication of how this item works out for us, we'll have many worry-free years of use from it.

Light, easy to install, good for smaller areas. Non-digital controls are retro, but that makes it cost less. A little noisy but tolerable considering alternative without it.

We put it in the bedroom window and installed it with a shim running from the top window to the frame so no need for screws. The shim keeps the window from opening and the unit from falling out like how people put blocks in sliding glass doors.

The first unit didn't work, but ABT provided another one promptly and so far it is running as expected.

Beware this air conditioner was only two years old and not used often when one night it was causing an electrical arc throughout my wiring,when trying to turn on the burned out compressor. My home could have burned down. Will never purchase again. The electrician said the safety plug also burned out and was not protecting the electric wiring.

It would be great if it gave an actual temp reading so I knew how cool it was in my room, or I could set it to a certain temperature.
