I read the reviews for this flat beater and I personally never had any of these issues. I had my bowl-lift mixer for years now and i still have the original beater and it works wonderful it gets to the bottom of the bowl and is great at getting all the ingredients mixed together and is great with the Thickest of cookie doughs . I hand wash the beater with mild dish detergent and it still look like when I got it.

I have had three Kitchen Aide mixers. I upgraded to the professional 600 model, which works fine. I do not understand why your more expensive and heavy duty mixer does not come with dishwasher safe beaters and dough hooks however. I washed mine and they immediately discolored. Given that the accessories for the 41/2 quart model are all dishwasher safe, this seems like a clear design flaw.

Poor quality

By

from Luray, VA

Comments about KitchenAid Burnished Flat Beater:

My original stand mixer had an issue with the motor after a couple of years, and Kitchenaid was kind enough to replace the entire thing at no cost to me.
However, the new attachments are horribly cheap. The metal has oxididized on all 3 attachments that came with the new replacement mixer. Also, the plastic spill-guard cover doesn't fit the bowl very well, and it has a tendency to pop off during use.

I was very happy with the customer service I received in replacing my mixer, but I'm so disappointed in the quality of the replacement. Had I known that the attachments were going to be a much poorer quality than the originals, I would have just kept my old, higher quality attachments.

What can you do to make this right? I'm a huge Kitchenaid fan, but these attachments are definitely not one of your finer products.

Burnished Paddle is a Bummer

By

from Orange, CT

Comments about KitchenAid Burnished Flat Beater:

Recently upgraded to the 6 Qt Professional and love the mixer itself but the burnished attachments are horrible. My old mixer had coated attachments so it didn't even dawn on me to have to hand wash this one. Beater is ruined. It oxidized so badly it just stains everything it touches. It was super hard to even wash off my hands. Unfortunately I now have to scramble to get a new paddle attachment for Friday or hand mix batter for 10 dozen cupcakes! Yikes.

Need a new flat paddle for my K5SS

By

from Los Angele, CA

Comments about KitchenAid Burnished Flat Beater:

The paint of the paddle for my K5SS mixer is chipping away so I am not able to use my mixer anymore. It has been impossible to find a new part. What should I do? It does not matter the machine works great if later on when I need to replace a part I can not find it.

Beater Ruined!

By

from Santa Monica, CA

Comments about KitchenAid Burnished Flat Beater:

I love my Kitchenaid Stand Mixer but had the exact same problem as many of the Reviewers here. I put my paddle in the dishwasher and the finish came off completely and is now unusable. So disappointed I have to replace a part solely because I didn't hand wash it. PLEASE warn your customers of the potential to ruin attachments if not washed by hand!

Disappointed!

By

from Fort Lauderdale, FL

Comments about KitchenAid Burnished Flat Beater:

I have two 6qt stand mixers and both of my flat beaters oxidized after washing. I've tried everything to get them back to normal but after much research I'm guessing I'm just out of luck. It's so sad because I love Kitchen Aid but I wish they would come out with a better beater option.

Ruined in the dishwasher

By

from Spokane

Comments about KitchenAid Burnished Flat Beater:

Have had this paddle for years and just moved in to a new home with brand new dishwasher. I used to either hand wash or put the paddle in the old dishwasher and thought nothing of putting it into my new dishwasher. BIG mistake. It now has a weird (grainy?) feel to it and has completely changed color. My daughter was making cookies and asked why there was black stuff in the batter which could have only come off of the paddle. We haven't put it into the dishwasher since but I cannot get it "clean" and have tried scrubbing it over and over to get the residue off but I think it will be permanently like this. We use this machine several times a week and sometimes see black in the dough and sometimes not? I came onto the site hoping to find an option to replace mine but am unsure which one to get now. I see others have had issues as well but your responses are not helpful in answering questions such as which one to get as a replacement or other suggestions since you are having everyone email your team directly. I would appreciate any recommendation you have for me for a replacement product that is safe to use. I have model Pro KSM50 PWH. Thank you.

Yucky to handle, stains food

By

from Cokato, MN

Comments about KitchenAid Burnished Flat Beater:

My complaints echo do many others on here. It is tarnished and yucky to touch and leaves icky stains on my food. Kitchenaid claims the residue isn't harmful but seriously?! No thank you!
I submitted a complaint to kitchenaid and received a response asking for more information. I responded, twice, several months ago. Still no action from kitchenaid. Very disappointed in this company which I've loved for so many years.

This beater should be reengineered

By

from Auburn, AL

Comments about KitchenAid Burnished Flat Beater:

My wife and I bought the KP26M1XER to replace a 20 plus year old KitchenAid mixer that needed a switch replaced. I suggested getting a bigger mixer so she could "single batch" her delicious chocolate chip cookies rather than go through the mixing process twice. The idea appeared to be a good one until the beater was washed and became oxidized. Is there an easy fix for this or a replacement that will not oxidize or that is ceramic coated

Stains and contaminates food :(

By

from Farmington, UT

Comments about KitchenAid Burnished Flat Beater:

This beater (as well as the burnished dough hook) SUCK! They are cheap looking, cheap feeling, tarnish/discolor even when hand washing, and worst of all, THEY LEAVE RESIDUE IN MY MIXTURES! Nothing says home-baked deliciousness like sugar cookies or rolls with gray streaks throughout...NOT! I'm very unhappy to see that Kitchen Aid has cheapened their mixers like this. I have a 20 year old 4 qt mixer that I have LOVED! It came with the covered flat beater and dough hook. After 20 years of HEAVY use, they still look perfect. I have had my new mixer 6 days, used it 5 times, and the dough and beater look horrible. I am so disappointed that my new mixer didn't come with the tried and true attachments I came to love. Thumbs down, Kitchen Aid.

Cookie party ruined!

By

from New York

Comments about KitchenAid Burnished Flat Beater:

I hosted a cookie party this year excited to have the chance to use my kitchen aid stand mixer. After putting all of the ingredients into the bowl I started to attach the flat beater. My hands turned black! I still started the mixer because I thought it might be some oil from the connection but it turned out to be the attachment itself. We had to throw that batch away. There were lots of cookies to be made and no mixer. It was very disappointing! My wire wisk attachment also turns your hands black.
